- Target viewing with the EP5 at 550y, 1000y and 1 mile.
In this video i focus the Arken Optics EP5 out to one full mile and let the user view the target from a stationary setting. Users are prompted to consider the nature of filming through a scope and presented barriers of cameras. Users are encouraged to view through an actual scope and adjust all focus controls to the individual eye. EP5 Optic is given a great view for clear glass and accurate tracking.

What some people don't understand is that this is a budget scope that performs .. it not better than a 3000+ scope no .. but every one that could be interested in shooting can't afford a 3000+-scope n is ridiculous to push people to buy something that is not needed to enjoy the sport...6 years ago you could only buy a good UTG ..for that money..n now $550 could buy you this..is a great step forward on optics..
Thanks for the thorough review. Really appreciate the reference photos at the end!! Just bough two of them.
Bow are you liking them?
Excellent video. Simple, short and concise yet very informative. Nice!!!
your welcome
So far I'm REALLY enjoying this optic. Can't wait to get it out on the range. Thank you for the videos. Enjoying your content.
Your welcome.
How long did it take you to get your scope
@@timesque9790 I ordered mine very early on. With that being said maybe a couple of weeks. It was pretty quick.
@@MrSlickback2 Yeah ordered mine and it said 4 to 6 weeks ,,,,,thanks
@Rugergundog what’s the sleeve on the scope man?
Great Great Great video ! Very very helpful . Thank You
Your welcome
Thanks for the review. In strict terms of optical quality, I can be confident taking shots at those distances with something with a far lesser quality. But what is most important is the tracking and accuracy of the turret adjustments and accuracy of the reticle. This scope is very clear at this cost. I would just need it to track as it should.
From other reviews and tests, optic clarity is good for the price but isn’t up to $3000 scope quality, however turret tracking is said to be excellent. I don’t have personal experience with this one, but should soon (ordered one)
A lot comed into play with dollar amounts pop up in the discussion. Lots of emotional attachment on investments. I won't go out and say an ep5 is clearer than scope value at $1000, 2000, 3000....however I will say is as clear. Multiple trips to range with high end Optics selling $3000 or more with arken covered every ower...100% literally said was as clear. I stopped even sharing the interviews and content as was accussed of fabricating it. Get an ep5 and properly set it up and it's all you would ever need.
Thank you for performing this test. I am considering this rifle scope for a 28 Nosler ELR build. The two most important features are that it must have is the ability to hold zero over higher recoil and it has to have an accurate high internal adjustment. Nice glasses nice but it is not critical. Also I was hoping for a thinner crosshair and this reticle is rather busy. I wish it were offered in SFP. I'm still considering it and if I buy it and it can't hold zero, it's going back.
Sightron SIII 6-24x50 SFP starting from $600 with 90-100moa of elevation travel and weighs under 25oz and best of all it's made in Japan not China.
Did you get one?
I couldn't believe how massive these scopes are. I just bought two of them and compared to my vortex viper this thing is huge. Can't wait to go shooting with it. My only complaint is the eye box. It's exactly 3.4 inches no less no more.
That box should change a smidgen with your magnification setting. As you spend more time behind it and your cheek weld spot becomes second nature the eye box issues will pretty much vanish.
Thanks for the vid
Very nice review.
Thank you.
Recently noticed, that if you have a day where the mirage is mild it will help. On a day with lots of mirage it almost won’t matter how well your glass is when it come to fine detail
Thanks for chiming in.
Great video about an awesome scope!
Thank you
I just ordered the EP5 few hours ago. I wont be doing anything long distance shooting with it. I will be using it (along with my few other Arken scopes) on my PCP air rifles. For the money, I think Arken hits it out of the ball park on the first pitch!! Although I hope they'd come out with the EP5 in 50mm objective.
Me too, I hope you found rings, I went with tier one mediums for my hw100k, I leave mine set at 10x and the clarity is superb out to 100 meters which is as far as I shoot pellets, at least until I get something like an impact m3, maybe next year.
awesome.
Thanks for doing this. You make have already but can you talk about the illumination? From what I've heard and seen its illumination sucks.
Well...good point. I personally rarely use it. The set up with an off position between each level is great. The levels are fine. It does only light center area..so really only of use if using turrets not hold overs. I personally think for what it is...its fine. Ive polled a good many people...more rare to find people who actually use it.
@@RugerGundog yeah I rarely ever use it either but the complaints I've heard was it's blurry.
@@toddparsons2980 ...on extreme bright i could see that yes
What kind of scope sleeve is that on the bell? and what is it for? Thanks
Scope chap. Provides abrasive protection
Ive followed dozens of these reviews on the Arken....99% of them very positive with hundreds if not thousands of happy owners enjoying and being very happy with the quality of these scopes using them for their intended uses and ranges out to 1000yds. What I've noticed is that in every review in the comments section ive noticed the same people calling the scopes down....to me it seems they're nothing more than equipment snobs who absolutely hate the fact that other shooters are enjoying their various shooting disciplines using a model of scope that fits their budget and enables their owners to participate in the same same disciplines that the haters do using their scopes costing 2/3 thousand dollars more! 😂
Partially correct, although at a thousand meters this Arken is a challenge compared to the gen3, etc.
You nailed it
I disagree. Used both out to a mile...literally equal view.
Where did you get the scope wrap?
Scope chaps
Thanks. Place to purchase them?
Did you have any issues with the parallax at the long range distances? Many others complained they had issues with the parallax with this scope.
Not really, at very far distances i mean all aspects of any optic get a bit touchy
@@RugerGundog Thanks. I’m strongly considering replacing my Vortex Viper 4x16x44 HST SFP with an Arken EP5. I just need an EGW 20 MOA rail and I should be good to go!
@@senster7717 just got this scope and i would make the switch . Every scope at range has diminished parallax .for $550 im buying more for all my rifles . The only difference in this and a high end scope is the glass and that only matters to a point.
@@dashero11 thanks much appreciated
What's the name of that sleeve you got on your scope and where can I get it?

What scope cover is that on the EP5?
Scope Chap. Check em out!
@@RugerGundog Thank you. Will do.
how can I buy arken ep 5 5-25 ffp in mrad if I am in Russia
Likely no. Prob need a middle man of sorts.
You use mil or moa?
I use MIL
Ha found you lol good video
Must of run into you someplace. Range?
Yep
Totally
Ok so bob, twist the turrets to the upper and lower ends of travel and tell us about the quality of the view vs the sh4, you will be surprised, make sure you go alittle left and right wen near ends of travel
I will need to take it out to test that out and see what comes up. What are you finding?
Sorry bout time lapse, on mine image gets very distorted just not clear, turned up 10 mils, then 15 mils is the same just not clear, not sure if it's my scope or what, none of my sh4 do it
I have a vortex viper pst gen1 and this sucker looks way better.
Damn right it does!
No more than 500!
A few of us take them out to 1,000 on the regular.
cant watch 7 minutes talking about cameras?
See ya.
Arken Scopes is good enough for some .22lr Rifles, not for serious stuff. Optical not good enough for longer range that’s past 600.. the high magnification only good until 20 power, on 25 you loose too much clarity.. they should have made 5-20 rather with better glass.
good Scope for the price tag, honestly I will rather save up and buy something double or three times the price and be satisfied..
That is an interesting perspective. Though does not line well with the dozens of us using them at 1000y..some beyond. Best of luck.
@@RugerGundog you can use open sites @ 1000 yards also if you want.. We learn the tools we have, and use them..
For the the guy who’s shooting every other weekend/ month the Arken will do just fine..
If you want to compete, you will struggle to spot your impacts/ and bullet trace.. optical clarity is key…
@@kamikazehunter
I wont claim the Arken glass is best out there..but wont claim the gap between a few of well known brands upper stuff is as wide as some may be lead to believe.
Myself and others find the ep5 glass suitable to observe vapor trail as well as impacts on steel at 1000y. Now...may another optic do the same with a bit more detail of the strike on the steel?..sure maybe. But my point with much of this is the usability of the ep5 is there. I dont discredit having very nice things and even those that the difference is minimal despite the cost jump...however for a lot of shooters im pretty confident saying the ep5 over some the other scopes would not impact the shooters ability for better or for worst.
@@RugerGundog Valid point, I do agree on your statement. I’m sure there’s many shooters who will find the quality in the product that they seek for the affordability. Happy impacts, and keep up the good work..
@@RugerGundog Mic drop and slowly walks off! Thanks for sticking up for the majority while as always........ the all knowing minority screams loudly!
