This is one of the few Chisel songs I would recommend you listen to the Official music video version - it really give the song a time and place. And a cleaner mix on the vocals throughout.

I absolutely love ❤️ this. The added bonus is the beautiful Miss Venetta Fields (who we usually see as part of John Farnhams back up singers) and the dearly departed Queen of Soul Miss Renee Geyer RIP. This song was in their final album released in 1984 (yes after they disbanded originally and last stand tour in 1983). Perhaps that is why Jimmy was helping Mossy with the lyrics. Love the smiles and the wiliness to help is mare.
Damn if they wanted to they could have been rocking all thus time. Just saw

Both the backing vocalists are phenomenal in their own right. Renee Geyer was our queen of soul.

@Rory this was one of just the first 2 performances of this song at a live concert. It was played for the first time on 14th December 1983, 2nd time on the 15th December and for the 3rd time 15 years later on 23rd November 1998. It was the 22nd song performed on both nights of the Last Stand tour in 1983 as the first of the first encores, previous song both nights was Wild Thing.
Blonde back up singer was Renee Geyer who sadly passed away earlier this year.
As mentioned the lyric sheet was required as Mossy messed up the first verse.

Cold Chisel were originally a pub band!
We have cover bands in Australia, they play in pubs, they play 'Pub Rock' and they cover Cold Chisel.
There is nothing offensive about calling Cold Chisel a pub band.
This is what we grew up on.
    How lucky are we?!!

No, you do not do enough of Cold Chisel lol, for me, one of the best reactors on CZcams. So do more Aussie music. lol. You deserve more subscribers. Aussies are musically inclined, so keep reacting to Aussie music in general. Aussies are so proud of our music talent. Which should have been more received overseas. However, I just believe, when it comes to music labels etc., it is more about control over the music and how they can be represented as in, image etc. Not about the musical talent. Hence why Cold Chisel and other bands never made it in the US market.
Aussies could not care less about image; we want music from the grass roots upwards. Real music from the heart. This band is talented in every sense. The whole band individually is talented. Please Keep showcasing Aussie/NZ music, there are so many bands from here and New Zealand that do not get credit for overseas, where they should. From an Aussie that has lived around the world.
I am not a Kiwi; however, as a young Australian going out. we all listened to music from NZ as well. . We were blessed with growing up with amazing bands from New Zealand. Dragon, Datsuns, Split Enz, Crowded House (both Aus and Kiwi CH ), (the list goes on with NZ bands that are amazing). So much talent down this end of the world that needs to be explored around the world.

Hahahaha this must have been the first performance, Mossy messed the words up so badly, till Barnesy brought out the lyrics. So good!
    Great reaction too Rory.

In the 80s, I was in my 20s. Yes, we listened to a lot of English music, and American. And of course, we had our own home grown music too. Don't get me wrong, we loved it at the time, but listening to it now, I realise just how lucky we were to have these great local bands. I'm glad you are enjoying them Rory.

  • @megbond

This is fun, but the official film clip is better - and Mossy knows the words then... Don Walker filmed the footage of Saturday Night in Kings Cross from the back of a ute driving along the street to add the atmosphere as a backing to the song.

I would usually say Aussie bands are better live - but not this song. This is one of my favourite Cold Chisel songs, but I prefer the studio version.

Another great reaction mate. If there's one Chisel song I recommend is Star Hotel. Pretty sure you'll get a kick out of the back story too.

This is a lovely track, but it has a slow kinda start. One of my faves as well.
You might have noticed Vanetta Fields doing back up. She is in all the John Farnham live stuff you’ve reacted to.
    Good Stuff
