@@poolteacher I'm sorry I missed this. I have been through quite a lot since then. Lost 100% vision in my right eye. It's been a very humbling experience. I live in Bristol Tn and play out of Janet's place. I don't recommend many instructors but you are def one that I refer people too. Oh btw everyone needs a coach and I sure could use one. Especially since my handicap.
This video has done more to help my aim than anything I have seen before. Quarter ball, half ball, three-quarter ball, and such instruction did nothing but confuse the issue of aiming. Now, once I determine the contact point, I need to make the shot, I line up the side of my cue to the contact point and make the shot. Hello Anthony, I am so glad I am not the only person who shoot like this. Way I do it is from looking cue ball center at edge of object ball then get down on it then shooting it in. I stand behind center cue ball at the edge of the ball depend on which direction Object Ball is going then I choose A,B,C and edges as well. For the most part balls go in, but sometime I get some ball shots rattling. Is it because of the speed or sometime need adjustment in between the A,B,C and edges or adjustment on how I am looking down on the edge of the ferrule/shaft ? Please let me know and give me any pointer to suggest and I be willing to work on that. Thanks again and keep up good job on your videos. I prefer to use the center of the cue selecting incremental points on the object ball as the angles increase then using the tip in sections or points on the table beyond the edge of the object ball. This ,to me, helps keep my vision focus and stroke more centered.
happy I saw this video coz i though I was doing things wrong I dont know if you have seen others showing SVB system shaft edge aimed to OB edge making cut shots well over 45 degress and trying it my self I get the same result as you that beyond 45 degree edge to contact point dont work no more unless the OB is close to the pocket and cheating the pocket.

I can see that this system helps simplify aiming by taking out the contact point of the CB from your thoughts. I usually think about both CB and OB on most all shots but strait in. This may aid in consistency which is key in billiards. Subbed.

On most shots I first visualize ball overlap then use the edge of the shaft for fine tuning. So what I’ve been doing is setting my aim like this but then I will use back hand English for spin....is this correct? I’ll aim left side edge for left English then pivot very slightly. Does this help with eliminating cut induced throw?

From snooker? Some aim their tip to an imaginary point on the object ball. They aim without the cue more or less. You can use a point on the rail when no point on the object ball.
Great Video. Got my subscription. One suggestion though. If you could edit cuts instead of walking around table every time to reset object ball video would be more straight to the point. Maybe just keep one or two of the clips of you walking all the way around if you need to add some extra dialogue for that specific shot.
Looking at set up shot view point I noticed that he 1st sees CB to OB in straight line and then pivots his aim so that the cue stick right edge is pointing at the OB contact point.

You can teach yourself to aim with your shaft from a standing position through the center of the shaft. The center of the tip is always at the center of the cueball for aiming purposes. Rookie question: I watched your video, but I don’t understand if I am moving my body, back arm, hand, to hit the cue ball at different points (and which one should I do) OR am I moving the tip of my stick placement on the cue ball to adjust my aim at the contact point? I guess I could use a basic video that shows from behind the shooter to see what happens to your body and stick to change your aim. Follow up question: when I shoot do I focus on the cue ball, stick, aim line, or contact ball? Thank you in advance!!
You should aim from a standing position. It’s much more complicated than that but that’s where this all begins. The problem with these type of aiming systems is in a game situation, it is very difficult to determine whether you have to make an adjustment to the aim point because the angle has gotten wide enough to require this. So inevitably, I would always think it’s one type of angle, but it would be a different angle that requires slight adjustment and then my shot goes off. Geometrically there are 180 different angles that can occur (backward angles don’t really work, of course) so these aiming systems that suggest four or five different aiming points breakdown given there are 180° worth of possible cut angles. How do you account for this?
This is video very outdated. I taped it in 2018 or so. However, for those who don't have a system it's better than nothing. I have been teaching my new BAM system for a few years now and it measures every angle. I can literally measure every angle to a degree or two very quickly. Then once you know the angle you just plug in the visual that goes along with that angle. It's been very effective and powerful for students to learn.

Is this system for maple or ld shafts? I was taught many years ago by a world champ ld shaft to contact and edge of shaft only for english. But that only works with ld shafts.

I like 13 mm or 12.75. Anything smaller seems to amplify stroke flaws. As for aiming, you just have to calibrate it to your particular shaft diameter. Love to have you in my online class. You’re saying you’re using the taught edge of your shaft to contact point, but you’re not. The center of your tip is but the edge of your shaft isn’t at the contact point the 2nd and 3rd soft after first straight in, in the side. I had to stop watching at that point. My buddy Jason showed me edge of shaft at center to center for cuts just under CTE up to 31 degrees best I can tell. This came from Nick DeLeon, who’s been a guy who plays where I play. Nick pots balls effortlessly, even as a pro. He does it easier than many. I didn’t get to hear their explanation, so I’m just asking for a different interpretation for my simple mind. BTW, I’m grateful for these free tips. I just don’t always understand them to the fruition I need. Most of the time you guys give me huuuuuuge epiphanies that make many afraid to play me from one day to the next. They usually assume I’ve improved too much to trust I played the same as last time. Keep it up please.
I don't aim with my shaft, I aim with the ball. I aim the cue ball at the point I want to hit on the object ball. It's always the same. I know where I want to cue ball to contact the object ball and that's where I aim it. It makes no sense to me to aim with a shaft. Some people use 13 mm tips, some people use 10mm tips. I play with an 11.75 mm tip. I also have several other shafts that range from 13 down to 10. I can switch between all my shafts and tip sizes and shoot the same shots because the cue ball never changes it's size and I aim with the cue ball.
Your system is wrong. least 15 devrees you only aim at the contact point higher of 15 degree you have to aiming with you edge of you ferrule to the contact point
I have come to realize that anything inside of 10° you can use the middle point of your shaft because I have started using this after using my own system for years and I see it all over laps at the same points

I personally double check this with ball overlap. My system is a two tier system. This is just one element.

Yes slightly.... you should do the drill over and over to calibrate your personal visuals to your specific shaft millimeter.
What size shaft did you use in the video? I just started playing pool and have a 12.5mm and a 13mm shaft and can decide between the two.

Here is your tip of the day! Tap the top of the object ball with another ball and the ball will stay in place!
Tapping divots into your table has been around for years. Has been banned in most pro tournaments for racking the balls. Patience is a virtue.

Most of the time you guys give me huuuuuuge epiphanies that make many afraid to play me from one day to the next. They usually assume I’ve improved too much to trust I played the same as last time. Keep it up please.
I don't aim with my shaft, I aim with the ball. I aim the cue ball at the point I want to hit on the object ball. It's always the same. I know where I want to cue ball to contact the object ball and that's where I aim it. It makes no sense to me to aim with a shaft. Some people use 13 mm tips, some people use 10mm tips. I play with an 11.75 mm tip. I also have several other shafts that range from 13 down to 10. I can switch between all my shafts and tip sizes and shoot the same shots because the cue ball never changes it's size and I aim with the cue ball.
Your system is wrong. least 15 devrees you only aim at the contact point higher of 15 degree you have to aiming with you edge of you ferrule to the contact point
I have come to realize that anything inside of 10° you can use the middle point of your shaft because I have started using this after using my own system for years and I see it all over laps at the same points
