  • Finnish artist Viktor Klimenko sings Gloomy Sunday, "The Hungarian suicide song", in Russian with religious message. The translation is different from Pjotr Leschenko's well known 1935 version. Виктор Клименко- Она пред иконой
    The most famous version was recorded by Billie Holiday in 1941.
    Composed by Hungarian Rezső Seress in 1933.

    Oh yes, he is a Finn. His grandparents' Cossack families come somewhere from Ukraina, but he himself was born in Pyhäniemi, Karelia in 1942 and the family was evacuated to Finland with the rest Karelian Finns during the war. Actually, he has never lived in Soviet Union or Russia.
    Since 1944 peace treaty Pyhäniemi has belonged to Russia and is called Святнаволок.
