  • This plant breeding lecture explains about the process of marker assisted selection process in details. Marker assisted selection is a technique by which plants are selected based on molecule or markers using quantitative trait loci which are specific genes present in plant cell providing some measurable expression. Marker assisted selection is more advantageous compared with the traditional plant breeding techniques. In this lecture I will also talk about the advantages and disadvantages of marker assisted selection.

    Hii Shomu
    I have some questios regarding Genetic and QTL. if possible please give Answers 1)How to distinguish quantitative trait and polygenic trait?
    2) How to dealing with simple and complex trait?
    3)How quantitative trait express?
    4) How to localize genome regions or chromosome region in QTL?
    5) How can we use trait distributions and segregating populations in order to genetic factors involve?
    6) How can we combine phenotype distribution from mapping population with genotype data from mapping population, in order find correlation between marker polymorphism and trait polymorphism?
    7) How to map QTL?
    8)Mechanism of complex trait for QTL analysis?
    single gene for QTL analysis?
    10)Regulation of complex traits?
    Thank You

      There is no difference between quantitative and polygenic traits
      Means both are of same meaning

      @Mayo_Kehie Před 4 lety

      1. Quantitative traits and Polygenic traits are same.
      3. Quantitative traits are expressed in the form of Yield, Plant Height, no. of grains etc. Which can be measured.

      I am also not sure but he said 'intensity of color'. It's quantifiable so maybe it counts in too.
