Your removal method for the headlight is the best!
Most people have to take off the entire front bumper...
Thank you for showing how to move the light housing by turning the dial 19 times. Absolute life saver. 👍
THANK YOU! We did it! We have light!
As a mom, I decided to mark the connections with a glitter sharpie and tape the nuts and bolts to the places they needed to be returned to... and I did remove the bumper... and you saved us a ton of money and made a wonderful learning experience for me and my teenager! Thanks!
Glad the video helped!
You sound like chris from family guy 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much! This helped me replace the ballast on my Toyota Estima. Like many others, i was facing defeat at trying to get the old ballast out of the housing, and your 19 turns advice got me past it! Brilliant!
Chances are...I'll never need to change the ballast on my daughter's Lexus...but this is a great video! I watched it all the way to the end!! Thanks for all the pointers along the way..especially the evil clip!
I thought the same thing... and here I am my daughter's Lexus need a ballast.
More common than you would think
@@larsbambi1575 they go out lol people that think they don’t well they either don’t know or don’t drive it as much
Great tutorial, thank you
excellent video bro thank you! still relevant in 2023 for 06 IS.
Awesome video. Followed everything you did and it was a huge help in replacing the ballast. Thanks for making it!
Awesome! Glad it helped!
Appreciate the video. I always check with others before I do stuff like this and you did it perfect the first time. Thanks!
Glad the video helped!
GREAT tutorial! Just used it to replace the mother in laws ballast on her 03 GS 300. Thanks!
didn't know that it wasn't necessary to remove the bumper. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for watching!
I have an IS200 and the mechanic refused to replace my bulb that's blown because its a HID he claims is illegal.. I told him to put in a legal one if it bothers him lol.
So I ave to di it on my own and I'm not very good at cars or manual labour. I'm like Jeremy Clarkson bahaha. this video at least gave me an idea what to expect.
was very detailed and helpful thanks
awesome! im actually in need of replacing my passenger side ballast. this will be useful
This video was exactly what I was looking for
Thanks for the upload!
+Bryan Hernandez Awesome! Glad it helped!
And didn't have to take the bumper off I hope this works on my GS300
Thanks so much for a very concise video. I have a new to me 2008 rx350. I am having issues with the driver side low beam HID. Light comes on but goes out in a few minutes. Toyota dealer suggests its the ballast. Estimates $1000 + to replace...yikes! I know I can probably do it myself with the help of videos like yours.
One question, do you disconnect negative terminal on the battery before disconnecting the light? I have read about serious voltage associated with the ballast. Thx so much!
Great video, sir! Just changed my ballast today and saved some serious cash. Thanks!
Awesome! Glad the video helped!
Great demo. Saved me a lot of labor. You da MAN.
This was such a pain in the ass. Thank you for the vid

Thx. All good. No comments :)
Thanks bro just wish u wouldve showed how u took it out but thanks great vid
Removing the leveling motor is faster than counting 19 revolutions. ;-)
Go Dawgs! Hey man. Watching this from Athens right now! Thanks for this awesome Video!
:) Glad it helped!
Awesome video. Helped a bunch. Thanks bro
Glad it helped!
Good luck doing this on an is250 adaptive headlight
Thank you very much, your video is very helpful for me.
Thank you so much. Very detailed info.
Glad it helped!!!
came here for 3:45
thanks alot
Awesome! Glad it helped!
Is it ok to just destroy the evil clip if you don't have a pry tool? I guess I could use a crow bar?
What happened if you don't turn it back the same amount of times will the head light be un even you said you turned it 19 times to get it through
Thanks for this video! Mechanic making me think this repair with parts would be over $1000! Do you know the Phillips bulb option to replace HID low beam bulb?
No video shows the other wire that’s connected to the balladt
Great DIY video on this. My only question; did you unhook the car battery?
Good job bro.👊
5/16" also works if you have no 8mm.
Great job... is it the same ballast for 2003 is300?
Thank you. It likely is but I’m not 100 percent sure.
It's the same for 2002-2005 for sure
I have 2014 Lexus is250 and I jus bought my blaster for driver side and it came wit builb n wire n blaster..So I changed it and still it’s working but the wires have power n when I move it couple time it came on n off.. So now it’s off..Can u help
Did you have to raise the car up by driving onto a ramp to get access to remove headlight housing?
No I did not.
@@Kongsumer Did the used Toyota ballast serve you well? I bought a used one as well, and a new Philips HID D2R bulb on eBay. Did not know if buying a used Toyota ballast or a new aftermarket one was better. But, both have to be better than $900 Toyota charges for a new one. I bought bulb for $20 on eBay, Lexus charges $69 for a Philip bulb. Thanks so much for your video and reply.
@@michaelgonzales9440 Hello! The ballast is still going strong! No issues! Thanks for watching and hope all goes well!
Hi I would also would want to know did your back lights turn off too?
Hello. No. Only the front light.
do you know if an aftermarket ballast will fit in the ballast housing area? I'm looking to upgrade my HID's and want to make sure there won't be any complications
how do i get rid of the ballast and upgrade to led?
Thanks for this video. Did you keep the IS300??
Best video ever helped a lot!!!!!!!
Glad it helped!
I'm about to do this job. replaced bulbs and they both work so I need this ballast. but what's confusing me is my fog lights also don't work. will changing the ballast fix that. I checked my fog light fuse and tested the relay on my horn and it worked so I'm kinda stuck on that
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure.
my ballast just went out. lexus quoted me $868.00 for a replacement
WOW!!!
There 80 bucks if you do it yourself and don't go to a stealer ship
Good job !
Wish my wife’s is250 headlamp was that easy to remove damn Lexus have to remove the face
so removing the bumper is not absolutely necessary?
No. I did not remove the bumper. Thanks for watching!
It was impossible for me to wiggle the headlight out of the car, until I loosen up the side of the bumper I was working on.
Will this work similarly to 06-11 lexus is250?
Did the headlight work? You didn't turn on the headlight. I replace mine but the headlight didn't turn on. I switch the lights to see f it works on to the passenger headlight and it works... but didn't work on the driver side....
I made sure the light worked around 8:03. If yours is not working, you may still have a ballast issue, a blown fuse, or something I'm unaware of.
Thank you
Would this ballast work on a 2001 Lexus is300?
It should as I didn't use the exact same one that came with my car, but please research to make sure. Thanks for watching!
I have the same question. Did it work for 2001 Lexus es300? I’m trying to save my dad $700 that he got quoted for fixing his headlight.
Thank you Based God 😂💘
So was it the ballast that was bad ? and what was it doing that you though it was the ballast ?
The light was not working. I switched the bulbs. The bulb worked on the other side.
Kongsumer - I have is 300 2001 , the mechanic told me that I need to changed the ballast . As they don’t come just that so I need to replace the whole headlight assembly which will cost tons of money . Does that make sense ? That I have to replace it with the whole assembly .
What did you end up doing? Trying to help my dad with Ballast replacement on his 2001 ES300. Mechanic quoted nearly $700.
Thanks for the tip on replacing the ballast! I have just replaced mine, but the headlight still won't start. it makes a buzzing/humming sound when I turn on, it flashes, then goes off. Appreciate anyone's tips on troubleshooting next. Thanks! Here is a video of the problem: czcams.com/video/s6zxIJB43sY/video.html
Mechanism doesnt work on these headlights; I turned it loose 55 times to clear the connector and and 45 times tight it was far beyond from where it was supposed to be!
hey man, dont know if you will reply to this, but i'm having issuses with my low beam, did all your light go off, or just you low beam, thanks.
Hey Anthony, I'm sorry but I don't remember if it was all the lights. I did do this to fix my low beam. Please be sure to swap the bulbs to make sure the ballast is the issue and to not touch the actual bulb with your fingers to keep it clean from dirt / oils.
@@Kongsumer thanks bro. I need to change my ballast is what I’m thinking but ima pull the headlights and swap ballasts to see if that’s the problem. Appreciate it.
@@anthonyshahbazian You're welcome! Just to be clear, I'd swap the bulbs first since that is a lot easier. If the bulb lights up on the other side, then you know the ballast is not working right.
@@Kongsumer hey bro, I did try this, even changed blown fuses, but no it’s not this so by process of elimination it’s either ballast or wiring issue, but i mean, I’m bored anyway lol
Nice but wish we could see it being taken out esp that clip... :/
Do you still on this vehicle
Wait how the fuck did he take out the headlight without taking off the bumper
