As someone who used to read Webtoon religiously, like in the days where I Love Yoo had like 27 episodes out and Lore Olympus was barely starting to get attention, Sweet Home was starting up and UnOrdinary was like a main reason people had Webtoon- Operation True Love was the first Webtoon I binge read in like, 4 years. It’s like such a fun and entertaining comic and the characters have me either laughing or kicking my feet like a crazy person- or absolutely burning with the rage of a thousand suns T^T. Even though the plot may be seemingly basic I think its well done- I’m also so happy both of the love interests are like actually green flags too. Eunhyeok I love with my entire heart but Dohwa ….Dohwa I cry over fr :’3
Uh wow this is almost weird to read because I think you and I were webtooning at the same exact time. It was exactly as you describe! I still remember like one of my most exciting moments was when I made a pun about I Love Yoo and Siren's Lament both getting featured around the same time because I knew the authors of both were friends and I made a pun with Adelle's song Hello (hello from the other siiiiide) and the author replied to my comment with something like "how did you know" or something like that and I was so excited over that lolol. And I just got back into webtoons again very recently. Kept feeling like this one won't be my cup of tea because I just don't like love triangles. Tbh I think consuming so much romance context is unhealthy, I think it's affecting me badly and has become an addiction in a way.
@@essennagerry Omgg yes I remember getting top comment or getting a creator’s reply was everything on that app😭, and it’s totally understandable to have that stance on romance media - especially when it comes to the romantic image that Webtoon likes to give relationships. I can absolutely say that when I was on Webtoon 24/7- or consuming the general romance media popular when I was in middle school- it affected the way I viewed how relationships work, and I looked at healthy relationships as “weaker”, which is NOT great. So I can definitely agree that too much romance media is unhealthy, especially when exposed to young people. It’s actually a really good topic that should be discussed more often within social media ^_^

i think one of the reasons operation true love has really taken off is because all of the characters are so fully realized -- except for minu lol. but even raim, you can understand why she does what she does without necessarily justifying her. she's so starved for love, but it's parental love that she's missing, and she's looking for it in all the wrong places. eunhyeok comes off as rude and closed-off because his family situation has caused him to become guarded for fear being hurt so deeply again. dohwa comes off as someone who has everything but he's also so good at keeping everyone at arms-length that no one realizes how bad he's struggling to keep afloat on his own, and also no one is bothering to look. suae is naturally so open and loving because her parents did their best to love her and now she has so much love to give back but minu took that love for granted and now she's become a people pleaser and doesn't even realize when people are taking advantage of her kindness. at the start of the comic i was wondering what the ceo god took in as love for suae to be considered unloved because she clearly is very loved by her parents and friends. she's considerate, kind, and self-less, and she clearly learned it from her parents. even raim, despite all the jealousy she feels, still loves her as a friend and sister. how is it possible that she has no love points. love isn't just romantic. but i think now i'm starting to understand that's kind of the whole point of the comic. the ceo god has been so myopic in what love is, he never considered familial love & friendships; how loves comes in various different forms and it's all around -- so long as you don't take it for granted. and also how love can turned into other feelings if we don't handle our emotions correctly. idk if that's the actual takeaway from the story but it's what i've taken from it.
The art style is also very captivating. The story setting is one very liked by the public (meeee) I think those two aspects are also a big reason as to why it’s popular.
Also, the story telling is AMAZING. Like it doesn't feel 2-D or made up, you really feel drawn towards the characters. And there were certain panels where you can't help but just pause right there, take a look at whats happening and let everything sink in. My favourite part was not the whole romance thing but how the friendships were portrayed and how the author dealt w unrequited love(fl's friend and the junior guy). It was honestly so so well done. The best moment imo was the one where ML and his friend come in terms with thier uh feelings? Miscommunications..? how they finally understood each other and were able to move on. That one scene w thier in-game avatars and ML says "..We can still enjoy this game together"

you should read hooky its the best webtoon ever pls believe me (its just my favorite). btw its a finished webtoon and has books (i recommend the original webtoon tho, some stuff got cut out of the books so they a little different). its a fantasy webtoon about children witches and royalty navigating an unequal/oppressive kingdom. I also recommend miriams new webtoon, which i haven't been keeping up with bc I've fallen out of reading webtoons in general (i have been meaning to get back to specifically this webtoon tho.) It is about a circus full of dead people but the main character doesn't believe in magic. (these are not the greatest summaries ever.)
@saq1463 Some things were tidied up to either fit the whole story into three books, fix grammer mistakes, or make the book more kid friendly. Some of the art of the pannels are changed as well to make the art style more consistent since Miriams art style has changed since when the comic came out. To be more specific tho the story with the hunter and snow white got taken out, when Dani, Dorian, and everyone came across those two witches that owned a school, they weren't naked like they were originally, William calls Damien a gnome instead of a fairy when they first meet. There's probably a couple of other small things like that I'm overlooking, but what's really bothersome is the third book's pacing. I haven't actually finished reading that one, but the wedding pages don't hold up as well as they do in the webtoon. In the webtoon there's a flashback to will and Monica as kids, and then it shows them thinking even through their doubts, their reassured to go through with the wedding because of the friendship they've built over their lives. I think that adds a lot to the context of their marriage and dynamic but its completely taken out of the book. That's the only thing specific but theirs potentially more things like that. It's not the hugest deal in the world but I feel like some of these take away from certain aspects of Hooky and its charm.
I’m so glad you made a video re-telling this story, because after following it for a few years, I just got so so tired lmao. every episode was like “blah blah blah *she’s flustered* something confusing happens, people acting extremely unrealistically doing things no one would ever do, random plot line that has nothing to do with the rest of the story is introduced” and in the end im just confused and entertained lol. The story has always reminded me of a fever dream some koreaboo had after trying to script a k-pop love story… just bad. And unnecessarily crowded with plot holes. SO MANY PLOT HOLES. So once again, thank you for making it simple so I can not read the illiterate comic, and still enjoy the ending 😘

I don't read webtoons regularly anymore, but when I did I Love Yoo was the biggest drama, and overtime this is how I felt about it LOL. It was really entertaining when some specific plot line or even was happening but overall the pacing felt like it was going nowhere and you couldn't tell what was supposed to happen next, reading it week by week. Then I came across a tiktok of someone summarizing what's happened in it more recently and I was a little gagged ngl but I won't read it myself bc of the bad pacing lol
I personally wasn't a fan of Operation: True Love because it kept saying that no one loves Su-ae even though her parents love her (or so it really really seems) and just undervaluing every form of love but romantic love. I got tired, so I just gave up halfway. I liked the art and the premise, I just wished it wouldn't keep doing that.

I think there's an explanation for this in the webtoon (potential spoiler below). I do agree with your sentiment about familial and platonic love. I know that Su-ae has other friends, so it would be great if the webtoon explored those too. THIS PART MIGHT BE A SPOILER The love score is being manipulated. There are some hints at it with the phone glitching out. Later on, the manipulation becomes a bigger plot point and causes Su-ae to investigate the phone and her score. I'm not sure if familial or platonic love are a part of the love score, but this could be one explanation for it
Season 2 comes out in April and will eventually be showing the characters post high school😳🫶🏼 so excited. I hope they don’t ruin this like they did true beauty!!

Alright, here are MY recommendations for some of my favorite romance webtoons ever. Brass and sass It’s kind of a funny story Heartstopper (ofc) Pretty much it. For other genres I’ve got plenty though.
Honestly I love a good love triangle, but it seems like a lot of said 'triangles' nowadays are just love corners/arrow. In where lets say it's a girl, a guy and a guy, both guys like her and the girl likes the both of them, that's not a triangle! If it was a true triangle one of those men is gay.
I just caught up to the webtoon and absolutely loved it!! 😆💕😆💕 cant wait for more updates! I love both love interests but just love Eunhyeok more. Dohwa is great, but i kind of liked him more as a friend and was a bit disappointed when he started developing feelings for Su-ae lmao. I hope he ends up with a happy ending, just not with Su-ae. Ion ship them 💀✋️😭🤣

I Love Yoo isn't a love triangle. Especially not between the brothers and the mc, later you can kinda view it as that? But with mutual feelings and the other being unrequited but he's supportive of them. It's a mature take on a love triangle, not the typical "2 guys fighting over a girl" of which the only intent is to ensue ship wars so the readers get invested in the question of who "wins".

And even if it wasn't an intentional love triangle, as long as a lot of fans are arguing about who the main character should be with, I kinda see it as an unintentional love triangle so I still think Amanda would enjoy it.

And even then there hasn't even been a kiss so to expect a lot of romance when it's a drama it can get really disappointing.

you should read hooky its the best webtoon ever pls believe me (its just my favorite). btw its a finished webtoon and has books (i recommend the original webtoon tho, some stuff got cut out of the books so they a little different). its a fantasy webtoon about children witches and royalty navigating an unequal/oppressive kingdom. I also recommend miriams new webtoon, which i haven't been keeping up with bc I've fallen out of reading webtoons in general (i have been meaning to get back to specifically this webtoon tho.) It is about a circus full of dead people but the main character doesn't believe in magic. (these are not the greatest summaries ever.)

Some things were tidied up to either fit the whole story into three books, fix grammer mistakes, or make the book more kid friendly. Some of the art of the pannels are changed as well to make the art style more consistent since Miriams art style has changed since when the comic came out.
To be more specific tho the story with the hunter and snow white got taken out, when Dani, Dorian, and everyone came across those two witches that owned a school, they weren't naked like they were originally, William calls Damien a gnome instead of a fairy when they first meet.
There's probably a couple of other small things like that I'm overlooking, but what's really bothersome is the third book's pacing. I haven't actually finished reading that one, but the wedding pages don't hold up as well as they do in the webtoon. In the webtoon there's a flashback to will and Monica as kids, and then it shows them thinking even through their doubts, their reassured to go through with the wedding because of the friendship they've built over their lives. I think that adds a lot to the context of their marriage and dynamic but its completely taken out of the book. That's the only thing specific but theirs potentially more things like that. It's not the hugest deal in the world but I feel like some of these take away from certain aspects of Hooky and its charm.

I’m so glad you made a video re-telling this story, because after following it for a few years, I just got so so tired lmao. every episode was like “blah blah blah *she’s flustered* something confusing happens, people acting extremely unrealistically doing things no one would ever do, random plot line that has nothing to do with the rest of the story is introduced” and in the end im just confused and entertained lol. The story has always reminded me of a fever dream some koreaboo had after trying to script a k-pop love story… just bad. And unnecessarily crowded with plot holes. SO MANY PLOT HOLES. So once again, thank you for making it simple so I can not read the illiterate comic, and still enjoy the ending 😘

I don't read webtoons regularly anymore, but when I did I Love Yoo was the biggest drama, and overtime this is how I felt about it LOL. It was really entertaining when some specific plot line or even was happening but overall the pacing felt like it was going nowhere and you couldn't tell what was supposed to happen next, reading it week by week. Then I came across a tiktok of someone summarizing what's happened in it more recently and I was a little gagged ngl but I won't read it myself bc of the bad pacing lol

I personally wasn't a fan of Operation: True Love because it kept saying that no one loves Su-ae even though her parents love her (or so it really really seems) and just undervaluing every form of love but romantic love. I got tired, so I just gave up halfway. I liked the art and the premise, I just wished it wouldn't keep doing that.

I think there's an explanation for this in the webtoon (potential spoiler below). I do agree with your sentiment about familial and platonic love. I know that Su-ae has other friends, so it would be great if the webtoon explored those too.

The love score is being manipulated. There are some hints at it with the phone glitching out. Later on, the manipulation becomes a bigger plot point and causes Su-ae to investigate the phone and her score. I'm not sure if familial or platonic love are a part of the love score, but this could be one explanation for it

Honestly I love a good love triangle, but it seems like a lot of said 'triangles' nowadays are just love corners/arrow. In where lets say it's a girl, a guy and a guy, both guys like her and the girl likes the both of them, that's not a triangle! If it was a true triangle one of those men is gay.
I recommend reading serena. The writing and the characters are a bit clunky but the story is filled with so much drama its fun :)

Dohwa is great, but i kind of liked him more as a friend and was a bit disappointed when he started developing feelings for Su-ae lmao. I hope he ends up with a happy ending, just not with Su-ae. I Love Yoo isn't a love triangle. Especially not between the brothers and the mc, later you can kinda view it as that? But with mutual feelings and the other being unrequited but he's supportive of them. It's a mature take on a love triangle, not the typical "2 guys fighting over a girl" of which the only intent is to ensue ship wars so the readers get invested in the question of who "wins".

And even if it wasn't an intentional love triangle, as long as a lot of fans are arguing about who the main character should be with, I kinda see it as an unintentional love triangle so I still think Amanda would enjoy it.
@@pjm.momoring People who read it for a very non existent love triangle slowly got (and get) bored of it, especially if they root for the guy who isn't the love interest (and also objectively speaking it's good he wasn't because of the age gap). And even then there hasn't even been a kiss so to expect a lot of romance when it's a drama it can get really disappointing.
