Do you think that the reason Frieza nerfed himself with his weaker forms was because he kept accidentally blowing up planets in his final form when he was younger?
I've thought before but knowing his narcissism, he probably did it to make his opponents feel powerless against him
“Son, we can’t have a planet trading empire if you keep casually destroying them”
@@MrAlien-fm6bs no it's to restrain his ki
@@IIIISai well that too obviously
@@MrAlien-fm6bs Side note, Does freiza have a mom?
Because unless you can breath in space you're dead
But can't they just make KI barriers and be fine?
GOOD QUESTION.
@@thescumgod658 No they would die without oxygen unless you're Frieza, Cell or Buu
@@XZAVIER-DAA-GOD i know it's not canon but we saw OG Broly using his ki barrier to protect him and paragus in space
Can't they use it that way?
Plus
Gogeta/Broly was supposed to fight in space/ the sun(but due to runtime the animators couldn't do it)
How else would they reach that far ?
It just doesn't make sense
They should be fine in space with ki barrier but until it's canon/confirmed i guess not🤷♂️
@@thescumgod658 they can breath in the atmosphere of a planet but not in space
The problem is Dragon Ball is also a slapstick comedy so extreme feats are partly a comedic effect especially with Roshi blowing up the moon. It just got carried away while becoming more serious. Majin Boo saga brought back a lot more of the cartoony comedy but still played it self serious
Hell, Goku's power pole extended to the moon which.... shouldn't be possible.
One of my favorite things is the implication that wrecking the area around you, while flashy and spectacular to watch, is a sign the fighter is clumsy and inefficient
It's actually part of why Broly left such an impact. Even a tiny drop in the bucket of his full output is still flattening the area around him to a degree other characters would need to actively try to do, and he's _still_ a massive threat despite being so unfocused and careless
Imagine if that beast of a Saiyan was able to focus
Holy crap, so VEGETA was basically the SSJ2 version of buff Master Roshi!? That really puts SSJ2 into perspective...
I always knew this, or at least assumed as much. Ki control always seemed like a huge concept in the dragon ball verse. When Goku was going SSJ3 and it began to wreck civilization, it always seemed to make sense to me considering that he never managed to master/fully control that form because its power was just so immense, wild and exhausting to use. All of his forms after that, whether in GT or Super, all seemed to provide him with way better Ki control by default -- the paths it took to gain those forms was drastically different compared to SSJ 1-3, so while they were far more immense, it does give some logic on why they're not as wild and exhausting compared to SSJ 3, especially SSJG's healing ability and calm state. I always loved the concept of Ki control and always wished it would get more attention.
(Off topic, but something I always considered in One Punch Man is how Saitama might've been bad at controlling his power, so his punches would often cause environmental damage ).
I think it's just like concentrated ki blasts. Like Majin Vegeta blowing himself up or a blast with enough power to destroy the Earth only blows up a tiny piece of land. They put a barrier around the blasts so the damage only goes so far and it's the same with powering up they put a barrier around themselves so it doesn't shake the planet unless it's a crazy amount of power that leaks outside the barrier
@@OverRule1 They might be doing that. For the launched ki blasts though, I feel like it'd be significantly hard, if not, impossible to maintain that barrier shortly after its launched, or the further from the user it is. It could still help though, that plus aiming it away from things like the planet to ensure it's safe.
@@OverRule1 or you can say the writers are too lazy to add these small but significant details, and now they don't care about anything more than selling toys, merchandise and making money.
This is a question that seems obvious but i never really questioned it,i saw it as the characters reserving some of their ki from cracking the planet in half, power levels also make a difference in the amount of damage done to the planet.
Ki control is the common answer. But if the enemy was mindless like Cell Max or Hirudagarn power up uncontrollably , I think they’d blow up the planet .
I also saw as the characters concentrating their ki to doing damage to their opponent
@@kapayasiame3632 it's a good thing they fought Kid Buu on Supreme Kai's planet. As far as we know, it's unable to be destroyed without some extreme divine power. Kid Buu's one to power up uncontrollably for the heck of it, but thankfully they were in a divine world. Although, considering the guy was just so excited for a fun fight, he might've controlled his own ki to keep it going regardless, who knows.
@@mainboysmusic6985 with that said the kaioshin even said goku and kid buu fight could potentially destroy it meaning if they aimed an attack at it they could destroy a universe size planet
It seems to me that most of their attacks aren't meant to explode. It's like the difference between being hot by a rock vs missile.
Maybe it's just a different kind of attack to get through a ki barrier vs destroy a planet.
So in the Dragon Ball universe, either ki can travel faster than light, or the laws of physics are completely different and there is no real speed cap for causality. It doesn't matter how powerful the explosion is, even if it's strong enough to destroy a solar system or a galaxy, it can't be near-instantaneous like it's depicted in the series. It would have to take at least as long as it would take light to travel the same distance, which at those cosmic scales could take years.
And I know people like to claim that there's evidence that the characters surpassed light speed as early as the Saiyan saga, but if that were really true, why does it still take them so long to travel from one place to another? Trunks should have been able to make it to Capsule Corp. and back in a tiny fraction of a second, the Z fighters could have arrived at Babidi's ship practically instantly, etc. Plus, pretty much any instance of a character trying to outrun a blast becomes comical if they're supposed to be faster than light. For example, Piccolo outrunning Vegeta's sacrificial explosion and barely making it more than what appears to be a few miles in the time that, if he were actually faster than light, he could've circled the planet hundreds of times over.
Lastly, Goku said it "felt like" the whole earth was shaking, but what does he know? He's only in that one spot, he has no clue if it's shaking on the other side of the globe. My point is that the characters aren't omniscient. They make guesses and they exaggerate all the time, because they only have so much information. It's helpful to take character statements with a grain of salt.
Ki can likely travel at faster than light. (We even see a single panel in buu saga when goku gathers energy, then the energy travels from Earth to across the universe in a matter of unknown time (seconds or even faster.)
As for your comment below:

---------------
The answer boils down to the fact that in Dragon Ball they have combat speed versus travel speed. What that means is that they are faster when punching/kicking and when doing short bursts than they are when flying straight from point A to B.
Think of it like this: You as a human would likely be able to punch faster than what a car can accelrate to at that split second the car starts to drive.
To put it into perspective:
If goku was in a starting line along with freeza, but goku has to travel by flight against freeza's death beam. Freeza's beam would obviously reach the final destination/goal faster than Goku. But it also depends on how far the distance to the finish line is.
However if the finish line isn't that far, then goku can simply "short burst" through because in that split second and in a certain distance, goku would be faster than the death beam. It's like comparing it to athletes doing marathon vs race. Some atheletes are just flat out better at running longer distances due to their stamina and speed but most importantly their ability to maintain the consistency in their speed for long distances.
But an athlete being good at marathons does not mean the athlete is automatically better than an athlete who does races which are shorter distances. Because the athlete that does short distances is ultra fast at a certain amount of distances before that athlete loses stamina fast.
I hope you get the logic behind it. It's why when Goku's ki as SSJ 3 travels faster than light, to kaioshin realm, it's highly likely an explosive short burst that keeps happening through unknown seconds. (Basically explosive energy that is incredibly fast and strong.)
In theory that SSJ 3 Goku might be way faster than light in combat speed. Ofcourse travel speed is another story. Probably slow as hell in travel speed. As he would exert too much energy/stamina and isn't tailored towards long distances.
After all they are martial artists first. They fight fast and quick.
Never seen/heard this question asked. I just assume the key is ki control but that's my thoughts going into the video...
Yup, ki control
Yes! You always make My day with your content Mike!😊😊😊😊
Here in the first 30 minutes let’s gooo
Another great outside the box video done by you but what about the impact of Vegetas final explosion?
Yep. A lot of control Mike! Pretty logical
Asking the real questions 😂
I think it can be explained best with Kaioken, Broly and the Explosive Wave technique.
Normally fighters want to use Ki Control to restrict the ki in their techniques or in Kaioken's case restricting ki inside their body
Broly does destroy some of his surroundings when he powers up because his *Ki is overflowing*
Explosive Wave is the application of letting your ki loose, only using Ki control to confine the destroyed area (ie Majin Vegeta)
I love videos like this, so relaxing after training and school
Okay. Why didn't Cell Max destroy the Earth considering he was mindless? Or Broly when he went berserk? I guess the simple answer is because that's Super not Z, haha.
I'll answer that, but first... what about the droid attack on the Wookiees?
Your answer is pretty much valid though, but they still actually apply the control of their Ki, just like other movie monsters are able too. They can of course destroy a planet they are standing on but they're trying to get their enemies, not the planet/galaxy/macrocosm, so they are just shooting their blasts more directly.
Cell max was more animalistic than mindless
@@delaware5407 maybe cellmax and broly was controlling their ki with their subconscious mind, as cell and broly were born to adapt in any situation, blowing up earth will make an end to their goal, so their subconscious mind must be controlling that for them
Loving the hair mike!
Interesting video. But I'd love to really get your thoughts on where dose Meta Cooler stack to the Androids. Not only that, but also how would he compare to the future Androids.
Meta cooler is on par with the future androids and approaching the present ones in power
My own head canon is that the planet is as durable as the strongest person on it.
That's a terrible headcanon
I love your little "asides". They always make me laugh.
Just nothing short of Awesome 👍🏼😎!
Good view points i never thought of
What if the Z Fighters fought Raditz as a team? Tien, Master Roshi, Krillin, chiaotzu & Yamcha. Krillin trains kid gohan in training for the Saiyan onslaught. Goku & piccolo train on King Kai world via Kami.
I think there has to be some natural durability that is applied and increased as mortals increase in power. Zeno ranked universes based on average mortal power, so it might make sense that the fabric of reality was made to increase durability as the average mortal power got larger. Thus you can destroy planets but you have to be intentional. If Goku and beerus punching threatened the universe, Broly and Gogeta punching would absolutely shatter it, more than it already did lol
This topic is easier to explain really
The Writes don't prioritize Power levels over Story telling.
I always only thought about ki control when it comes to full power super saiyan, and moves like the macansosapo... special beam cannon.
This is quite useful but also brings up so many questions 😂
This all makes sense especially when u consider what it took for vegeta to go ultra ego against granolah. Bcuz he doesnt have to care about the planet hes on and the people there he can be that destruction god and truly give himself away to his full power and true nature.
It is the same reason Goku can be hurt by a random Freiza force goon in Resuriction F. They only use full power when they want even in base form but most of the time they most likely sit below 300 pl even if SSJ.
in my opinion they learned back during the cell Saga/Android Saga to control their power inward versus outward while powering up.......................................................................................................................................................................................
Logically it’s Ki control but as a kid my reasoning was because Its not what was happening in the story > if no one said anything about blowing up the planet I auto assumed the attack would not blow up the planet.
6 Minutes that’s quickest I’ve been here
I wouldn't say they could blow up a planet by sneezing but definitely powering up.
Man pardon my ignorance upon slowly realizing with this video among many on this channel how well written DBZ is and wasn't popular simply because it was the "original" battle shounen.
4:12 shaking the earth huh... I wonder... most fights we see are on earth
Maybe Shenlong or the guardian gives earth some sort of passive protection. However I don't have much to back up this hypothesis
When-do-we-get-more-DB-Manga-Thanks!
nice
It's funny to know that the main villian in every DBZ arc either threatened or did blow up the planet;
Vegeta - tries to blow up earth with a Garlic Gun
Frieza - Blows up Namek (Eventually)
Cell - Tries to blow up the solar system
Buu - Blows up earth and many other planets
Still enjoy the ssj3 transformation to this day.
With entropy we’d overheat the earth pretty damn quickly with those kind of powers 😢
Better question why don't they blow up the planet when they miss a stray kei blast
Omaigad esto sera epico papuhs
How bout the battle of ss2 kakarot and majin vegeta
Mike always looking like a Nordic king or some shit 💪💪💪
Piccolo destroyed the moon in the saiyan arc as well but it was effortless
The earth is just that strong 🔥🔥🔥
It's been training with Harold.
now someone talk about this. I always wonder after aNamek saga, everyone's power level could potentially destroy a planet but their attack seems not do much damage on earth (only big crater, big explosive far far away, etc) it's so silly
How come Vegeta didn't blow up the planet when he self-destructed against fat buu?
A good question and I want to say the blast goes out like an atomic bomb in that some of these have a set blast radius.
Characters can control the blast radius of their ki explosions.
So it could be say enough power to destroy a 20 mile neutron star but it won’t destroy the surface area of the earth.
Same reason Super Buu didn't when he did his plot
@@True2ChainzLilWayneBS you create a blast that can kill you but control how far it goes
This topic I always considered these factors when applying head cannon since nothing makes sense after the namek saga
Why the Kamehameha wave is yellow in coloured manga ?
Ki is normally invisible to the eye and the color is often changed for dramatic purposes. The Kamehameha is blue in the anime, but in the full color manga, most Ki blasts tend to be yellow or white. I plan to go in-depth with this in a future video.
It's likely because these characters have mastered ki control so any collateral damage is localized. To destroy a moon or planet, it requires a blast with concentrated energy. It's why Vegeta powering up doesn't destroy Earth but his galick gun was powerful enough to destroy Earth.
If it sounds like I'm postulating, it's because I am. The power scaling in Dragonball is absurd.
It really is absurd. It's just a shame that many people seem to fail to realize just how insane SSJ 3 Goku's ki traveling across the universe + outside of universe 7 really is.
With this being said they need a villain that destroys planets when they transform. Thus making them stop waiting for them to power up. And imply that weaker characters can’t move during substantial power ups.
Just a thought
moro was a missed opportunity
But then what about Broly once he expless all his power after seeing his dad dead? He is still in control despite Paragus says he lost all of who he is and what hes doing?
Oh that was explained because back then we had his hands the Earth making it more durable
I mean so far so obvious. Of course they learned to control their power to not destroy the earth.
But why would a Character completely losing control like for example Gohan against Cell or Broly be able to control their energy levels? It doesn't make sense that a character who loses control would conciously think about that.
Planets?! 😂😂😂 Childs play now we’re at a point where they risk destroying reality and the balance of time and space with just a fist clash. Where are we?
Because they don't want to die with the planet. 😆
A good example of a Dragon ball character intentionally trying to destroy the environment when they power up which backs up the KI control explanation is when Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan against General Rildo.
Saiyan saga Vegeta = SSJ3 Goku in feats.
Ki Control
It's because "plot"
This is my problem with Broly & Cell Max. Ain’t no way they were controlling their power enough to not destroy Earth lol.
Well in future Dragon Ball it was explained by whis he had enhanced the planet sp it wouldn't be destroyed
All the fighters in DB.. aims to hit their opponents...not the planet
Bad writting.
Sry but your explenation makes no sense. By your logic they limit planet destroying might to a smaller AOE blast. If that is the case why does the planet not get destroyed when someone dodges a blast/beam or when someone launches large AOE attack like spammy blasts? Does a super body not have to absorb it? Why doesn't it go through the planet like Friezas blast?
Keep in mind that the power level went up exponentially. From 9000+ to, idk 9000000000+. And the fights in general look similar speed, strength and destruction wise. Every attempt to make sense of DBZ/Super power scaling is just copium. Toriyama wrote himself into a corner years ago. Making his early characters too op and then neglecting those aspects. The original Dragonball was by far the best.
Ok but if they are controlling themselves then the fights make no sense, bc they are always in a "contained mode" that would equate their power to lower than when Vegeta ever came to Earth. Also they do power up in every fight, you're telling me that they power up but they lower their power later so as to not destroy the Earth?? Also you're telling me enemies evil guys contain themselves? Freeza contains himself? Buu contains himself? Broly contains himself?????
This is a meme question but also it is a huge present plot hole that every DBZ fan learned to not pay attention in order to enjoy this show.
When Gods fight THE environments suffer....
Ur examples and excuses of Why Thy dont destrot planets is like saying During the world wars No Military has damaged the environments....😂😂😂
