Nice compairson with actual music, rather than just some beats. Tivoli clearly outscores on the sound quality. Sangean sounds compressed. I don't mind an analogish sounding radio that cracks at higher volume instead of a controlled sound that doesn't produce emotion in the song as well. The guttural vocals of the lead singer come out so truer on the Tivoli.
I own both of them, the versions without the BT (I believe there's no other difference on both devices - other than the BT function they are the same) and Sangean imho is a better radio.
I used to have Trivoli's they gave out did not last long for the price. Sound crackled and gave out when vol turned up. Sangean is half the price without bluetooth, I do not use bluetooth. I like the lighted dial. Viva La Radio!
Tivoli is clearly the winner, in both sound & looks. I recently bought a Tivoli Model One in black and am so impressed with it, I just bought a Tivoli Pal BT for portable use. Highly recommend Tivoli.

I'm looking to buy a Sangean that has Bluetooth. I read somewhere that stuffing some cotton balls into the port on the back of the radio reduces the bass boom. I don't know whether that's a good or safe thing to do but somebody tried it and they said it reduced the bass depth of the sound.
If you place the radio near to the wall you add 3 dB in low frecuency ( bass ) and in the corner even more. So you can place the radio in a open space and the sound will be more or less flat.
The build quality on the Tivoli is terrible..i had 2 of them die on me..opened it up and it looked like the soldering was done by a 5 year old..overpriced junk..

I have an older Tivoli Model 2, and a much newer Sangean WR 11. Though the Sangean is mono, it still is a much better sounding radio.
I'd say that Sangea is better when listening talk radio and classical/jazz but Tivoli works better with rock style music.
I hsve a Sangean and i realy enjoy this raido a hole lot. I payed $79.00 new fome ABT elctronics.

Tivoli sound is rich and deep while also bring multi-tonal and sparkling. Sangean sounds narrow in comparison to me.

Yeah the Fm reception is good.
My old ears prefer Tivoli, to me the vocal more clearer, but new technology like Bluetooth in Sangean plus point.
