Something I forgot to mention: this footage is more than TWO YEARS OLD!
I recorded it before my health got crappy, and it's been waiting for me to edit ever since. The second half of this - which is even weirder and which will be the next KSP video - was recorded at the same time. So, only after that will I hop onto the new versions (and expansion pack).
This glitch was fixed in either 1.4 or 1.5 (I tested it), so don't be surprised if it doesn't work after the video's version (1.3.0).
    Enjoy!

According to some comments, hold shift and you can offset infinitely. I'm gonna test that right now.
EDIT: Nah this is weaksauce, it still has a limit, and it's not even that far. In the video, I could offset it so far deep under the VAB, it stopped rendering the arrows. Get on my level.

Now, I'm not a mathematician, but I'm pretty sure that you were going muuuuch faster than the speed of light.
    I think you've reached...

it's actually amazing how far they pushed the unity engine with this game... but the kraken and what ever happened in those videos just shows that it definitely has some limits :D

It appears that when Kerbals accidentally discovered Faster Than Light travel, they did so inside the atmosphere of Kerbin where for a split second, a miniature black hole was formed and dissolved.

That is known as a floating point precision error. When things get too long, you simply can't store the distances accurately anymore since the data for a single value gets larger than one byte. Then things start losing resolution. Which is why the planet went crazy. I believe you could accomplish the same thing if you sent a rocket really really really really far, even without landing legs.

You ... you forcibly split the universe into at least two separate dimensions! And yet they try to coexist in the same dimension! This is astounding - we can actually see the results of multiple different actions! What happens if you go to the store, or don't go to the store? Now we'll know! If only it didn't shake so much ...
