  • Hello, fellow DIYer! If you’ve been following our previous guide on how to build a DIY garden shed, this one might also interest you.
Here, we are addressing a modern problem with a modern solution: Package theft. With the increased parcel drop-offs in recent years (thanks, coronavirus!), package protection became an important matter to many.
While installing CCTV in your front porch might serve as a deterrent for package thieves, the endless stream of videos online showing pesky intruders defiling a secure parcel suggests we might need something stronger.
That’s where our drop-off box steps in. Serving as mail storage, this handy delivery storage also serves as a nifty organizer for your package too.
As always, we’re going to require some tools and equipment, along with materials to make this secure package container come to fruition. You can find a list of our recommended equipment and materials in the link given below, along with an in-depth explanation of each step.
This project will surely serve as a handy exercise of your DIY and crafting skills, so be sure to scroll above and catch the action!

Out of curiosity, what was the price of the materials?

A nice idea…until somebody cuts the string under the lid and can then access every single package.

Yep, either that or some Porch Pirates taking a 10 or 12 pound splitting maul to all of that hard work and fine craftsmanship just because they decided that they needed your paid for delivered packages more than you did!
An all welded metal (10 or 12 gauge) enclosure with foundation eliminates the amateur two-legged rodents.
Security is just a question of: How much coin will one be willing to cough up for the peace of mind?

This is not something the vast majority of people will be able to do. We don't have the carpentry skills nor the power tools to do this project.
