Khabib also met Darrell Horcher in the UFC at a catchweight of 160lbs
In an interview be said he chose this tactic in this fight of taking down and allowing opponent to get back up and taking down again because he (Khabib) had an injury which was preventing him from fighting his normal style.
And this record was set in a 3 round fight, imagine a 5 rounder.
If it was a 5 rounder, he wouldn't be fighting an opponent of that quality.

But level of competition does matter. Guys like Jon Jones and GSP faced way better competition, sure they faced more adversity than Khabib in some of their fights, but that's what happens when you clear out your era of contenders and fight new contenders who have been specially trained to counter your techniques over the years.
And ik people will immediately bring up GSP's losses and Jones' steroids. GSP lost to 36-4 Matt Hughes in his 8th fight, and then lost his belt in a fluke to Matt Serra in his 15th fight. Khabib was still fighting plumbers when he had that many fights. Jones had his steroid accusations, but he officially only popped in one fight (granted, it was his biggest fight, so I put him behind GSP but still ahead of Khabib), and during his rise when he looked unbeatable, there was hardly any drug testing, and most of his opponents were likely on something.
Khabib is great, one of the GOATs, but not in the top 3 imo. Maybe if he had more title defences, but having just 3 isn't enough.

I've been watching MMA for 15 years, and have really grown to love and appreciate good wrestling.
I have seen these takedowns/slams videos on streets, you know concrete surface etc. They are deadly. That octagon surface saves lives lol. With that very 1st slam, 00:31, Khabib would have killed the guy... Crazy that as much as wrestlers are already dominant in this sport, those takedowns inside the octagon means little in terms of damage, but the judges should really count them as major damage.
They’re basically fight Enders in the street I agree. It shouldn’t count the same as a single leg chain takedown or whatever. It should have more significance. That’s why we need a MMA judging set. Not boxings

I've been saying it for a long time, Khabib's grappling is better than his wrestling. Khabib has a background in Sambo, Judo in addition to Wrestling. All this despite being a White belt in BJJ.
