The birds goin' crazy!
as you were beginning to talk about magical realism an animal walked behind you and was never seen again.
1:09 You're welcome
"It isn't really much of a mystery, this occasional need I have to comfort my father. I did something terrible to his son once." is still my favorite book quote of all time John.
Add in the similarities and feelings a song like pink and blue invokes, which I fell connected to as an Oklahoma boy, adopted at nine days old, swaddled in a pink and blue blanket with an eager if unprepared father, and it feels like you can see my life before it has happened.
I thought this was a book announcement but this looks really cool and I’d love this to be a regular series !
Please continue to tell us about books!
Obligatory biji biji kurdistan to anything mentioning Kurdish history. ☺️ I actually think I’ve read part of this book at one point, and I was a fan. I remembered once you mentioned Kurdish history.
ohhh yes keep the recs coming!!
What a relaxing sounding back yard c:
🌇
Thank you for the great review! Looking forward to this series taking the world by storm! 😊
I, for one, am ultimately transformed.
yay! always nice to get cool book recs!
Aaaaaaahhhhh I love you
I am currently blitzing through two books a week, on a current fixation oscillating between buying new cassette tapes and reading. I've just finished Devil House last week (couldn't put it down), and now Im halfway through Rabid: A Cultural History of the World's Most Diabolical Virus. We should have a book club for people who don't consistently check in with one another.
I agree with this idea. I also get fixated on reading. I'm neurodivergent so it can become problematic at times lol.
@@OpioidSlumber lol absolutely same. I spend too much money and time on each of my 150 different hobbies. My apartment is too small for my scattered brain and its collections. A tMG book group would be a cool idea, especially with sporadic discussions of random titles. Delightful!
Me and my dad love your music.
This sounds great. Gonna check it out.

I ordered it
I've had Devil House on my shelf for the past year and only just got around to reading it.
i love booktube john
what are your thoughts on john green
I'd read anything you recommended, John. You are the best lyricist of our time and also a fantastic author.
Drop your favorite JD novel. Mine's Wolf in White Van (even though Devil House is objectively the GOAT in terms of literary mechanics).
@@Pandidolod bought it yesterday! (Wolf in White Van.)
@@Charlotte-1 omg you gotta read it, my friend. And when you do, come back to this thread and gimme your thoughts! It'll be like we're friends.
@@Pandidolod Wolf In White Van. Have y'all read his first book about the kid and Metallica?
This is so wonderful! I read Dawn by Sevgi Soysal after I saw how you rated it on your Goodreads and I'm excited to read this one too! Your reviews of Every Fire You Tend and Coming Through Slaughter also excite me to read those as well. I can't wait to see more of these.
Please always talk forever.
Whenever I see John Mountain Goats I think he's going to have a british accent and then he starts talking
The question is: What sort of British accent?
@@Pandidolod Like that one guy from Monty Python, Eric Idle I think
Hmm, I need to check my Goodreads. I usually get an email which tells me what you're reading. I've picked up a number of books this way.
I forget when or where you recommended it, but I read Hammer on Bone and fucking loved it. I will definitely be taking all of these suggestions.
MUMBLER!! Lol
Humbly requesting Hurricane Season for John Darnielle Tells You About a Book by Fernanda Melchor translated by Sophie Hughes. Thank you!
I am excited to know what this book is that you are excited about John!
John you should start a podcast about this!
For some reason, I picture John as liking some blend of Murakami and Sylvia Plath.
Anyway, I love this! I love book recommendations from a musician I love and one so skilled with words.
I have dyslexia but I'll read anything JD recommends
JD, have you read any books by Orhan Pamuk, the Turkish writer who was prosecuted for speaking up on behalf of the Kurds and the Armenians? The charges were dropped eventually--although his life was threatened. He later won the Nobel Peace Prize, which he richly deserved. My favorite books are: My Name is Red, The White Castle, The Black Book--and more. I think you'd like him. Lots of info here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orhan_Pamuk
me and my friend think itd be very funny if you recommended some hardcore anime pornography next time love u
he seems like a classic urotsukidouji guy don't you think
