Lmao Brother I'm a Sgt. The thing about having freedoms is the ability to have the feelings you have. But that gives everyone to also participate and if that includes people wearing surplus uniforms or whatever, so be it. Plus half the fun of shooting guns is dress up. Sorry you have a negative view of it. Also that isn't me shooting otherwise I'd have a better Gwot built rifle lmao. Anyway, commanders discretion on sleeves especially in the field. Quarter sleeve is nice since it allows for more airflow and doesn't get in the way of drawing. But obviously up to the operator.

I made the assumption when I saw the sleeves. At our unit and all other units I’ve trained at we do sleeves down for any field excercise.

However, you're not wrong. The uniforms represent a lot more than just a costume. So when I first dropped into arty, anytime we were in Yuma, or some hot ass place, believe it or not we dropped blouses. Straight up boots and utes with full kit on the gunline. Not too long after.. new commander, new rules. With new leadership, quarter sleeves weren't allowed but wasn't enforced in the field. Half the time we were under cammie netting so higher ups wouldn't notice anyway.
