    It makes sense that it’s Amorim. The board already knew he was coming from the “secret meeting” a couple months ago. The way Poch was let go so quickly and quietly tells me they already had someone lined up. I honestly think they would’ve kept Poch had they not already decided the next manager.
    Also, the board stated they’ll be announcing the new manager next week, which would also make sense because Sporting have the Portuguese Cup final on Sunday.

    • @dereksavastano
      @dereksavastano Před 23 dny +2

      Except it doesn’t, Amorim has an €18m release clause. We are out of the running, i think the mystery coach is likely Xavi from Barcelona. We all knew they were going to fire him by the time the “mystery manager” thing came out. And he fits the bill to a T, and I don’t get how people are suggesting it’s Mourinho either. A “young and progressive manager”, but 60 year old Jose with Defensive Minded tactics surely fits the billing.

    • @dereksavastano
      @dereksavastano Před 23 dny +1

      The big key for this deal brother, is that our board want to pay as little as possible for the switch. McKenna’s release clause is £4m, Maresca’s is ~£11m. I personally prefer Maresca, but I’d take either at this point. Amorim would also probably want some control in the transfer market, and that’s not what we do over here.

Pochettino as a coach/manager has been a failure and been considered for a long time a weak manager especially during his time at PSG given the world class players at his disposal such as Neymat Mbappe Messi Di Maria etc.

    Was it worth selling Gallagher to sign him? Another "next best thing" coming to Chelsea. Sounds familiar. How many more next best things do we want? You didn't say any of the signings in the last two years were a waste of money when we bought them.

      How that success will be achieved is within the expertise of the professional - the coach, an expertise which the money guys lack.

    I am afraid that McKenna and Maresca will lack the stature in the dressing room to handle any downturns in results (see Graham Potter). I think De Zerbi is the better choice over these two. No thoughts on Ruben Amorim Villas Boas.

    I'm beginning to have faith in Poch... Suddenly he left! The lads look like they are getting better and better in each match. And in all foolishness I believed Poch will stay for another 1 or 2 seasons before letting the team to a more experienced manager. But it is not. 1 season is not 'long term'. Let us hope for the best for the new manager. I love Chelsea. And it is devastating to see it crumbling to uncertainty. Set the target straight and put everything into it. Not half way.
