The times and styles might have changed but much of this is still valid.
Many thanks for making this film available again to an ageing but still active motorcyclist. The Liverpool scenes turned back the clock to my youth and I'm 17 again. The shots of tramlines and granite sets reminded me of the perilous double figure of eight route around the 'Three Graces' for the motorcycle test., far different to todays test for road users. I was also a customer of Horseman's and as an apprentice worked with the brother of Ken Morris who I also knew. Happy days!
Brilliant! What a great time to of ridden a bike unlike today with the roads rammed with nob heads
I love how they keep referring to good manners and being respectful. More riders of today need to get that message
Very cool old video..
+Scott Wilson Cheers Buddy, yes, I love the mention of the fellowship, all bikers are kind and considerate!

Wow, common sense most if it, ace video & empty roads. Heaven!
Still an excellent education in good, safe and considerate motorcycling. My son is about to take to the roads for the first time and I'm sending hi the link. Thanks!
A lot of that was shot on the Wirral. I recognised West Kirby, Parkgate and Heswall. It hasn't changed much in 65 years.
Who spotted the mayor's Rolls-Royce outside Liverpool town hall?
Great vid MrB, a lot of that advice is still relivant today. Thanks for showing. RSM8-RI

frightening to think how few vehicles were on the roads! Remember my nan and granddad, even my parents saying how roads have got ridiculously busy! as for motorcycle clothes!!! Don't see me complaining in that department haha!
+TheBigD Yeah the clothes back then! - Rush hour these days is just gridlock! Mental!
RSMF-*RI*
Mr B
'A fine reputation for courtesy and consideration' is a term you don't hear these days.
+wyvernbiker Yeah it needs bringing back!
RSMF-*RI*
Mr B
Just watched both films. not many changes but wheres the hand signal gone, Thinking about it a bit hard to show your slowing down before you take hand off the accelerator.
+bighorse10048 Love the film - I guess indicators and brake lights took over!
RSMF-*RI*
Mr B
Love it just like the time was a boy lol rsm
+Suffolk Andy Brilliant! Hehe, those BSA's! :oD
RSMF-*RI*
Mr B
If only crashes wee really like that. Just brush yourself down and get back on. Even for staged crashes they are pretty scary mind you. Especially the sidecar ones.
The most amazing thing for me is the lack of traffic.
+CalmBiker Yeah everyone rubbing their knees! Wonder if that's why sliders were invented :) I really like this film, biker safety like a Boss!
RSMF-*RI*
Mr B
I like the part about the "other fellow" they'd never teach that these days. Oh wait. They're manners. And they don't teach those either lol
+brokenlegz So true, so true Bro! - I do hate bad manners!
RSMF-*RI*
Mr B
There was no mention about drivers using mobile telephone communication devices..
+Rhin0Neil You would need a big cable drum back in the day! ;)
RSMF-*RI*
Mr B
+Mr B's Brain Dump A motorcyclist could be decapitated by one of those things. Put the phone down. And plese do not Telex while driving.
Great video, thanks for the upload.
Mr B's Brain Dump or to release grip on the handlebars to tap some Morse code via crate-ish big tube set on the pillon. At least you can carry a separate wireless operator with sidecar :-D
Traffic much slower moving then, and quite anarchic by today's regularised standards, less division of opposing traffic and fixation with painting lanes. I wonder what drivers then would have thought of our "corkscrew" roundabout lanes...
As for a child running out to fetch its ball... Children being free to do anything?
