Best case scenario we get the 2nd best odds. We are not catching up Chicago though.
The rebuild wouldn't be over even after drafting Bedard. There's still a lot of missing pieces for the this team become elite! I believe in this young defensive core as well as the prospects coming up however, we're still missing at least 2-3 elite level forward before declaring this rebuild to be over !
You need to have two and three Elite players in every position to build from in order to be a Top contending team.
One elite goalie is sufficient.
Two top D's; one stay at home and one that's a puck mover who can quarterback the powerplay.
Two top Centreman (who can score).. three would be better but highly unlikely.
Three top Wingers (who can score) .. right or left, who can also play Centre if needed.
As Tony says... the Canadiens have 4 players to build around...
Suzuki, Caulfield, Dach, Slavkofsky.... and Bedard. Lol

I think if we landed Bedard, we would be fine on Forwards. The Core of Bedard and Suzuki, maybe Beck as 3rd Center, as well as Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky as our core wingers would be more than fine as our forward group. Of course we will need to tweak, and make a few trades etc, but i think the most important thing would be to add another Elite Defenseman, as well as a very solid Goalie. But i wouldnt rush anything still, even if we drafted Bedard. Keep moving forward with the core we have, and add pieces to the puzzle as we go. Dont try and add some 30yr old star Defenseman etc and overpay etc

The Canadiens are still short a Top Centreman and Winger .... even after Bedard. As it stands now they have perhaps 1 complete line.
@@johndiraimo1444 Im not following your logic. Suzuki is a #1 Center, which with Bedard he would actually drop to #2. If you dont think those 2 Centers are a solid tandem, then nothing really to discuss. What do you think about Caufield. How about Slafkovsky. Do you think he will be a bust in 3-4yrs? Highly doubtful that Slaf will not become at least a high level top 6 forward by the time he is 23 (at the very least). You cannot have 6x 8-10mil$ forwards on your team. That would mean you would have prospects as the remaining bottom 6, and less than 25-30mil for Defense and Goalie pairings.

You've already annointed Bedard as your No. 1 or No. 2 top Centreman. Okay.
How about a top Centreman on the third line? Phillip Danault type?
it would be less painful to watch if drouin , dadanov , anderson, armia , hoffman , gallagher would not be ont that team . less chance to move gallagher .
but for the rest , i want hughes to move faster then later . let give a clear signal as where the team is going . those player are not going to go up in value the way the team is playing

A less talented version of Tavares (I guess he is younger) who I wouldn't pay more than 6.5 million.
He is younger and wont cost 10mil. 100% sign him
I would sign PLD if he wants to play for the Canadiens, as long as he is willing to take a small discount. 100% no brainer for me. He is young and seems to be proving he can be a solid 60-70pt Center and most likely will get better. Definitely worth 8mil if he continues that trend over this season and next. Could probably sign for 9-10m with any other team though
@@bgood4449 dont forget Tavares signed for 11m like 4yrs ago. PLD will be asking close to the same in 2yrs.

San Jose and Arizona are the key. If we finish bottom 4 our chances go exponentially up of we finish bottom. Also signing Pierre Luc Dubois is key this offseason.
He won't be UFA this offseason, he will still be RFA. We would have to give assets to get his rights and sign him long term
I am getting tired with this obsession over PLD. I think the guy is selfish and he quit on Columbus. Now he wants out of Winnipeg. Yes he is having a good season but so what? Just because he speaks French why be in a big hurray to saddle the rebuilding team with another cancer. No thanks!
@@johndryden9553 the obsession over thinking he is selfish is 10X worse. If you arent smart enough to understand that so many players in this league have had problems dealing with torts and the winnipeg situation with maurice last year was a mess and its probably the worst city to play in the whole league then just stfu. The guy is a great talent and we would be lucky to have him period
Those who are complaining about the coaching, the team just shows their lack of understanding 🙄 and knowledge of building a team
Building a team is a management issue while coaching is not. Like the Hab's management,, St. Louis as head coach...but the assistant coaches is where the problem is. Whoever is coaching the defense, especially the PK (Robidas?) and the PP (Burrows?) is simply incompetent. Their strategies, or lack thereof, date back to 40-50 years ago.
For MSL to go in there without at least one seasoned veteran of an assistant coach instead of the muppets (Burrows, Robidas, Letowski - two of them worked under Ducharme), that's a crime against humanity.
