Oh, trust me: "what are those" was dated at the film's release too. I think that's intentional though, with Wakanda being isolated from the rest of the world at that time.
Never thought about that but very very possible!
Also, the script is written before filming or editing, so the reference may have been more relevant.

Always loved Black Panther not only for the rich culture and amazing worldbuilding but also because it's such a joy to see strong female characters without the overwhelming need to have a love story as the side plot (yes, there was one but it was just a tiny part and ultimately didn't matter much).

20:16 N'Jobu was T'Chaka's brother so yes, even though T'Challa is the son of the last king, Killmonger or N'Jadaka is a prince of Wakanda and does have a claim to the throne.
T'Challa accepted because he's an honourable man and because of the guilt he's feeling over discovering what his father did.
When you watch Infinity War and Endgame, I would recommend splitting each of them into 2 parts for CZcams. Most creators do that bc there's just so much stuff to react to.

Being able to communicate with past kings is a seriously cool power for a monarch to have. Because of this power, Wakandan history extends back to before the invention of writing.
Killmonger is an amazing villain.
The heart-shaped herb is poison to anyone not raised in the royal family of Wakanda. They build up immunity gradually as children. Now that Killmonger is dead, he will be in the land of the ancestors, so he's not gone.

Fun fact: The ancestral plane he saw was real, not in his head. The Black Panther is powered by the Goddest Bast, that stuff that he drank connects him to her.

The first Black Panther reaction I’ve watched since the man himself passed where I didn’t cry. Took me awhile. Whew. But glad you loved it as much as I did! Saw it when it came out in theaters, my family rolled like 17 people deep 🥰
The "What are THOSE!?" moment seems wildly out of place... until you remember this film is set in 2016 (despite coming out in 2018) when the meme was at the height of its power. Although props to Letitia Wright for selling it so earnestly even though the meme was two years past its "sell-by" date.
To me , that moment actually made that meme feel like it wasn't a meme but an actual bit of dialogue that makes sense. Of course Shuri would say that because to her character those shoes are not only "out of fashion/date which is basically a crime for a technologically advanced people who also have amazing outfits , but also , those shoes would also be a massive hazard especially since he is not a scientist and would probably not know to be careful where he walks /to try not to bump anything in the lab.

The thing that makes both this and civil war brilliant is you can see both sides of the issue and both are relatable. A great villain has to have justifiable anger and motive which killmonger has in spades.
Too many movie villains have the generic “I want to control everything” motive. For killmonger, it was about avenging his father and bringing down the regime that made it happen.
The really fun bit was that both cousins had the same goal, to take Wakanda out into the world but with different ideals T’chaka wanted peace and to help the world grow while Killmonger wanted to turn the tables on oppression and subjugate the white race instead. But both had reasons for believing their cause.
It’s a great movie showing the world isn’t black and white but many shades of grey.

Funny thing… I had actually never seen the “What are those” meme when I first saw this movie. That line just seemed like Shuri’s youthful enthusiasm.
Fun fact: Killmonger's outfit before he got to Wakanda was modeled after Vegeta's armor from DBZ
Killmonger is one of these villains who u understand their perspective but can't go behind them following bcos of the way he is persuing it . But in the end I'm glad tchalla understood his point of view and decided to help the world . Even we have to respect mbaku here he fought for the king's place then when he was loosing he yielded bcos he wanted to look after his people and also held no grudges and saved tchalla knowing killmonger will be bad for his people too . If anyone can be next black panther now rip Chadwick boseman is no more I hope it's mbaku or shuri ❤️
What I love most about this movie is that there are a lot of African references and culture. Even the wakanda language they speak is actually Zulu from my country South Africa.
South African here… the culture references, world building and general spotlight on Africa (long overdue in my opinion but super rewarding to see) is also a huge part of why I love this film. I thought they were speaking Xhosa tho…
In the comics, Wakanda has three official languages: Wakandan, Yoruba and Hausa. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, characters from Wakanda are portrayed speaking the South African Xhosa language.
I always love Seb's reactions. The soundtrack of this movie is dope. The story and characters were dope. All I have to say is Wakanda Forever!! Great reaction man. Looking forward to you finishing this phase and coming into Phase 4.

Fun Fact - Marvel has confirmed that the reactor core that Tony made in Iron Man 2 was vibranium energy, which may have been responsible for the healing he had when it began glowing in his body, similar to the Wakandan bead they used to heal Ross before they brought him back to Wakanda. M'Baku was honestly my favorite from this movie. With Chadwick gone, I think he's the only one strong enough to be able to lead a Black Panther movie anymore. I like some of the other characters too, but after T'Challa, M'Baku was the only one that seems like he could take over.
They kind of switched it from T’Challa to Shuri in the movies but T’Challa is just smart as Tony in comics. For the movies it’s shuri. So with the vibranium their tech is amazing in wakanda.

18:51 In case you're wondering about his mother, the american (by which we're all pretty sure he meant african-american) woman N'Jobu fell in love with, Ryan Coogler confirmed what happened. She was in jail when this happened (we don't know why but we're given to understand it was an unjust imprisonment so most of us guess that she was either just in the wrong place at the wrong time or that it was for something minor that got blown out of proportion - re when N'Jobu said "They are overly policed and incarcerated), and that plan N'Jobu and "James" were working on with the blueprints and guns before King T'Chaka arrived was actually a plan to break her out of jail. That plan was clearly never seen through, so she was left in jail and died in jail shortly afterwards.
Fun fact : Shuri is now the cleverst character in mcu

And her talking about Bucky as a "broken white boy" is gold. Also his little cameo is tiny but seeing Sebastian Stan just makes my day. And that teaser from Infinity War at the end was so great. We are not ready for you to watch Cap with a beard.

I don't know why but I found myself attracted to Andy Serkis, in this movie. I can't explain it.
EDIT: The CGI fight scene, in the mines, is panned by the majority of people. Marvel made them animate it 3 weeks before release, apparently, so it was seriously rushed.
