- Come here before the tourist masses find out how amazing it is! lol Valladolid is definitely an underrated gem in the Yucatan peninsula and offers a variety of attractions in a much more peaceful than Cancun or Tulum. Valladolid is a small city of about 50,000 people with great local hotels, restaurants and an abundance of spectacular cenotes within biking distance. It's also a 40 minute drive from Chichen Itza so you can get a local bus or taxi to take you right when it opens before the droves of tourists from the big cities come in. I had an amazing time here and hope this video will be helpful to you if you're planning on visiting. xx

SafetyWing (best for younger travelers + digital nomads): safetywing.com?referenceID=alinamcleod&Ambassador
I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.

You’re right, most people don’t seem to visit Valladolid on their way to the ruins… when I was in Cancun years ago with my family, we did the packaged day trip to Chichén Itzá…with a very brief stop at Valladolid…after watching your videos, it definitely looks like Valladolid is worth a longer visit…hope you are enjoying Mexico 🇲🇽
As I've come to expect the senorita Alina finds the interesting and unique where ever she wanders. Best of all she shares these with her viewers. Another gem that I've never heard of but definitely looks worth the effort to explore.
Glad to know that Yucutan Peninsula has towns that colorful, vibrant, and offer more than beaches and all-inclusive resorts. After watching this, I'm definitely convinced that I will enjoy visiting Mexico 🇲🇽 Excellent work 👏
Yes! You will love it 😁🇲🇽❤️
An underrated tourist's destination indeed, thank you Alina this will surely make it more popular
Your videos have such a positive vibe Alina.
It's fun to follow where you are always traveling. 😃👍
Thank you so much!
@@AlinaMcleod I suggest not to ask so much about if it's safe a place or not For some it maybe safe but others it may not You have travel to places like Brasil & Colombia where foreign You Tubers who came back saying they're happy be back in Mexico You use common sense México receives half the international tourists every year than all of Latinoamérica in the same year More than 1 million 600k Americans live all over Mexico More Americans live in the Aztec nation than in any other country in the world including England and Canada It doesn't mean thing could go wrong like in any other country Mexicans welcome foreigners and will them in any way they can My legs are paralyzed sence 2 years old I travel by car all over North America 🇲🇽 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 I was robbed on my way to Las Vegas Now I'm more careful It didn't stop me from using the same route Los Angeles to Las Vegas. In Baja California México i found a gas station during the night on my way to Los Cabos Baja California Sur to watch a total sun eclipse 2 highway patrol officers woke me up They told me they wanted to know i was ok and not to leave cash scattered on the passenger's seat So i learned not to show fear To look positive but extremely alert Haven't gotten any problems anywhere with my new positiveness Just enjoy México
I was here a few days ago, after seeing Chichenitza. We didn’t have time to explore, but it felt like an amazing city, and I was happy to see more of it on your lovely video tour❤️👍🙏
Muy hermoso Valladolid y que muchos mexicanos solo van a Cancun de lo que se pjerden felicidades por apreciar esta bella ciudad tranquila cuidate Aly.
An absolute hidden gem! Perfect for those who need a break from the party vibes in Cancun or Tulum.
What a charming town! Colorful, clean and relaxing. I hope to visit it one day.
@8:50 El Cascabel one of my favorite songs. I don't see videos from tourist or immigrants in Mexico, about Mexican music. Mexico has the most types of musical genres than any other country in the world.
$40 for a room at Candelaria makes me feel really old. I stayed on the square at the Maria de la Luz in 1985 for $6. That was back in the day when entry fees to the ruins were a pittance, and free on Sundays. Cenotes were all free. I still visit Merida and Izamal, and love it, but also glad I was fortunate enough to visit years ago.
haha you went before it was even remotely touristy then
I am very happy to see you visited my hometown. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
Thank you so much Alina Mcleod.
Thanks, the color scheme of the pictures is really great❤👍
Hello Alina! Hola! 😄🙏👋🌟 I hope your having a super wonderful day! This is really a beautiful magnificent excellent video! 😁👍❤️👏🇲🇽📹🥇💯💫✨🌟 The city of Valladolid looks so marvelous! The architecture of the buildings is fantastic! Also the food in the restaurants look so delicious! The Cenote looks so amazing! It’s really cool! I would definitely like to visit the city of Valladolid one day. It is really a wonderful city! Thank you so much Alina to share with us this super magnificent video. You are the best and greatest world traveler adventurer! 😃👍👏✈️🌎🧳🗺🥇🏆💯✨🌟 I wish you Alina a wonderful beautiful marvelous blessed day. Take care and be safe Alina. Have a excellent time in Mexico! 😊🙏❤️👋🇲🇽👍✨🌟
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would definitely visit this place! Out of the way places seem to be ideal when you need to de-stress. Very nice place Alina. 💚😊
Totally agree :)
This charming town in the Yuctan in the city of Valladolid is so nice, Alina!🌸❤️
Another eye opener from you, Alina! I have never been there, but the more you share of Mexico, it would be very easy to plan it and enjoy Mexico seeing the things you have shared there. I am a fan of Mexican food, so that part would be a must to share with Alona. She keeps asking me to share what it taste like, but like we all know, it is very hard to describe it but it will end up being one of your favorites if you watch the spices. Stay safe, looking forward to seeing more from you on this trip. Loved the music you chose for this video! Cheers to our special friend, from Michael & Alona! 💖👍😃
Oh she definitely needs to try some good Mexican food!
This place seems to be so colorful and alive, with this mix of nature, history and, of course, great mexican food.
It definitely is :)
This town looks great when you are visiting Chichen Itzá , Can Cun or Isla Mujeres for no more than 2 or 3 days. If you visit the Yucatán Peninsula the best plan is to be near the ocean and enjoy swimming, taking the sun or walking along these superb beaches. I always have been curious about Merida. This city looks like a history gem full of colonial and republican palaces. Also there are many small towns with georgeous beaches near Merida. Maybe you can visit that area. This city is full of Cubans, Afroamericans from USA and also Canadian expats who enjoy a more relaxed way of live full of local Caribbean culture. Alina is having a great time in Latin America.
Valladolid is one of our favorite cities in Mexico. It is a great place to spend some time when visiting Chichén Itzá.
Glad you liked it as well!
We were just there 5 days ago and it was a beautiful 5 hour stop. We will definitely spend the night next time. Great city!
I´ve been there just for a couple of hours. I just had a coffee at one of that places by the main square. It´s worthy to spend some time on the city. Like most of the people, I was towards Playa del Carmen coming back from Chichen Itza.
Magnificent choice, in general the State of Yucatan has great diversity to offer, if you want to live in my country without a doubt I would recommend the Merida capital of the aforementioned State.
I did a road trip through the Yucatan last month and spent a few days in Valladolid. Without a doubt it was my favorite city and I love this city. I stayed at the Meson Del Marques and had breakfast every morning at the table in your video! the service was excellent and the accommodations were wonderful (at a price I felt was very reasonable). I can't wait to go back and spend more time in this city, with lots to do and everyone we met was so very wonderful!
I"ve been here. All night was very loudly. Only in the morning i found out that was celebration of Miss Mexico.
Hi Alina! I very much enjoyed your vibrant and colorful visit to Valladolid in the Yucatan! There's a lot to see and do here, without excessive cost. Good to see you safe and having fun!
Thanks, Gediminas!
I have been in Valladolid twice....First time only 4 h stop. Second time 3 nights.. I love this place...
You're very right about Valladolid, very underrated. Harriet and I had a most enjoyable time. Very Safe Less crowded than the resorts. It has an Old Town charm. Harriet and I can tell you enjoyed
your time there. Thank you for taking us there. Sending you lots of love💖💖 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond. Va.
That's lovely. Glad you enjoyed it as well!
Cenotes in Yucatan are amazing!!!!
I've been to Valladolid and I loved it. I'm Canadian as well.
I'm going to be staying in Valladolid for a couple months (hopefully) in the new year! I'm super excited watching this video. Thanks for showing me where some good spots are to visit!
What a beautiful video
Thank you!
Great picture of you Alina and great music, you did a greatvideo, you are a natural.
Nice tour. Good to see you again Alina.
Merida, Chichen Itza, and Valladolid are all on my list. It would be during the cooler months, though. It seems a bit hot in the summer. But I definitely won't skip Valladoild.
That's a very good idea. It was still scorching hot when I went.
Alina, this video is awesome , the food ,the culture and the environment is superb I like it!
Have been missing your videos as of late but just happened to see this one and have to say all videos I have seen I have enjoyed.
Another thing I have began noticing is how many of my subscriptions are Canadian CZcamsrs or ones that were from Canada.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much!
Fantastic video! The Calzada de Frailes reminds one of old town Bogota, Colombia and you can swear you’re having an out of body experience in Mexico thinking you’re back in Colombia! Valladolid in the Yucatán is an experience worth checking out.
Yes definitely some similarities
Hi Alina. thank you for sharing this beautiful place. some day we could place it to our itinerary, Valladolid Mexico, I am sure more tourist will visit this as you shown in your video... enjoy more and keep safe .. bye
I stopped in Valladolid in January, 1986(!), on my way from Palenque to Cancun. There was a nice restaurant on the main plaza, and they had something called “cochinita pibil” on the menu, so on a whim I tried it. It was amazing, and after preparing the meal myself countless times I’ve introduced a Yucatan food to many people. Thanks Valladolid!
Just wonderful! A huge country to discover and thanks to your videos we can have this opportunity. I have never been to Mexico but each corner of this country is so nice, full of history, culture, beautiful sceneries, good food, sunny weather and a friendly people. What more do you want? Thank you for sharing this awesome video with us.
Very true. It’s a very diverse country with a lot to offer.
Wow, what a lovely town.
Never been but the whole world is so much greater then any us of can imagine . Thanks so much for sharing ! Wow . This I want to visit. Sending from Canada.
Good video. So glad to see these gringo vlogs that don’t just talk about how cheap everything is in México.
Mexico is SPECTACULAR. Loved every minute there. Thank you for reminding me how beautiful Valladolid is. The Mayan ruins are incredible. Watermelon 🍉 is my favorite fruit. = ) ☀️
Glad you loved it as well!
@@AlinaMcleod Just a suggestion: you are *naturally* very beautiful, try to use little to no makeup 👍
Very helpful thanks!

Alina, great picture of Alina and great music at beginning.

The reason your safe is the people indigenous to that entire area are good honest hard working people
I really like your videos and of course Merida has many places to visit for tourists and they are so beautiful, I hope you come back soon, you are such a lovely and beautiful person I would like to travel to Canada and help me to know all the beautiful places there . have a great trip.
Thanks for the travel tips
I’ve been lucky enough to have visited Cancun several times, but never Valladolid. I’ll put in my bucket list. The burrito looked delicious, the cenote amazing! Definitely want to go. Gracias Alina!
Hope you check it out!
Valladolid is also on the way to Merida from Cancun, beautiful little town, I would definitely recommend it. Very nice video, like always.
I have only been to 4 Mexican Cities of Cabo San Lucas Acapulco Huatulco and Puerto Vallarta! Mainly cruise ports from a few cruises I have done that have stopped there! My favourites were Cabo and Huatulco! Stayed at a all inclusive in PV once but that’s pretty much it for Mexico for me! Great video! Love following along on your adventures!
Loving this Mexico trip what a truly beautiful little place off the beaten path so informative as ever Alina 👏 ♥
Glad you enjoyed it!
I always stay there for few days before Merida. Such a nice little historic town. Someone was murdered at the alter of the cathedral.
HI ALLINA.
YOUR HAT WAS MORE IMPRESSIVE IN THIS VIDEO.
Gracias por el video, Valladolid es un excelente lugar para visitar. Thankyou for the video. Valladolid is an excelent place to visit.
Que bella dama. Gracias por visitar nuestra patria y promover el turismo nacional. ¡Lovely smile and a gorgeous ayes!
That's a very nice post.
yes Yucatan especially near or in Merida is top safest place in the world!
Beautiful tour.
Just left Canada to retire and live full time in Mexico. After one month I can say that it was a good decision.
Good for you!
My kind of place.Much nicer than big cities. I will never ever get to Mexico at my age but so many thanks for sharing so many lovely places with us.
Hi Alina😊🌞
Another great video from you✌️
Looks like you having a good time there😊
Take care & Stay safe!
Best rgds// Jonas 🇸🇪
Thank you so much, Jonas!
Very nice video. Thank you, Alina 👏 sweet greeting from Houston,Texas 🇨🇱
I went to Valladolid in January for three days and it's definitely worth stating there instead of taking a bus or tour for the day. I found that three days wasn't enough to see all the cenotes there!
Yeah definitely a lot to see
Nice 🔥 sight seeing its so refrrsinh to watch your videos.
I enjoy your videos so much You are a great logger Hope you make CDMX your home base if come back before you decide it's time to go to Europe and Asia Keep enjoying the Aztec nation
Your not kidding , real nice city .
Wow Glad that bike ride was safe!! Having just returned from Colombia myself after six months there, and seeing your video in Santa Marta , when I saw you on the bike I was like "NOOOOO" 😳....but Colombia is definitely a different world than Mexico.
Cheers desde isla Vancouver
Thanks from Florida, Please Be Safe.
muchas felicidades!
Muy Bien senorita Alina, muchisimo gracias!#
In the fairly near future we are planning a trip to Cancun. Now we definitely want to add this location to our trip. Honestly I had never heard of it before so thanks for the heads up and please stay safe and well out there.
I'm very glad! Hope you have a great time
Lovely city
Beautiful 😍
Yucatan is the safest state in México, that's why they were surprise you ask them if it was safe to take the bike to the cenote jajaja
A very special place
That back-ground was huge at 7:55.
Valladolid was the "sleepy little secret" on the way to Chichen Itza, but once they deemed it a "pueblo mágico" the place got a facelift! Nice look at the Calzada de los Frailes and the hotels, thank you!
I liked your vlog and I wish a great day
All the Best for you, may you be safe and successful
Me gustan tus videos. Disfruta México.
Looks like a place I'd visit were I ever to venture into Mexico 🇲🇽 from USA 🇺🇸
Wow, spooky. I just subscribed and now you've coincidentally uploaded about Valladolid. I just recently became aware of it and I'm keen to check it out as a potential winter retirement spot (fellow Canadian here).
Meant to be haha it’s an amazing place
I like Valladolid been there a number of times
Nice!
Hi Alina,
I think I was in Valladolid, but as You mentioned only on Tour to Chichen Itza. I am curious about Your impressions on Chichen Itza. My visit there was on a 21st of March and it was very impressive at sunset. The choice was spending the sunset in Chichen Itza or in Valladolid. At this special date of the Year, the choice was Chichen Itza.
Best Regards,
Ralf
Cool stuff. Ciao from us in italy 🇮🇹
Finally! A solo traveller to this part of mexico! This is such a helpful video as. I am going to travel soon solo! Wondering where did you put your belongings when you visited the cenote? Thank u much!!
My pleasure! They had lockers at the entrance when I visited but I think you could bring some things with you too.
Hey joung girl,tanks!
Thanks!
Aw thank you very much, Jim!
I have always wanted to go to Valladolid. It looks amazing! And the cenotes! I know it’s a long shot but if you ever have a lay over in DFW with all the traveling you do, please let me know. I’d love to meet.
