My real name is Michael McCluskey. I live in Canton, Ohio here in the United States. I'm also a model railroader. I like to build things from scratch. I did build a coal tipple over two tracks. I also used brass tubing to make operating doors to load hopper cars with real coal. Actually the coal I use came from a coal fired electric generating power company! I just subscribed to your channel as you do build your own things.

Thank you for this video, as an ex BR signalman it's nice to see modellers taking this subject more seriously, even Hornby magazine should take note, I'm sorry but I must ask ''' why have you got a GWR signalbox''?.

Very impressive I too tackled something similar last year although I also lit the bottom and since the era of the 70/ 80s that I’m modelling moved to electric signals so the mechanics of the signal room beneath were removed and the towns local mode railway club moving so I made a mini mode railway layout in the actual signal box you can see 1:5660 scale or something had to be. Great kicks and giggles and really made or a nice little scene the entire layout is ticking nicely we are at 75% landscaping complete with some of the best yet to come and some cracking videos to come by the end of the year. Maybe you might take a peep my cricket, radio control club, forest, coastal, disused sections are some of my faves but they are all good. And thanks again for all your help in my biggest regret video I don’t think I could have done it without your help as seen in PT II of that ones. My signal gantries went up in the last one and that was some 3 years in the making and they are. WOWSERS. pt 2 this week. I thought I might post a comment in this video since it’s not yielding the hundreds of comments as seen in others and maybe there is a chance I may actually hear from you but I know you run active lifestyle and represent many organizations communities and a hectic celebrity social profile so I know it must be hard trying to get back to everyone but just know that people like me who have been through some truly life changing challenges will always appreciate the beautiful art and personality you deliver in every magical presentation. Stay safe & happy.

I did the same on a card model of a GWR box back in the day. No Ratio kit available then, but I used a cut up hair comb for the levers and an old round plug prong for the stove. I had a signalant sitting in his chair reading a newspaper and a clock on the back wall. I still have it. Filament 12v bulb in the roof. Still looks good today and just waiting for a new layout ! I can’t remember the brand of the card kit though. A lighted signalbox really adds something to a layout. 👍 You need a signalman though!

Lovely job Jen and and a great enhancement. May I suggest that in some layout buildings such as these that one of your three lights could be wired to be always 'on' to have a subtle daylight effect inside the box. (A fourth bright white globe, that is always 'on' and 'off' when the other three are 'on' is another way of achieving a subtle daylight effect.) Daylight effect globes are a good filming enhancement.

I was actually typing that you should if done a Matt black base coat then used white over the top ... And then you actually went and did it?🤣
Really nice results there Jen, it's all very well spending large sums of money on Locomotives and stock..but sometimes, you just need to sit back and paint some models!☺️❤️

Nice. I did the same on my Melbourne Military Railway, except I went for a flickering fire effect for the lighting. The stove was too small to get the lights in it, so I placed them behind and to the side by the levers. From below or the same height it looks great but it gives it away if you look down into the box.

A great job - interior and lighting always improves a building.
Another way of stopping light-bleed is to line the building with normal baco-foil. It is easily stuck to walls and roof with PVA. It can then be painted with whatever colour required.

Very pleasing effects. Those resin buildings are otherwise lacking on the inside. Yes, Humbrol matt often isn't exactly what it says on the tin!

Jeenifer, thanks for the video. It's not that difficult (?) to do detailing when someone else shows you how. I have used mini LED festoon lights for internal lighting. Ariceleo Mini Fairy Lights Battery Operate, 1 Pack Copper Wire Night Lights 3*AAA Battery Powered Led Starry Fairy String Lights for Bedroom, Christmas, Party, Wedding, Decoration(5m/16ft Warm White) from Amazon. Using the number I need. They are wired in parallel so can be cut as required. The enamel on the wires needs scraping of to solder wires and a resistor (1kohm for 3/4 LEDs on a 12V supply.

Humbrol paint is really bad for Matt colours drying gloss. I have a Bachmann resin signal box and wnat to detail it up and add lighting as well, would you know if it is easy to drill a hole in resin without doing and damage?

weren’t too impressed earlier with the people working at rails of Sheffield so anyways some guy popped into rails of Sheffield n asked for for some n gauge track n Rails of Sheffield staff said they’d literally ran out of n gauge track so anyways i had my iPad on me so looked online n seen online Rails of Sheffield had plenty of n gauge track Instock, he also asked Rails of Sheffield staff what loco would they suggest n they had no answer so I obviously had to mention cross country voyager looks well on a n gauge layout n also a virgin voyager looks good.....the guy was literally speechless as he’d asked Rails of Sheffield staff n not me lol n still no reply from Rails of Sheffield staff....madness so obviously i had stuff to do so left

Very nice. Thank you. One plea: modelling is always less than 1:1 scale, so models are very much smaller than the real thing. Can we agree wherever possible to abandon the word "little" which appears in almost every modeller's video several times a sentence?
