- This tune really exemplifies Page's aesthetic of 'Light and Shade'. The beat Bonzo played in the minor key sections sounds very similar to the beat he played on Trampled Underfoot, only much slower. It really shows his ability to create a sense of drama but slightly pulling back on the beat at certain points and laying back on his fills. Once again, I only included the parts with drums in the video as the rest is unnecessary.
I am still tweaking the sound but I'm pretty pleased with it right now, considering the limitations of my set up. I just added a mic on the snare, an Shure SM 57, in addition to a bass drum mic and the condenser overhead. I also added a bit more reverb but I think it may be a bit too much. What do you all think? I think I should dial it back a bit.
Another great bass cover of my video, by Pete Echanique.

This is one of their greatest moments as artists, highly underrated song.
I absolutely agree! This is what separates the men from the boys , or the lions from the cubs.
George, all of your vids are just fantastic but this one in particular was a major accomplishment in my opinion because of Bonham's unique feel here and the tricky way he swings these fills coming out from a very laid back pocket is very unique and I am awestruck with this one you really supurbly showcased that roller-coaster feel he employs with many of the fills and you went toe to toe with every single one of them effortlessly right up to the last audible bar and truly did this masterpiece justice.... P.B.
Thanks very much, I really appreciate that !
I calculate that at this rate you should have the whole catalogue done in 57hrs and 32 minutes. Another Top Job George. One of my favourite songs - thanks
Matt Cartwright 😁
Damn, this is another great tune. Yet another lesson in those ghost notes too. That quick little fill on the snare is so hard to do consistently. This is another one that seems easy but is not at all, it has so much depth (as displayed here). Thanks again, George.
I love the reverb settings personally.
Another cool lesson great job and lesson GEORGE!!! Thank you😊
A Fantastic piece of drumming...and a great organic stripped back drum sound.excellent steady exciting drumming...
Thanks very much
Your punctuation and understanding and feel for the grove. and the capturing of the spirit of that drum track. is outstanding musicianship.base drum to hats and timing is impeccable...you make it sound effortless..which it is certainly not..👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Those huge, simple fills Bonham does in this song are really a testament to Bonham knowing what to play. Not too much, but also exactly enough, leaving a lot of room to show off chops on the live versions. A lot of zeppelins music takes this form. Live and studio are two completely different musical experiences
Amazing George ! It still amazes me how your kit sounds just like bonzos
Great playing
Your snare is Freaking Killer
Drums sound great with the addition of the snare mic, a big wow! While I'm a huge reverb fan as a guitar player with Fender amps, I would just tweak it back "slightly" and that's it George.
This is becoming a daily routine of sitting down and watching you play drums. Super drumming pal!
Great tune...haunting and ominous verses but an uplifting chorus outro. Fantastic drumming George. I am looking forward to your take on "In the Evening" and "All of My Love".
Your kick and snare sound so close to the recording. Great cover!
An absolute favorite.
Great 👍 playing wow and the sound is fn spot on. Sounds just like Bonzo in my opinion
Thank you!
Dude that was amazing!!!! I enjoyed every second of it
Still, after all the decades, my favorite Zep song.
Spot on!
Great cover! Thanks for sharing!
You are THE man, George!
one of my favorite tunes
Great tune. Great playing. And the soft touches on the bass drum was great like how Bonzo's played it.
Wow George that SNARE DRUM Sounds So PERFECT! Sharp Cutting Snare Sound, Yet Not Harsh!
My favorite Zeppelin song! Great job!
The sound here is golden!!!!
Thanks T-bone!
Awesome job George!
That snare drum has an amazing sound! Wow. Great drumming George! Thanks so much!
Thank you Bill.
The outro fill (like the last audible fill during fade out) was the only thing I ever heard Bonham do that I knew was a mistake. Another classic. Looking forward to DBTS next!
Nice!!
One of the best led zep song ! And you're doing a fantastic job. Is there a way to have the recording of your drum without the led zep track please?
That was fucking awesome George!
mmm that bass drum sound though
I like the reverb on the snare it sounded good to my ears
Muito bom
Has your channel covered The Rover? I’d love to see that one.
Parabéns... Gostei curti e vou seguir... Manda mais do led
Couldn't be closer!
Hey George, any recommendations on getting something in the way of a Natural Maple setup without breaking the bank?
my god your bass drum makes my ears gasm lol
That's a good thing, right??😂
of course
Hi George. I don't think there's too much reverb. I really like natural sound of your drums. I've been wanting to ask you, how do you record sound? Is it directly on your camera, can you add another overhead microphone and take stereo? Some cameras do have stereo feed. If anything, maybe consider recording L/R. It would bring sound up on another level.
So did you switch to dynamic mics? I see your using close miking technique. Makes it a lot better don't it. Back in the 80's when I first started recording all I had was one SM58 (clone), though I still had a lot to learn I figured out basic "mic placement" in the particular room I was in.
Raymond Ward Yeah, I just added a SM 57 on the snare and an AKG D 112 on the bass drum for more clarity , but I'm still relying on the overhead condenser quite a lot. I really don't know anything about miking , I'm still experimenting. I just know that I like the sound of the drums with some air and space between them and the mics. I wouldn't want to close mic all of them. I want to capture the whole sound if the kit as one instrument , but have some detail in the snare and kick.
Trampled underfoot drum covrr
Could you do a cover of Swan Song?
Você é o único a tocar esse som no CZcams
What makes this song seem hard to play?
Also what's your opinion on "Everybody Makes it Through"? The Physical Graffiti Deluxe version, not the version on Coda Deluxe.
I like that version , but it sounds a little like a rehearsal take to me. Jones keyboard is a little loose, sloppy . I think I would like it more if the keyboard part was more finished sounding. I love that haunting progression though.
Yea I agree with the keyboard being very sloppy at times, but I i kind of took that intro keyboard riff for something I was messing around with. Here's the link If you want to check it out. soundcloud.com/wagegap/light-2/s-IyRFd
I like it it, cool hypnotic vibe...kind of menacing.
BONZOLOGY with Terry & George thanks for checking it out, it really means a lot!
Forgot how groovy this song was.
