@@stevenwolff6866 That's not a bad thing. I live in NYC, and to me going into Manhattan for "a day in the city" basically means the Barns and Noble in Times Square and lunch at a low-budget food court or fast-food restaurant. I prefer books to museums or theaters.

I remember my mom telling me that back in the 1950's Ladies would get all dolled up to go grocery shopping. hat , white gloves, and a pants suit. hair coifed just so. now its sweats, a dirty tee shirt and a head full of curlers. with 5 screaming kids in tow.
men wore Brooks brother's suits well groomed , with a hat, matching shoes /belt and looking stylish. now. well pretty much the same except for the curlers.....
Baby Boomers happened and became dirty hippies.

Americans became yobs and slobs
The hat shop lady went on to play Larry Mondello's mother on Leave it to Beaver.
