- Hey Pen People!
This week’s video is on a pen that I once wrote off as a Kaweco Brass Liliput rip-off, but having tried the original, I’m giving it a second thought. Check it out here:

The ink I used in this video is called “Pluto and Beyond” by Colorverse. I bought it as part of a pack, which you can get here:

Be careful these are most definitely not the lead free brass Kaweco uses for their pens.
Hello! I did not have any context for this comment so I did a bit of a deep dive to see what the issues might be about.
So, for those without context, there is a small amount of lead in all brass (apparently, even so-called lead free brass has a very small amount) used to make it machinable. Of course, lead poisoning is a definite question wherever lead is involved. With the smaller amounts in brass (as opposed to just a big ‘ol chunk of lead) I did wonder if there was any chance of that.
I couldn’t find any information about raw brass in pens, but I did stumble upon this thread in a forum for trombone players:

Basically, I don’t believe there is high cause for alarm here, as long as you aren’t putting the pen in your mouth, and wash your hands before eating. I do think that it’s an important thing for people to be aware of, and to research for themselves. So, I’m pinning this comment. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
Mine from Temu came with nothing other than a converter and the plastic sleeve it was covered by. No damage to it as it shipped with a notebook and another pen. 3 weeks in and now using mine as a daily inker. Out of the box my feed needed to be readjusted but other than those issues mine has been great. Glad you found it enjoyable to make art with.
I had an AliExpress pen come like that. It survived. As long as it makes it safe, I guess I don’t mind how they pack it.
Great video!
These metal pens are irresistible and at the same time small and heavy for me.
I just tried the Hongdiam M2 mini, and I like it! It comes in colors, all of them nice IMO.
I love a good heavy pen myself. But I think if small pens are a problem for you, this one is a good choice. It’s pretty much a full-size brass pen. Lighter pens, I recommend you look into something aluminum. Definitely lighter than brass.
looks like a keeper
I’ll be bringing it out with me this week for sure. Feels like it could take the abuse of the 1,000 meetings I have to go to this week.
I love the mini fude nib of that thing. The writing experience for me is extra lovely as it's a wet nib! I'd leave the ink there for months, and it never dries up. No hard starts either!
My favorite thing about that nib is that it can be wet or dry, depending on the angle. A lot of variability with a good amount of control for that nib.
I have this pen and I also have the other one that is shorter but when posted it is perfectly sized. The smaller one has a mini fude nib in it and it is an absolut dream writing with it. I have a couple of other Delike mini fude pens and they never let me down.
I don’t know why, but when I bought my Muji pens I was not able to fit them with any regular international converter. I looked everywhere for one that would work and finally I found a Faber Castel converter that worked best. However, the Diamine cartridges fit perfectly in the Muji so I’m not sure what is up with my Muji pens. Great thing about using the cartridges is that you can store an extra one inside it.
Yeah, I have the same one as well. The mini Fude is a nice balance between the wide range of the Fude and the comfort of the standard nib. I’d like to see it on more pens.
@@stepheninks last night I was looking at my fountain pen collection and realized I need a storage system for this ever expanding collection. Maybe in one of your videos you can show us your entire collection and how to store it all.
@@clc3897 I do actually have a video where I show off my pen box. It’s the top 10 fountain pens for art (2022 edition), but I was thinking it might be time to revisit that topic. I think I might have some different pens at the top of my list now.
Looks to be a replica of the Kaweco Supra Pen.
I see where that comparison comes from. One thing this design has going for it (in my opinion) over the Supra is the lack of the silly little extension tube on the Supra. Why did Kaweco make their own both short and long? No one is gonna be changing it back and forth. Just pick one!
I think it is the heaviest pen I own... unfortunately, even too much to actually use it, even unposted I can't even write a full page, a bit sad cause I really like brass
Delike makes a smaller version of this pen also in brass. I showed it off in the middle of the video. That one might be more to your liking. I understand the Travelers Brass pen is also quite lightweight, but I don’t own one.
Thanks! I have seen your review about the tiny one in brass, but I think that's a completely different story and it's a pocket one, I already have a nice one made of aluminum and would prefer to avoid a too similar one, also since I don't reach that often for pocket pens@@stepheninks
Can we put kaweco supra clip to it ?
If I had a Supra to test it on, I would, but sadly I cannot say. If anyone out there knows, feel free to add a comment below!
