      Hey man, nice video. Thanks. I pick up the QS Synth at Walmart for what, $17.98? I like the Mobil 1 Filters myself. I may move up to 5w30....I use the 5W20 as well but from what I gather you get a little more protection on 5w30?...not really sure. Also I have no leaks but will use like an 1/8th or less, of a quart between oil changes. Somewhere around 3,500 miles on the oil I add like a 1/4 of a cup....yes, it's that little.

    Pretty good young man, however, always start engine, let run about 30 seconds, check for any leaks, make sure oil pressure light Is off, then turn off. Let sit for 2 or 3 minutes, then check oil level. Also, I have the same car, bought new, and Hyundai is adamant about using THEIR oil filters. I grab a few every now and then as I drive past the dealership frequently. Dont want to have any EXCUSES from them should an engine issue arise. I use 10 30 castrol gtx in mine. Dont trust watery oil, and owners manual says it's ok to do so. My engine is much quieter on this, and noticeably noisier on the watery oil. I subscribed 👍

      Hey John, I like your post. I have a 2018 Elantra, SE, 6 speed manual, 2.0 liter 4. Like in the video. I use a Mobil 1 Filter, or WIX, and 5w20 synthetic. I change the oil at 4k-4500. I was thinking of changing the oil and moving up to 5W30 and staying there all year. I live in New England. It does get cold in the winter and somewhat hot in the summer but not hot like down south. Sometimes I feel like I'm throwing my money away changing at 4,500 miles and using full synthetic but I need to keep the car a long time. I was thinking of going Blend, but Full synth might be best. I do notice that, (I have 40K on the odometer), that I use maybe an 1/8th of a quart, very little at around the 3,500 mark and need to add very little. What's you're take on all this, thanks.

      @@joeb2588 They are developing the engine tolerances tighter so they can use thinner oil for its pumpability. The majority of engine wear occurs at start up when you have high rotational load in the valve train, the furthest distance from the oil pump. The sooner the thin oil can get there, the less wear can occur. And, of course, thin oil is much easier to pump and yields slightly better fuel economy.

    Great video! One thing. The placement of your jack stands is precarious. If you follow your door handle straight down and look under the car, you will see two "notches". That is where the stands are supposed to go. Thanks!

    Good video. Thanks for sharing. The only thing that threw me off was your vid pic shows 5w-30 and then you use the recommended oil: 5w-20 to fill.

      Deshon Rogers, you might try driving the car onto ramps, backed up by jack stands, and chocking the back tires. I’ve been doing this method for years and it’s served me well. Yes, you want all the safety measures you can get. 👍🏼

    I am changing oil on my 2019 Elantra SE - the most basic model out there and one of the last vehicles with standard transmission. I cannot find anywhere that tells me how to reset the service engine light after an oil change. I do not have cruise control, nor a menu button on my steering wheel. There seem to be many CZcams videos now on changing oil on 2017-2019 elantras, but not a single one includes resetting the service engine light which I think is actually part of the job, as well as cleaning up after the job.

    I just installed my Fumoto drain valve yesterday. Kinda nervous since the lever is pointed slightly towards the street. Although the plastic kinda covers it up but still. It's also an inch lower on yellow speed racing inverted street pro coilovers.

    It's not necessary to fill up the filter though. And you should probably open the oil cap while draining to get some air in their and get all the old oil out
    What is that spray you used ?

    Why does the washer on plug need to be replaced

    • @123livewire
      @123livewire Před 4 lety +1

      @Isaiah Davis While it's often incorrectly called a crush washer, it's a deformable aluminum washer. The tightened bolt will leave a slight pattern on it when it's tightened up against it. This may leave a small ridge. When you reuse it and tighten the bolt, it will contact that ridge and give the feeling that it's properly tightened. That small ridge will wear down as the bolt expands and contracts from heating and work itself loose.
