I was hoping you’d include the Iron Man record on here. Jeff Gordon had 797 consecutive starts, from Atlanta in November of 1992 to Homestead in November of 2015. That’s every race for 23 years in a row - no injuries, no illnesses, no suspensions, no DNQ’s, no sponsor issues.
That being said, I understand why you didn’t include it, as Harvick may pass Jeff if he races til 2024 without missing a race. Right now (3/27/2021) he’s at 682 starts.

Jeff Gordon's twenty-three straight seasons winning at least one pole will be super tough, if not impossible to break. A very underrated achievement.
Especially since there’s hardly any qualifying now and almost all drivers lost any streak they had.
I think Jeff Gordon holds the Iron Man record too. I don't know how hard it is to beat though.
@@thejman3489 Harvick is approaching 700, so he's got like 3-4 more years of racing to catch him.

Here's a weird one
Ned Jarrett crashed his car in 3 different races in 5 days in 1964 and still won 2 of them, getting runner up in the other event
How did he manage that?
14 laps is a 24hrs of Le Mans type of victory margin.

NASCAR fans: I wish we could go back vintage racing when it was good
Denny Hamlin: *wins by 15 laps*
NASCAR fans: This race sucked, change the package and bulldoze the track
I know, everyone always wants old nascar when they forget that old nascar only had 1 car on the lead lap. Meanwhile, fans get upset when the leader gets more than 2 seconds ahead of second place
Too true! 🤣
@@dylanbrod429 those fans are dumb as hell
I'd just be mad about Denny winning, not the winning margin lol
The old days were better in some regards, but NASCAR fans paint stuff in broad strokes. I can think of some modern bangers, and some classic snoozefests. But when most people debate NASCAR rules packages and track layouts, there is no nuance.
The Petty Pearson rivalry was just off the charts...because the two of them raced each other pretty clean and had a lot of respect for each other. Petty once said if he was Following Pearson, and Pearson cut down into the infield and by the hotdog stand, he would follow because he would trust Pearson had a good reason to go there. That is faith
Mark Little The 2 best that ever that competed in nascar. Man I wish I could go back to them days.
Jimmy Ingram had a 28 year gap between his second race (1952) and his third and final race (1980) - that record will never be broken.
9:24 I would kill to see an exhibition race at Road America , the Daytona Road Course, etc. where we could have a multi-class NASCAR race. It’d be super unique with Cup cars weaving through Truck traffic, and having 50+ vehicles on a reasonably large track to space things out.
Speaking of multiclass racing, has the IMSA ladder been a favorite of yours? I find it to be consistently competitive, and can make for a fantastic viewing experience for both TV and onsite viewers.
I want to see NASCARs and Indycars go at it on the Indy 500, if a NASCAR can win, the driver will get three million dollars, it would either be a wreck fest, or the greatest spectacle in motorsports period
A logistical nightmare, but epic if pulled off. And as to the reply suggesting mixed full body and open wheel cars, *hell no* on safety grounds.
@@SamnissArandeen Come on! It would be fun as hell! Fuck safety!
@@tyleracimovic823 he has a point
Seeing 114 cars on a track at once would be spectacular. An exhibition on the Daytona RC or maybe one of the bigger tracks like Pocono or Indianapolis would be super cool to see. One can only dream…
1:31 I don’t think anyone would want to beat that record lol
Anyone who drives for Rick Ware has a shot at it.
@@BiffGreggle lol
@@BiffGreggle HA!
@@BiffGreggle this team shall beat that record
Can I just on behalf of everyone of your subscribers say thank you for putting these videos together, it's so fun trivia for someone from a country where Nascar basically never existed and "they just turn left, no skill required!" is the norm... I appreciate you man!
Amen to that
The thing you never knew you wanted: Multi-class nascar races.
the only way it would work is if they head to a very long track that can hold that many cars, Talladega is too fast and too small, i don't think there is a 11 mile long track in ameirca at all. they would have to exhibition in mans with the 24hours of le mans configuration, or the nuerburgring.
@@TheObsesedAnimeFreaks you could just drop it to ~20 cars per class. That would fit at talladega. Maybe smaller field at some of the cookie cutter tracks.
@@generalwaste2062 that defeats the purpose of the whole "80cars on the field" that the idea came from. also having alike a 120 car field actually sounds pretty cool. also i like the idea of shutting down i285 in atlanta and racing around that....
I want to see Indy car and NASCAR go at it at the Indy 500
@@Ob1tuber I myself would like to have seen NASCAR cup cars do battle against GT cars on an oval again (barring plate tracks). But the possibility of that happening in this day and age is impossible.
If you're wondering what I'm talking about, search up the 1963 American Challenge Cup.
I am literally watching the Mark Martin series right now and was like man when’s this guy gonna make a new video
Almost at 100k man, that's amazing! Proud to have been here since ~800 (not thousand, literally 800)
7 consecutive wins at one track (Darrell Waltrip in the early 80s at Bristol)
I love the idea of all 3 series on the track at the same time!
Another record that’ll never be broken: Doug Richert was 19 when he became Dale Earnhardt’s crew chief, & 20 when Earnhardt won the 1980 Winston Cup championship. (Richert turned 20 during the 1980 season.)
heres one
Brian Vickers having the lowest amount of points to finish a season, at -50 in 2013.
he didnt compete for points, but because he was involved in spingate, he got docked 50 points, meaning he ended the season at -50
That’s crazy considering that was a year he won a race.
Nascar fun fact:
As of today, the last race at the 2 mile configuration of Auto Club Speedway in Fontana Ca, Kyle Busch just set the record for most consecutive seasons with at least one win at 19. Surpassing Richard Petty.
Very cool
8:44 82 cars may seem like a lot, but the actual record for most starters in a NASCAR race was in Daytona Beach in 1953. It was a Modified-Sportsman race and the race had 136 cars (no, I'm not lying)
Holy crap
I highly recommend Brock Beard's book on J.D. McDuffie:
J.D.: The Life and Death of a Forgotten NASCAR Legend
It is an amazing book and well worth the purchase price.
Brock Beard is like the Ken Burns of NASCAR.
Mark Martin 2nd place finishes in the championship
Jeff Gordon’s consecutive poles record at 23 seasons
Jimmie Johnson record 11 wins at Dover
Jeff Gordon 4 straight Southern 500 wins
Jimmie Johnson 3 straight Coke 600 wins
Kevin Harvick Last Lap Passes For the Win
Appropriately, Mark Martin finishes 2nd in the number of times finishing 2nd. The record holder is actually Richard Petty, who finished 2nd in the points 6 times.
As for the 3 straight Coke 600/4 straight Southern 500 wins, I don't think those are unbeatable. Darrell Waltrip nearly had 3 straight 600s, winning in 78-79 and finishing 2nd in 1980.
@@zlinedavid No one else has won 3 straight Southern 500s so that should tell you how hard that race is and Jimmie Johnson is still the last driver to win 2 straight Coke 600s. They are the 2 hardest races to win. 367 laps and 400 laps.
200 subs away from 100k as I write this out. You deserve every one of them. You were part of the reason I began watching nascar again.
I haven't watched a full NASCAR race since the 2001 Daytona 500 but for some reason your video on Air Base came up on my recommended and I've been binge watching ever since. Excellent content sir.
I normally don't have this morning off....this was MUCH better way to spend my morning drinking coffee and seeing this pop up 1 min after you post it :D EXCELLENT video.
Thanks for making these Slap. I always learn something new in these even though I consider myself pretty well learned in NASCAR history.
Yesssss! Finally we get another Absolute banger from S1ap
The only way #1 gets beaten is if almost every car in the field DNFs and Quin Houff has to head to head against someone like Kyle Larson or Denny Hamlin
Congrats on 100K! your channel is the reason a youngster like me got back into NASCAR
Hell yeah mate i bloody love your uploads
Thank you for a great video. Most of those records I did not know about.

CONGRATS ON 100K!
Yessir time for a S1ap video!
Congrats on 100k!
Nice to see the notification of a new video
congrats on 100K!
Another good one would be Richard Petty's record for wins at the most unique tracks (54), owing to the length and timing of his career. Since the list of tracks NASCAR visits nowadays is fairly stable, the most unique tracks the very best drivers could hope to win at today would be around 30 at best. The most of any active driver is Kyle Busch with 23.
CONGRATS ON 100K
Seeing a slapshoes video in my subscription feed, makes for a great day.
Congratulations on 100k
In reality you deserve 100,000,000 subs
I can't wait for part 3 where its nothing but obscure Richard Petty records.
Earnhardt and Daytona always hits you in the feels
Jeff Gordon had 23 straight years with at least 1 pole. Every full season he raced. With hardly any qualifying now most drivers have lost their streaks.
Closing in on 100K, S1ap!
hey slap once again my man antoher great video as usual you have done one on nascar's worst race and F1'S worst race can you do one on indy cars worst race
Nice You Got to 100k!
I really would love it if Nascar would use actual car bodies and engine like they used to. It would be fun to see Ford Chevy Dodge and Toyota (i guess) actually try to out do each other. Car design and power from the actual engines to that car would be far more exciting then everyone basically running the exact same car/ engine
Dale Earnhardt: "Can't get caught in a big crash if you are at the front."
Sorry Dale but the 2021 Daytona 500 would beg to differ
And now 2024
Now that you pitched the idea about multiclass racing with all the top 3 series on the track simultaneously... that does sound cool af...
Ned Jarrett also won a couple short track races that year by 22 laps, so he holds the record whether you go by number of laps or number of miles, although his Southern 500 win does mark the mile record. The reason for that is obviously because Chrysler boycotted most of the 1965 season so Petty and Pearson weren't racing, and for the most part all the races were decided by Jarrett, Junior Johnson, and Dick Hutcherson, although some other Ford drivers like Fred Lorenzen also entered and won the higher-profile events. So if Johnson and Hutcherson drop out of the race, it can lead to some big margins. I think Jarrett retired for safety reasons and not because he had nothing to prove. Billy Wade, Joe Weatherly, Fireball Roberts, and Jimmy Pardue had all died in a one year time span and NASCAR outlawed Chrysler's Hemi engine ostensibly for safety reasons, which led to the Chrysler boycott. Jarrett had also extricated Roberts from his burning car in a failed attempt to save his life and that must have badly shaken him. I'm pretty sure that's why he retired (and also why Hutcherson, Lorenzen, Johnson, and Rex White all retired in a one to two year time span, which was a major contributor to Petty and Pearson's domination as they were for a while almost the only major stars left.) At that point, I don't think anybody had broadcasting in mind.
S1ap is back. It’s a good day
Nice, more slapshoes! Though it seems you talked alot faster than usual
"Fans wanted pack racing back..."
No, the fans wanted the Big Ones. The tandem racing with the radio communications were great to watch. It was the closest NASCAR has been to the old school racing at the superspeedways since the plates were introduced.
Video idea:
NASCAR finishes that will never happen again
2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400
I'd like to see one video done on the unbeatable records of NASCAR's Regional and Touring divisions... It'd be nice to hear about things like Richie Evans 8 Modified championships in a row (9 total). The single all-time one division record in ALL of NASCAR. How Stefanik got 9, but across two divisions. The Modifieds, and Busch North... There's some absolutely STAGGERING numbers out there.
THE KING IS BACK!
I actually want to see an exhibition race where all 3 series share the track
Still loving your style of videos 🔥🤘 I am a fan sir!
14 LAP MARGIN OF VICTORY? What did he have under him, a P51 Mustang?
Every car in the race had some sort of mechanical failure that day.

slap you really need to upload more i love your vids
Huge gratz to you for 100K subs! I am probably a minority here being a non-american who has never watched any motorsport but i just find your videos to damn interesting despite that, here's too 100000 more! 🍻
That 1965 southern 500 had the cale yarborough flip over the wall bte
Legend goes, Gentleman Ned cut his engine in and out just to entertain the fans.
I was at King Richard's last race as a 5 yr old in 92 at atlanta. Still remember meeting him. I couldn't talk I was so awestruck. Lol. My grandparents were at the first Daytona 500 so it's in our blood. Hope we get back to Nashville Fairgrounds and not the speedway crap.
Petty was the John Wayne of his sport. I watched him from 1964 to when he retired. Proud to call him my hero
Another record that’ll probably never be broken is Martin Truex Jr. leading 392 out of 400 laps in the 2016 Coca Cola 600
