    For those of you wandering, the calculator I use in my lessons is basically REQUIRED for A Level Maths as it makes Statistics not so painful (instead of looking through 12 pages of tables you can do calculations in 5 seconds on the calculator). Here's an Amazon link

    Hi, I just want to say thank you for your GCSE videos. During my mocks I struggled to push my grade and kept lingering on a 7. However, the night before every maths exam I would watch your videos and they helped me understand a lot more in such short time! On results day I was happy to see I achieved an 8! My school suggested I do 4 A-levels and my parents are encouraging me to do Maths as my 4th option (alongside English Literature, History and Economics). I would appreciate any advice and if it would be a good option for me.

    • @mitchelldye
      @mitchelldye  Před 10 měsíci

      I'm really glad to hear that the videos were useful! An 8 is a huge accomplishment especially this year.
      As for 4 A Levels, and it being Maths. I'd only take Maths if it was relevant/needed for my university degree. If you are unsure of what you want to do then Maths is a great pick alongside english Lit.
      4 A Levels is a hell of a lot of work though and I wouldn't recommend it. Most universities (I believe economics and LSE is the only exception) do not ask for 4 A Levels, and only consider your 3 best grades. Put it this way, you'll be doing 33% more work than everyone else who is doing 3 A Levels.
      Let me know what you decide/if you have further questions!

      Hi Sir, I just wanted to say your advice really helped me consider my A-level subjects in depth, and I ended up sticking to Maths, English Lit and Economics (I saw why four subjects would’ve been a ton of work!). Furthermore, I watched one of your other videos where you explained that you will cover the Mechanics and Statistics side of the course on Patreon, and the Pure side here on CZcams, and I have a question; regarding the playlist you created for A-level Maths, does it cover all of the required content for both years for Pure? And do the videos support Edexcel Maths as well? Thank you in anticipation for your response.

      The playlist I linked covers all of the content for both years yes! But I am remaking them in a new playlist, with worksheets and markschemes! I also release them such that if you keep up, you'll finish all of the content with exam practice to spare!
      So far the content is for all exam boards, but yes Edexcel is what I am focusing on first :)

      @mitchelldye AEB mathematics. I can't find a textbook for the further mechanics we did but it was full of mistakes if I remember correctly. In those days you could do a level pure and A level mechanics. It was also possible to do a level stats and I think a whole a level in discrete, though I may be mistaken as I can't find any resources for it and would be interested.

    • @mitchelldye
      @mitchelldye  Před 8 měsíci

      @@MeM_UK Yeah in the old spec you had to do 2 applied modules and the options were mechanics, statistics and decision maths. These were part of the regular A Level Maths. I have a question. I dont think i will get the grades to be able to do A-level maths. I was thinking of re-sitting them in November but the results come out in mid January and it might be too late to change my a-level option then and anyway a-level maths is a highly subscribed course. Is it possible for me to learn AS Level maths content myself and sit the exam myself, i know this may sound extreme, but I need a-level maths as universities require it for an econ degree and i checked LSE (London School of Economics) and they require Maths for PPE (Philosophy Politics and Economics). I have heard that A-levels are extremely hard but with the help of your lessons and maths genie will i be able to get an A if i work very hard??

      You can self-study Maths. It's entirely possible, you can even get tuition to help if needed. It will be a bit tricky but not for the reason you may think. The real difficulty is holding yourself accountable and self-studying the content on a regular basis. School forces you to do this. you are more than capable of doing it yourself, and myself and the Discord is here to help of course.

      @@mitchelldye Ah thank you Sir, you've always been a massive help! Despite so many people saying that you just finished gcses and you need to relax, I can't do that for some reason. I mean I relax by doing stuff I enjoy without being forced to and I really want to get ahead because for two years, I've been catching up since I moved countries and changed schools twice and I've always been a perfectionist but my circumstances didn't allow me to get the best grades - Im still hoping for 8s and 9s though it's been really hard - But my point is I want to get ahead for A levels because I've always been behind for the past 2 years and I kinda enjoy studying. Is there anything wrong with that?

      I'm sorry to hear about your circumstances, it sounds like you really persevered and worked hard to get whatever grades you end up getting and should be proud of that fact.
      There is nothing at all wrong with reading ahead to get a head start at all. You hit the nail on the head when you said you can relax whilst studying ahead since there's no pressure. I recommend taking a break of course but keeping your Maths skills on point by practicing every now and then is a really smart move.
