    These carnivorous plants grow in the coastal plains of North Carolina and a little bit in South Carolina. Poaching them is a federal crime. You could be fined heavily and sentenced to prison. However, it's not unlawful to have a Venus flytrap if it came from a certified grower. I'm very partial to them, since I've spent my entire life in North Carolina. Carnivorous plants are fascinating!

    • @veryberry39
      @veryberry39 Před 5 měsíci +1

      The biggest thing to know with these plants is that they HAVE to go through winter dormancy. They also need lots of sun, unless you're somewhere really hot like Arizona. They come from North Carolina, so think about that when trying to replicate their growing conditions!
      They're definitely not the easiest plants to take care of, which is why I content myself with watching videos. :P You can't trip the traps over and over, because that'll kill them off eventually. And every winter, if you don't live somewhere that gets cold, you need to put them in the refrigerator for I think a couple months (not as sure about that part).
      You want a soilless mix (so think peat or sphagnum moss), but since they're bog plants, you can just stick the pot in a container of distilled/reverse osmosis water and keep that filled. NEVER use tap water. And you can either feed them mealworms, or you can buy freeze-dried bloodworms, grind those up into a paste with water, and squirt that in a trap every so often! (sorry for the long reply, lol. My autism is showing. I don't even OWN the dang things, but I watch way too many videos!)
