    Amazing views from the top of Breckenridge Ski Area on Peak 10 trail. This trail is relatively short and it took me an hour to get to the top and then an hour back down. The lower part of this trail through the ski area is easy. It is rocky in places but there are no major or even minor obstacles. Any aggressive stock SUV or vehicle with low range gearing can complete this trail. Once you reach the basin below Peak 10, that is when the fun begins! There are a series of tight switchbacks that are mostly all narrow. My buddy completed this trail in his stock Nissan Titan truck but I would only recommend that for an experienced driver. I saw many stock vehicles on the trail this day and stock Jeep Wrangler TJ was at the top and he had no trouble on the trail at all.
    I am glad that I ran this trail as the views at the top were incredible.

    Good job on that last switchback. I've done it twice and both times panicked and gunned it. Even with lockers I was spinning. It looks like you took a little tighter line and eased through it.

    We rented a Jeep in town and started this climb. We got to the first basin thinking we really did something only to find 4 pot-heads in a Scooby-Doo van snow boarding on the last remaining snow on the mountain. Pretty funny experience.

    What psi should I run for trails like this? I've got a grand Cherokee summit with the 20in wheel package but have Falken Wildpeak AT Trail tires on it. Aired down to around 28-9psi when doing Mt. Rosa/Almagre trail out here in Colorado Springs, but want to be careful and cognizant of what's best given the weight/wheel size

    • @Colorado4x4
      @Colorado4x4  Před 2 lety +2

      What pressure do you run on the street? I would probably go a little lower but not sure how much sidewall height you have?

    • @XxrollinbxX
      @XxrollinbxX Před 2 lety +1

      @@Colorado4x4 Usually run around 36-40psi since reading that it was the "best" psi for on road with suvs. I've got 265/50/R20 so aspect ratio is 50. Thanks for the response btw, vids are awesome

    • @Colorado4x4
      @Colorado4x4  Před 2 lety

      It’s more of a trial and error kind of thing. Every rig and tire is different. I just love when people go to talking about tire pressure because it seems like everyone gets all up in arms when in reality, every tire and rig is different. I usually just pick a pressure and start going down from there. I would probably start at high 20s and then just see how they do. If you can have someone else drive for a few minutes, get out and look at the tires and look at the sidewall when the tire goes over a thin, sharp rock. You definitely want some good tire pressure between the rock and the rim, but you want the tire to conform to the rock too. After a while you will get a feel for it more than anything and we usually just play around with pressures. If you hear the tire burping air or “farting” then you’ve gone too far 😝 - Geoff
