Love: the runny mashed potatoes. The princess Leia hairdo. The gorgeous colorful table. The clear explanations without lots of filler words. The enthusiasm you show for this project. And your love of Hubby. Thank you!
One of the most informative videos I've seen yet. Thanks for being thorough. I like knowing where I can find the necessary materials!
I would add two things here: First, wear a mask when pouring dry grout. You don't want to breathe that stuff. Second, make sure your sponge isn't too wet. Slightly damp is best. If the sponge is too wet, the moisture seeps into the grout and you'll lose "structural integrity." Also, a wet sponge simply moves around the grout. Wadded up newspaper is great for cleaning off the surface.
good video, great step by step for beginners. I like using a rubber spreader only because it doesn't leave scratches on glass and certain tile. thumbs up.
Brilliant thank you Flora! Really helped me 👍👏😆 I started to re mosaic my patio table yesterday, now after watching your grouting I'm off to complete it! Tips on products & materials are really helpful!!! Your finished piece of art is beautiful, hope mine turns out ok!!! 💞🙏💞
Excellent video! Thank you. Feeling inspired to try my first piece. Going to try mosaic the top of an old metal bird bath and maybe also a patio table because yours is so beautiful!
I love it!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Love your mosaic table! I'm a mosaic artist as well and I recommend using a medium sized paint brush for applying your grout. It works SO WELL! And they're cheap to boot. Works the best for filling int he cracks and working quickly.
Great job, thank you you've answered all my questions. I just need the tile clipper tool and Iam ready to go do my outdoor side table.
Beautiful and thorough lesson!
So beautiful!! loved how it turned out. I will definitely try this
Wonderful instructions! Thank you so much!!!
great video. i've been watching a few to learn ho its done. yours by far the best! i am a glass fuser and am expanding my horizons. Thank you :D
such a nice design, beautiful work!
Great table and nicely paced and explained video. Thanks
I love this colourful piece...you've inspired me to go out and purchase my materials...Thanks Flora...you did an awesome job and for sharing this piece :)
absolutely beautiful
Hi flora, I was inspired to make mosaic table tops too, but what found, which made it easier when grouting is that I used an old flip flop which helped spread out the grout ...was cool ...cool video
Thank you! Well presented! Keep up your good work! God bless!
That is really beautiful.
BEAUTIFUL JOB!
you are so talented. such a pretty little table. great job.
I think that this table is absolutely gorgeous. you now have a new subscriber. excellent tutorial
Thank you, I've always been curious about mosaics. Now I think I can do it.
GREAT VIDEO! Thanks for taking the time to share with us all!
Thank you so much for your kind words. Hopefully, you were inspired to create your own!?
Beautiful table.
oh coolness. What creative interesting ideas!
I wasn't really feeling it at first but it turned out amazing, very beautiful :)

i love it thanks...
Thank You so very Much. Excellent Presentation. Look Forward to more clips from you. feel ready to give it a try. You have a friend in ST John USVI.
very pretty table :)
Thank you very much!
Great video and very informative! I have a bunch of stained glass sheets can I use them to do mosaic?
Just use your hands to get the grout in. Much easier
Thank you!!!
thanks Flora. I watched other mosaic videos and they seem to waste a lot of time on unnecessary stuff. Your video was very clear and straightforward without being boring. Do you plan to do any more mosaic projects any time soon? thanks.
Why not just slap a good handful of grout onto the center of the table and use your gloved hands to get it into the crevices and to spread it around? You could have covered that whole table in the 20 minutes it took you to just do PART of the top. But the end result is nice, none the less.
beautiful can I do this on my plastic table top thanks
Love your project! I’m just starting out and wonder if you used a backing on top of your table or did you glue the pieces directly onto the metal...
Hi Flora- Thanks for your informative video. I'm excited to use metal for a few projects I have in mind. I've used E6000 glue for other metal/ jewelry projects- and wondered what you thought about using it on metal for mosaic? It does dry slightly flexible so-it might expand and contract with the metal as the temperatures fluxuate? But that might not be the best thing for grout....so I'm torn..
nice
Hey, this table is really gorgeous! I was wondering if it would be better if you use a paint brush to put the grout on? It seems like the putty knife would scratch your pieces. I used it on my Mosaic table and it worked great.
You can get a lot of pieces like bags of rocks and colorful rocks at the dollar store a lot cheaper than Hobby Lobby. They can be too expensive for their projects.
The thrift shop is a great idea too. I wanna try this with plates on a big table.
wow
Hi I love the video, Have a question about the minwax in the can says that is to be used on wood so I am confused please help Thanks
Great video what is the color of grout you used? thanks
love the video....was that a dry scrubbing brush in when you were doing the buffing...or were the bristles a bit wet?
I'm wanting to do this on a metal fire pit, just around the outer rim. Is this still a method to use? I'm mainly wondering about the sealant at the end and glue at the beginning as far as flammability. Thanks!
i have a question about the minwax acrylic coat. if it's acrylic, how does it adhere to the mosaic pieces?
btw, that is one of the prettiest color schemes i've seen. beautiful design too.
using a sponge to remove excess grout is much easier than scraping with a knife!!
please wear a mask when mixing grout, important safety precaution as the dust can settle in your lungs and cause serious health problems.
can I do this on plastic table top since it would be for outdoor use
I mix the grout with more water, because the grout must run into the holes. it is more easy, when you use a plastic card instead of this metal tool
Did u use weldbond?
How did you deal with the holes in the table top???
Flora, what do you suggest for wood surfaces? I bought a couple of tables at a yard sale and I want to do mosaic tiling. One would be indoor use and the other for outdoor use. Thank you.
***** Hi ladies- In my experience- no matter what sealer/ or adhesive you use- wood is NOT a good substrate for exterior use. I've lost more than a few mosaic tables, benches and plant stands to the outside elements because of the wood substrate-so I won't tempt fate again. The wood swells, the grout buckles, and the pieces fall off. Now I use concrete backer board (Lowes or home Depot)Make a pattern of your wood table and cut the backer board slightly larger so the edges extend at least an 1/8 ". You can use a jigsaw to cut it, but your tile nips work well for shaping curves, and trimming if necessary. Be sure to wear a dust mask if you use a jigsaw to cut with. I use 1"-1 1/2" drywall screws and a screw gun to attach the backer board to the wood. Put the screws in a 4" - 6" grid pattern (like you would attach a sub-floor for a bathroom tile job). Then proceed as you normally would. Be sure to seal it yearly or more- depending on your climate. In my experience- the extra prep work ensures a long lasting mosaic piece~
Would a plastic spatula make the grouting a little easier? And maybe even less groute to clean off?
***** Awesome! thanks for responding so quickly! I have always been mesmorized by mosaics and decided to try it for myself... and have my dad do it with me. SO im going to do a quick basic run tomorrow... but can't wait to learn more and continue. Your table is so beautiful, thanks for sharing all this great info!
Do you have any tips for making your surface more level if your materials are of various thicknesses or textures? Thanks!
Ooo, that's a tough one. I guess what you can try is thickening up the glue on the bottom of thinner pieces, therefore, raising the level of the piece to match the one next to it? Silicone can do this, as well as tile adhesive (used by professional tilers). I often have this happen with a lot of my pieces that use broken plates and pottery. I sort of just work with the unevenness, and that's when I use my hands to get the grout in all the different levels of crevices, and that evens it out a little. Also, adapt with your design to work around the issues. If you want things flatter at the center of a table (to, say, put a glass on), use similar thicknesses at the center. Then use the mismatched stuff as a border or a place that won't affect the level of things. I hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by and your support of my channel!
beautiful ! the only doubt I have is about the tranferring of the design to the table, could you be so kind to explain to me ? Thnk you !
you can make your design on a large piece of paper. then you transfer it onto the surface with something like "SARAL transfer paper".
I bought a similar metal IKEA table to make a mosaic out of it, however, the edge is curved so its shape is more like a frisbee. I want to flip the table top over and put the mosaic in it like that but it's depth is almost an inch. What kind of filler could I put in it so when I put the tiles on they come up even with the edge of the table. I was thinking concrete.

lovely piece, love it,ive been trying out doing some pieces and it addictive, ive even start a channel.you can check it out, thanks
Beautiful mosaic! I had a hard time hearing you, your voice was very soft and low. Recommend speaking louder on your next video. Thanks.
I enjoyed the video, but I would have like to see you created the design on top of the table - All of a sudden time passed and the table top was finished and I did not see how you did it - Very disappointing - The end product was beautiful - Perhaps a longer more complete video
what I found hard for me is to here you...
ShizzelSnaps oh really??? heard of auto correct that changes it without you realizing!!
I mean really people not all is stupid the thing is I just couldn't hear it!! Such mean people everywhere...
Hello you are very beautiful and lovely your wife like you want Thank you very much
Sorry but I couldn't hear you either!
This seems like a great video but your voice is so low that it's too hard to hear you. You need to wear a Bluetooth mic if you're going to sit that far away from the phone while videoing. I stopped watching after 1/3 of the way through. I did want to sit here constantly struggling to hear you.
I could hear you just fine. It's probably just different devices having different volume issues.
This is the best video that I've seen on making a mosaic table. I saved this on my favorites. Flora does a great job of going through all the steps, materials, etc. She gets to the point without adding a lot of unnecessary bs.. I plan to make a mosaic table for my patio later on this spring. I plan to use a plain round metal table. I also checked Home depot and they carry a large variety of the polyblend grout in various colors.
