  • Kubota BX2380 is very strong subcompact tractor for its size with impressive torque coming out of the 23HP diesel engine. But does it have what it takes to Rip packed ground rock drive up hill ? Lets find out as I make the repairs needed and as I go over this little power house of a tractor.

Great video sir. When I was a kid my dad bought some land and built a home on it. The soil is sand. Dad would go around the county after either the State or County did any resurfacing on the roads and sweep up the loose gravel (with permission lol) load it in the back of the truck and dump it in the driveway. After about 10 years of doing this he had a bulletproof driveway lol. If I remember right there is gravel rocks and bricks in the driveway lol. Have an outstanding day. 👍👍😎👍👍

I used an extra tire valve stem, removed the core and just use cap to keep closed lol. Before that I had used that blue painters tape with small hole drilled in can. Kept a roll of it in truck replace tape every fill up. I’m Frugal LOL
Glad to see you use your government approved fuel can as recommended lmao
Nice job on driveway btw. I put up an electric gate, stopped the unwanted guests.

Awesome video man. It’s funny in my most recent video I was just talking about the “EZ-Pour” spouts as well! I have the same can as you too works great. You should have drilled the 1/2” hole tho and installed the vent so it could breath that’s why it was taking so long but I’m sure you prolly know that.

Nice tractor bud. Glad ya liking it. In trouble spots, what we did was driveway fabric or heavy landscape fabric, then lay down the gravel. It will stop, or greatly reduce, the ground swallowing the gravel. The fabric will allow water to still drain out.
Either that or keep packing that area with gravel until it just can't swallow anymore.

@@SunnySlopeHomestead Hey Mike, i`m looking forward to alot more of your BX videos. You`re one of the only BX owners thats actually making videos that i want to see. Most others are the same crap and always so generic. I just modified our BX to be able to use our old JD420 52" snow blade on it. That saved me a ton of money from having to buy the whole setup from Kubota. And i was also told it wouldn`t be possible to do it either, everybody laughed at me, but they aren`t laughing now, after seeing it on there and working awesome. I even have the power angle hooked up and working. I did buy Kubota`s 4 valve hydraulic manifold assembly so that i could make hooking the blade up so much easier. I`ve got around $500 total in the mod job. And i see you do some BBQ`ing and smoking meats as well... NICE!!!!! So do i. I bbq and smoke all summer long... its what i live for... besides running the BX too....lol. Anyway, nice chattin with ya man.

@@SunnySlopeHomestead Mike, just a heads up... whenever your changing/hooking up your hydraulic hoses, shut the tractor off, wobble the hell out of the joy stick to relieve the hydraulic pressure from your fittings. Also push the joy stick fully forward into the float position. Then your hoses will pop right on super easy when they aren`t under any hydraulic pressure.

I always do my drive the day before it rains , u want to stay off it until the rain rinses it. The mix u have there has road pack mix and it will pack like that if u don’t let the rain rinse it.also if u tilt your scraper box to the right when ur coming down that hill u will force the water to stay off the road. Then when your turned around u will slant the road off to the side u will keep ur road from washing out. Also I bought my 2380 back in 2017 and my right rear axles seal started to leak today .

I have never seen that happen before so I took measures to make sure that don’t happen again. I used JB weld gasket maker and sealer and holds up against oils, hydraulic fluid, trans fluids and tempts of 500 degrees. So I’m sure it won’t happen to that seal again.

Funny you mention the ROPS bar. The place I want to park my tractor when I get it, has about 6-1/2 feet of clearance, and the ROPS bar on the BX2680 is about 7 feet...I'll definitely have to remember to fold the bar down and duck LOL. Though I got to thinking when I rebuild the front of the lean-to on my shop it'll be completely open on the front and I can park my riding mower, snow blower, and that type of stuff in there and park my new tractor in the other shed that has 16 feet of headroom LOL.
AHH The AMC Eagle, the first crossover. AMC had no idea what they created at the time. The mail carriers in my area used to drive those Eagles for their mail routes due to their capability in snow/ice.

I don't know what your original rock lay-down was (you said you haven't touch it in three years) but I had someone tell me that you never use river rock for short or extended length fill. It is best to use #8 Lime stone which is rugged and stays where you lay it. That is 100% of what I know about manicuring road ways. I have enjoyed your recent saga of the backward attatched coupler on youur 2380 as well as your patient and calming reolve of the situation. Good for you. Good future luck. I had a BX2370 and loved it. It is a incredibly capable machine. I was always amazed how you could cut grass at 3500 to 3600 rpm and it would sip the fuel at ½ gallon per hour. After it was paid off I traded it in to upgrade to the B2650 cab. Absolutely loved the BX and even with a 3,000 sq/ft garden it did 90% of what I asked from it. But it couldn't do the heavy lifting with pallet forks that I needed. I have a heavy welding table and other equipment I move around a lot during summer. With no quick attach and just a bucket the bx could probably do 550lbs inside the bucket. And as far as 23 or 26 hp there are 2 attachment that use PTO shaft that would actually benefit from the 26 hp. that would be snowblower and bush hog.

How long is your driveway? I'm looking into a compact tractor myself and my drive is a 1/4 Mile and gets washed away every year (bad drainage) so I'm wondering how long yours is to compare. Thinking between a bx2380 or a b2601.

    • @SunnySlopeHomestead
      @SunnySlopeHomestead  Před 4 lety

Mines about 100 yards with the hill section that washes out every rain. 1/4 mile would be a long all on any tractor. I’m added a a small base rock and have really cut in some graded ditches which seemed to help so far

9:50 - Left side of the screen. Is that a Sasquatch statue?
Do you own the road? Or does it belong to the county? If it belongs to the county, then they should be paying for the gravel and culvert. You might try a slight slope out from the middle making the middle the high point out. Then with more gravel and a culvert your problem should be solved. It might be mostly solved without the culvert.
And WOW you barely miss the garage door, but you do miss it. Amazing!

Drill a hole in the to towards the back of the can and use a fine thread bolt that fits snuggly in hole.... When U want a faster pour, start to loosen the bolt and the looser the bolt the more air it can suck and the more air it sucks the faster the flow.
