All these "Day in the Life" videos seem like they do more eating than working.
lol
That is true LOL
yes, they dont really work, they eat, drink coffee, have team meetings and workout. work only 4 hours hhahahahah
well i'm sure they don't want to record the entirety of them working. that would be boring but it would also bother her co-workers, i'm sure. just an FYI, we don't normally code all day. that leads to burnout, fast. most of the day, at my office anyway, is spent in meetings. coding is important, but if everyone isn't on the same page, that pretty much makes your work pointless.
Burnout is just a concept Americans invent to excuse their laziness.
>write 3 line of codes
>lunch time
Hahaha
Expectation: Stackoverflow, Reality: Foodoverflow
💪Gains
I love it lol
A Day in the Life of a Software in only 4 Words - nice job!
lol
Water time
Because when you want a glass of water, you need a 20 minutes break.
Kaden* of course KKKKKKKK
In reality you going to spend 12 hours in stackoverflow
lmao
Jajaja
Cut and paste the info and make 6 figures a year.
@@ElloGunva Sure ... But it's all in knowing _what_ to copy and paste !
Hahahaha exactly also github too
Eatware Engineer
FOODTESTER
:v
@@shl56__ u wut ? No free food??? Gg
lol
Yo wtf is a water time???? Reminds me of Michael scott's time theft 😂😂😂😂😂
I work as a software engineer. I have a 30-minute meeting every day and a lunch break for one hour. The rest of my time is spent coding and testing my code.
That's because unlike this fluke in the video - you're a real software engineer. The shit she produces, is given later to you to debug. You take one look at her 3 lines of code and comment out the entire thing before re-writing. That's the reality.
I wanna be a software enginer can u you help me in understanding that
@@safiyacabdikarim2714 if you can't answer this question by yourself, this is the wrong field for you.
@@russelfernandes8483I think you’re being a little harsh? How can you judge her work when you’ve never seen it? Unless you’re in the know 😮
I've watched so many of these day in the life of a software engineer videos and the one thing they have in common is minimum work and more lunch/freetime, wtf?
No they juat dont want to film the code since the video will be 5 hours of coding which is boring to watch..
So basically you eat all day long
Video Stop Right!? lol
she is a fatty. Look at those double chins.
oinkpiggin well actually she’s beautiful.
But I was just saying there’s a lot of food in the video XD
What a boring day that is
oinkpiggin I don’t think you should judge her, considering your username is “oinkpiggin”. People who work lots need brain food! I imagine she also didn’t film her entire day and meetings. Props to her for being able to look awesome and eat awesome food :)
It looks like you spend a good amount of the day eating... lol
I can't think of a better way to stay happy and motivated!
luba until you gain 100 pounds.
I don't think she will, I mean she's going to the gym, and it doesn't happen from day to day...
I couldn't eat that much during a work day.... I'd fall asleep.
All I do is drink water during my 10 hour work day.
Sarah Linnea this fat bitch will never get laid
I wish I could get away with spending
Scias if you add it up she works over 8 hours during the day lol, but because it’s split up between 8-6 it gives her more time to take breaks. That’s the best way to be efficient and productive.
@@eveecat Seems like she lives at work and just stops by her house to sleep. Well, the paycheck is probably the justifying incentive her.
@@Kevin-jc1fx I mean, you really wanna watch her code for 6(?) hours straight? :P
@@Rheaso I don't complain about how long or short her coding time is. Whatever she does, she spends most of her time at the office. It's ok when you have no life, but if she becomes a mum or a wife, she will realize that this slavery is no more worth it.
Yup.......I'm a software engineer too, looks like my day minus the make-up parts lol
People need to know that just because we are not in front of a PC writing code, doesn't mean it's not on your mind. Many times it is essential to walk away and reset our brains to find an error.
Additionally developers are constantly think about their code and what's coming down the pipeline, from the moment our eyes open until they close.
...uhhh... stumbled in here and found myself watching the whole thing. I'd heard good things about AirBnB, but had no idea it was so nice inside! That building architecture is insane.
And now he says that he leaves his job. Seems like AirBnB will get a new techlead soon :D
TechLead stop by and apply! Lol
lol i see you all over youtube. i absolutely love it
luba FOOD
I am the "Tech Lead!!!!!" #boss
"Food is more important than work at Airbnb"- this might be the best title for this video. LOL
Plot twist: she works in the canteen and was typing out a menu
Totally agreed 😂 I code for 10 hours straight but get only 30min break in a day 🙏
i love when people film themselves waking up for these day in the life videos lmao
Part of the job
Team Chai Meeting - shows an Indian guy 🤣🤣
@Louise Vanessa the Indian guy is the person who does all the work
A day in the life of a software engineer. . . then proceeds with a video that has nothing to do with software engineering. . . am I missing something here?
work rules she can't show u code
lmao, u want a camera pointed at her face while she codes on a computer? xD
well, it would help show the actual life of a software engineer...
Hehehe I am asking myself the same question. You are not. I'll do a better video soon being a data engineer and all.
Adam Strix Thank you brother! Consider subscribing to my channel
I think a lot of people are questioning the multiple "breaks" or "stops". Let me just say this, companies like Airbnb do not check how much time you do coding but they expect results and creativity, which is why there are so many perks.
Okay, so you eat and the work is being done by the out-stuffed guys from post Soviet countries?
Exactly right.
JAJA accurate af
I would gain 50 lbs working there
My first job as a Front-end Developer consisted of me sitting in front of the computer from 9.30 am to 6pm with 1-2 hours of lunch break.
mariacheline was an intern for 2 months as an undergrad last year at a finance company.would be in the office at 8 and home at 10/ 11pm...13 /14 hours a day and in at weekends every fortnight incase they had some clients . Can't imagine being on a computer for 8 and a half hours, but hey if you enjoy it
90 % Obviously, if you enjoy it, it's less problematic but, still, breaks are necessary. It also depends on your work environment, it could be really exhausting if you have a bad environment though you love what you do and vice versa.
My condulences for having lunch breaks that long *lol* 30 to 40 minutes, anything above is pure waste of time.
even if you love it , humans need break , space and a good environment.
Exactly.
Your office culture seems pretty relaxed. My day goes like this: 7:30-9:00 Work on previous days tasks, 9:00-9:30 Research and development, 9:30-10:00 Check tasks/emails, 10:00-10:15 Standup, 10:15-12:30 Code, 12:30-12:45 lunch, 12:45-2:00 Code, 2:00-3:00 meetings, 3:00-4:30 Code. Done.
It doesn't seem Scrum at all
I love the way you frames and articulated stuff Luba ❤️❤️
The one common thing I notice int those "Day in the life.." videos is that those people spend much more time on breaks or eating than actually working on something :]
аналогично )) возникает вопрос, а кто же всё таки пишет код? неужели опенсорсные команды из Украины или Индии ))
Maybe its a biased notion, because on those videos people don`t keep filming themselves while looking at a screen (work part/boring video). Instead, the takes of breaks and other activities are more interesting to watch... but still, I think I take less breaks then people on these videos too.
That's about all they can show you. This is an actual company she works at with proprietary code. There's no way they'd be okay with her filming her screen while working. And if you look closely at the times, most of those 'breaks' look like they last less than 15 minutes.
well the narrative is to show how "awesome" their life is not actually show all the awful bs that makes them look miserable working in the rat race
The thing is if you were to make a video it’d be the same thing. No one wants to see a video where the camera is just pointed at someone’s face while they code. We want to see fun stuff, like the building architecture, the food, and other people. They can’t show code
So basically you spend twelve hours inside workplace. Really dream job...
That's why she has enough time to eat :D
This is anti Joshua Fluke material imho
She lives at work. 😂
I appreciate this is a honest day to day video. I used to be in product design as a manager and although most days were made up of briefings and meetings, the structure and content was both similar but different all the same. These days I'm a D&C manager and its about 20 different meetings a week but I'm also out and about physically interacting, mentoring, helping my engineers where I can. I mentally couldn't be a software engineer anymore, I'm too fidgety and need too much stimulus but that's probably because life changes when you have kids
i dont think they are working .
they spend there time eating and playing computers games ! not engineer.
i am sure thats internet cafe or hotel
Looks like a nice area with friendly co-workers, it would be really nice to join. I like the fact that after work you go to the gym, it is really good for sedentary jobs! Forgot one question, do you have to work saturdays?
What kind of you work you do.
Coding or preparing documents and meeting with clients?
Hey, Luba. Your video inspired me as I am a Chemical Engineer and trying to push my luck into Data Science field. Best luck for you 😁
Your vlog was one of the important source of drive to go into SaaS, and I am glad that I watched this video years ago that helps me ended up working in Atlassian!
he Indian guy is the person who does all the work
true man! his appearance says that!
Thank you for sharing this! I cannot believe that is Airbnb's headquarters, absolutely incredible. Looks like an upscale mall. Every space and floor has a thoughtful design behind it... and the food looked DEE LISH!! 😀
Really nice and amazing place Luba. I'm totally new watching your videos and I'm happy to discover this particulary. Amazing day! I hope someday if I learn code do the same thing as u :)
Your day looks so chill man.
oh boy, my past jobs look like trash in comparison
is it okay to film on campus? I saw other software eng/youtubers have to take down their videos.. otherwise cool video
Kevin Munene probably ok as long as they don’t do anything stupid like show sensitive information drawn on a whiteboard or anything company related on the laptop
I go in for an interview in a couple days, this is a great view of the culture. Thanks for making this!!
Not sure if you're still there, but this was my first week. Thanks again for the great vid!
I loved this video luba, I wish I could have a workspace like the one you have there. Grettings From Panamá.
It would be great if you post some technical videos including data structures and algorithms and the technical challenges you face at Airbnb.
Thumbnail is like she is working so hard but shock to see the reality 😂😂
THANKS FOR THE MOTIVATION
That seems so awesome. Definitely goals.
Imagine waking up at 7 every morning and leaving work at 6:50.
No coding and Still Software Engineer? wish I could be you!
I love food vlogs keep em coming!
I am watching this while I have an essay do in 6 hours and I haven't even started yet. If there is one thing that CZcams is good at, it's helping me procrastinate.
wait how many hours in total is actual work?
she did everything instead of working
ahAHahahahahahah
You have a good life Luba. And a lot of food. I remember the time i was an automation process engineer at russian steel mill plant. That was another life at all...
I miss these kinds of video journaling from your daily routine, Luba! 😍🤓🥰
literally 90% of this is just eating
I used to work there and yes that’s what 90% of the day was😂 they bring around snack carts in addition to 3 meals a day
The food there really is motivating...reminds me to work harder
Eat harder* you mean?
Absolutely ridiculous idea ...
Wow what an office love it. You are so lucky and you deserve it.
Wow. What a lovely place of work.
Make a video on how you got started in software engineering! I would like to know more about your background and how you have progressed through the years :)
Lol you didn't work a minute! Fun job
Being a vlogger, do you delete old raw recorded footage on your phone or always keep it stored on HDDs? Which recording device do you use and PC? (Research for a project idea I'm thinking of). Recently had so much trouble transfering photos/videos from my phone to computer due to a myriad of bugs and incompatibility.
Love you all time..go ahead and keep it up..
we'd like to see your github, not ig ;)
that is not-existent I believe.. She just catch views on looks.
Haha.
No one would smash.
Totally would want her to put her github up.
Not everybody have github.
What about code view
Just
When true:
print("eating")
Every time I watch the video of a day in life of computer software they only seems to be more focus of food 🍴🍕🍔 stuff rather than computer
you are making it sound easy
dude you never took a shower
Quich and easy i learn so much
practicing opera part made my day!
Im surprised you only have 534 subscribers.
I feel like im getting in at the ground floor.
Good luck!
A day in "showing off my lifestyle"
Gosh i wish i had a job like yours, your office is amazing, and those eating time, makes me really envy
This Is awesome, in México the thinks are very diferent, 8 hours working with 15 minutes of rest and 1 hour to eate
90 minute blocks to code seem very optimal. That makes sense. Seems like a very healthy work environment (without words at least lol).
holy crap, they treat you guys good there! how lucky you are to be apart of a working environment that takes such good care of you guys!
Sierra Marie And makes you work all day.
not even close, did you watch the same video I did? Did you see how many breaks she took?
Sierra Marie Does it matter? She stayed 11hrs at her job, these breaks are mandatory.
thats the point? it evens out
Sierra Marie You're still not getting my point, I'm talking about having to stay at work, the breaks are there because of the unhealthy work-life balance, unless of course she stayed on her own which I doubt because who would choose to stay at work. This new "startup" culture is about having quite some free time from these breaks , but at the same time you get to work all day.
And every day like this,Awesome!
Looks like ya having a good life. Keep enjoying it :D
I guess this is what heaven looks like.
Depends completely on your definition of "heaven".
so all you do all day is eat...must be great!
I immediately panicked when i heard your phone's alarm go off lol
your work environment it's beyong amazing
These kind of videos raise unemployment.
No wonder the AirBNB website is so dysfunctional: your IT department consists of a bunch of millennials sitting around eating and chatting.
Dinar AndFriends what does IT have to do with the website? Idiot.
Um...they design and code both the front-end and the back-end (when they are not eating and gossiping). What are you confused about?
I agree or maybe the title is misleading, should have been "FOODS ON MY EVERYDAY LIFE WITH MY CO-WORKERS IN AIRBNB"
Dude. It's literally a ratio of 0.5/4 that is shown relating to work
Is 'code monkeys' supposed to be a sneering term for those people who are bright enough to be able to program? In any case, whoever it was who designed their site was inept: it would be extremely hard to create anything less functional. To be honest, I can't see much evidence of any coding expertise at Airbnb.
However, you are right: as in most companies with too much money and thick senior managers, the IT department at Airbnb is obviously an environment where nobody is pushed to do anything constructive. A competent full-stack developer could do the work of that entire room of people, and do it much better.
Cheers! Nice food there
1st software engineer I've watched that arrives at the office before 9am lol you go girl
IQ dropping warning after watching this vid! please give back 3 min of my life
😂
This video is a nice commercial for promoting AI to write code. It shows how horribly inefficient and costly humans are to maintain and get any actual work out of them.
This precisely is why we will all be (and rightfully so) replaced by robots and AI.
Robots will make things but who will buy those things if nobody has a job anymore? That would imply making things to use them, not to sell them. But we could already do that, we don't need to wait until nobody has a job anymore. We wouldn't even need to produce useless things anymore, we wouldn't need marketing anymore, etc. So much less work to do, in the end.
Do you hear a whooshing sound?
That's the sound of my comment going over your head. ;-)
selling things isn't necessary for the robot master elite, they can get what they need from the masses they enslave and suck the life from :)
What did you expect? Did you want a video just of her staring at a screen? She obviously can't show you her screen. Why are you mad that they don't just sit at their laptops all day? That isn't good for anyone. AI is not a good option at all.
@conacal rubdur the time stamps are on the bottom when she starts to do something else.
your job is so fantastic~
wow such a good life as a software engineer at Airbnb! i'm learning coding to become a web developer at App Academy and hopefully at the end of it, i'll land a job at one of the tech companies like Airbnb.
I think video name need to change (Make what we eat in airbnb😂😂)
incredibly well made video. i hope to see more soon
luba anything from normal life videos (like the opera one you did, which was awesome) to videos about tech (internships, what you do, etc) would be amazing.
damn that seems really chill
Great video, it’s going so fast now. Best advice I have for you is to work hard, save a lot and start your own company at 30 !
Cmon girl, you don't even code. You just walk around and film. We all know you got that job on looks and cultural diversification.
I really liked the video! I didn't know you did opera. Are you a React Native developer or what is your role in the software engineering team? I would like to see videos about the lifestyle in the valley and about getting a job there as a foreigner. Keep it up! Greetings from Mexico.
Do you mean Ruby on Rails backend? That's what AirBnB uses right? I also thought the mobile apps are built using React-Native, or is that just the iOS app?
Really ?? eating, eating and full meeting is just amazing work !!!!
Great video! great life! :D
I do not even understand why some people so rude. This video gives a message that all she do is not about sitting in the corner and code for a whole day and not such stressful things but all about collaborating and meeting. For me, as a software student I see her and my future job as a very comfortable and flexible. Pets, dishes, people meetings are what makes person calm and prepared to work. Thank you Luba for sharing. You are giving a good example for people.
So then she should've titled her video differently
I am a freelancer Workin 9 hours a day. 9 hours on system time , while screenshots are being recorded through out. And clock will timed out of idle for 5 mins..
Sounds like Tech jail ?
Can you solve this problem of finding the longest consecutive subsequence from a given array. Will highly recommend to try this problem yourself first. Then can watch this video for some help czcams.com/video/7KCv88rs3S4/video.html
Jail - is a place you don't want to be. If the pay satisfy you and you like your job, it is not a jail :)
Work environment goals 👌🏿
congratulations, first Day in the life video that i don't see a plastic cup
