“A smart man knows how to deal with every situation. A wise man knows when a situation should be handled without him.”
Thank you. I need to remember this.
We all need to remember this.
Good quote. Any idea where it's from? I tried looking it up, but no luck. Found a couple that were close, but not this one.
Oh shit!
So I can be wise without being smart
@@bennie1079 yes you can. Though I would encourage you to be smart, knowledgeable, and wise.
Stepping down when you're not the one for the job is the mark of a true professional and in this case shows more empathy then if House had stayed.
Spell check"than" not then.
@@dennisparker2496 Yeah I caught that after post but frankly didn't give enough of a shit to change it, thanks though.
Being an ass while breaking bad news to a patient doesn't sound like a professional thing to do. Tbh this sort of behaviour can lead to physical conflicts in some cases.
@@dennisparker2496 Grammar checking? Cringe.
@@IshanKashyap001 If you're willing to fight someone over a little bit of sass I think that warrants a whole other diagnosis. Beyond that it really doesn't detract the point that the professional thing is to leave in a situation that he doesn't have the emotional tact for. But this is entertainment and thus so subjective.
I remember when I was sexually assaulted by 2 men during the first “let up” of COVID in June 2020, when restrictions started to wane. I was drugged at a restaurant, taken to a house, and assaulted, I had bite marks and bruises all over. The officer that stayed with me in the ER was a young man, probably younger than me by at least 5-6 years, who was very kind and respectful. Didn’t talk unless he had to, didn’t touch me. The nurses took pictures of the injuries, and he stayed in the room but looked away when needed. He never touched his phone, was just acting in a professional, strong presence to help me feel safe but at the same time, he took the situation seriously. I never learned his name, but I still appreciate his work during that day.
I’m sorry this happened. 😢

That is more of a unique situation with her, since she needed someone that's just blunt and honest amd can't lie for anything. Most others in her position probably need a more...gentle presence.

House realized in zero flat with the "dont touch me" response from the victim. Calm, collected, and once the realization hit, he knew right away that the best decision he could make was have another physician take the charge.
Specifically he knew she needed a female doctor.
Technically the channel is skipping the pauses, but it's not the big of a pause so you are mostly right.

[Your head]
Dude. This makes sense, I'd imagine people who've suffered assault would react this way.
People react differently, her reaction is due to trust being broken with men. When he went to give the tablets PTSD took over and she reacted due to fear of being hurt again.
Some people can have major attacks, they can "relive" the experience over and over again in their heads whilst on the outside you'll hear them screaming/shouting for help etc.
It's a disgusting act to do to a person, it takes their life away, they feel vulnerable, they feel like they have no control, they feel like their lives are worthless. People who do this act should get the same time in prison as murderes because simply put... They destroyed someones life and it's irreparable. You can live a happy life, but you will always have your head screwed up.
I know due to a friend who I was able to talk out of PTSD attacks, it's quite scary to see one when you are not used to them... For me, I could feel the fear in my friends voice, and she couldn't hear anything as she was far gone. Over time I was able to build a trust where even during a PTSD attack if I was to constantly ask questions and talk to her she was able recognize my voice and come back then answer said questions to keep her mind away from the shit. This worked as I was like a "safety net" for her, she saw me as a person she could be safe with and her mind recognized my voice as a protective figure.
My other friend wished the person had let her go to the forever sleep afterwards... mostly after the system only gave the guy 2 years when he did it to an underage 11 y/o.
@@Ghosts1129got raped as a child, I'm not out here smacking pills out of people's hands and singlehandedly carrying a hatred for a group of people. Trauma is trauma but I'm tired of this something less than 6 percent of men meaning let's act like all men are like this.
They do react like this. This is accurate. I speak from experience. I wasn't raped it didn't get that far but I was sexually assaulted and you feel just like this.
@@insankamil2909 After experiencing sexual assault of any kind, it’s not remotely uncommon for the victim to develop an aversion to physical contact and intimacy in general. They may also consciously or subconsciously avoid people who are associated with the perpetrator or share traits of the perpetrator. Victims of sexual assault often develop PTSD and may never truly feel safe again because of the trauma that was inflicted upon them.
In most cases of sexual assault, the perpetrator is someone who was close with the victim such as friends, family, significant others, spouses, family friends, etc. It is recommended that the victim and those close to them cut off all contact with the perpetrator and do everything possible to prevent the perpetrator from getting into contact with the victim.
My friend can't even have sex with a woman who has blonde hair or tattoos because of his rapist. When his gf got a tattoo, he broke up with her, and every one of her friends told him, " Get over it. It's not that serious. You're a man, men can't be raped, they can only be the rapist. Be happy you got some action at that age. If your dick was hard, then you clearly liked it." Shit sucks, I feel so bad for anyone that's been through it, especially men, because it's never taken seriously and never acknowledged that they can be raped too.

It’s Hollywood most likely that was not an act
idk that whole aggressive "Dont touch me!" seems very fake. Like....thats not how people respond. Thats how men write women in scripts....this whole episode kinda sucks actually. it SCREAMS of 'this is what men think victims are like"

@@nhugh23 dont assume anyone's experiences first of all. like, sorry you believe cringe acting but from all of MY OWN life experiences, this is a very over dramatized response.....
Idk if someone posted an ep summary but i believe the way things go is house gives her a very flat no nonsense forward answer about what happened to her. Shes in shock at how he talked to her. After this scene with Cuddy the woman actually requests House as her doctor. Its a way for her to try and regain control of her life. He refuses her and says he will get a therapist for her.
She tries to kill herself (again a control thing) and ultimately house does say he will try to help her.
It’s a big house growing moment because he hates interacting with people instead trying to solve their problems through lab tests and medical procedures but her problem cant be solved this way. For him to cure her he must connect with her emotionally.
He then gets sorta blackmailed into a situation where she wont discuss the rape situation unless house tells her about his leg issue. House gives a big long speech about a past trauma but she doesnt believe it. In the end it turns out his story is partially true but that he swapped the characters. Finaly near the end he tells her who the people really are in his story and she opens up about the rape incident
It is found out that the woman is actually pregnant from the sexual assault and house says she should terminate but she says no on the grounds of even a fetus is life and it would be murder (she is religious)
I could be wrong but i think by the end she does agree to end the pregnancy despite her religious views.

Love this episode. Esp the conversation between House & this patient. You get to see a little deeper into House. You realize that sometimes its easier to be vulnerable to a complete stranger than someone you know.
The girl still kept House as the attending physician. Sometimes, sympathy and pity just cuts deeper into a psyche.
Honestly great episode, house opening up was a breath of fresh air
I'm glad he didn't bother to go through the ret@rded questions and psych crap.
House immediately recognizes not only the problem medically but also the root problem. Trust me, that is extremely rare for a doctor.
He didn't tried to touch her, he just offered her the pills.
I honestly loved this moment. House knows for a fact that he is not the dr. For this rape victim.
Some people cannot help themselves from being assholes. He, as everyone knows, is onenof those people. He knows it and he's honest about it. He also JUST insulted her like three times, he's already scared that poor girl to death. Any further treatment will have to be conducted by someone else, she wont comply with him because shes probably more scared to death of him. She wont even let him touch her, rightfully so.
He just knew that someone else needed to do the job. But there's also something else, and its a testament to how good of an actor this guy is. The way he looked at her when he realized, the way he said oh my god. I dont remember many moments in the show where he has the kind of empathy he had in that moment. Its such a subtle, yet loud look, and it shows how he is still human and still has emotional weakness. And how emotional weakness is a strength, because he immediately stopped his quips (which we previously assessed that he is nearly incapable of doing) and demanded she be treated by someone else.
People like house are the best people to talk to. Theyre genuine. Theres no nonsense, will always tell you like it is and is just being real. I get why people dont like his personality but honestly id strive to be friends with a guy like house.
Because sometimes you need the blow softened, or you simply cannot handle it. House's weakness is that he does not understand boundaries and how to help someone psychologically.
He's certainly a useful person to have as a friend at times, but he is only going to make it hurt worse if, for example, your relative dies.
Sure this is a TV show but I love how quick witted he is. The fear was a reaction to the pills which was probably how whoever raped her, drugged her. So he instantly knew he needed someone to come in from a different angle and someone who's female to make her more at ease.
At first I thought she was laughing

The writing in this episode was phenomenal.
I like how he said EXACTLY the wrong things at the right time 😅
This was one of the best episodes for me, the way that she specifically asks for him and how House actually puts himself in what is a strange and uncomfortable situation to appease her is really great to see and I think very relatable
That's the first time I've seen house show abit of care to his patients
Really, not season one with the woman who was misdiagnosed as schizophrenic? Even at the end, he kept her secret that she was the one who called social services to care for her son and let the kid think it was him in order to preserve his relationship with his mother.
House cares for his patients on more than one occasion.
Watching shorts = Watching the show isn't it.
Poor girl and I know how it feels even after you’ve told your loved ones and they still right you off and being the bad guy for you telling them to not touch you because you still can’t shake it
Take it easy House, or she gonna send you to VALHALLA

Even though house is a bastard in many ways, at least he was nice enough to inform his boss he wasn't the right fit for a patient who was R.
He did care in his own way. Loved the hell out of this show.
House knew immediately he was just going to make everything worse for the patient and step back. Gotta hand it to him
Proof that house does have a heart, even if small
Very appropriate choice of music considering the subject matter
Even House knows when to leave a situation

This was a beautiful episode
Wish i could show clip to everyone who called me "moody" and "angry"

At least he's willing to admit when he absolutely needs to butt out.
This was a heartbreaking episode! The performances are phenomenal across the board!
Love this show!!
House is an unmitigated and unapologetic bastard. But even he has his moments of real compassion.
His "Oh, God" was just... 😢
Was rewatching clips and you notice how her attitude doesn’t change even though she was given good news. That is how you know it was worse. I love how it is all in the details.
