I used your instructions for the A7IV and it worked too! Thanks so much!!
Thanks for posting! I have a 7rii that fell out of the truck and crunched the screen, received the replacement today and will try replacing it tomorrow. I used to repair cameras back in the 80's and a lot has changed. It will be interesting to see how it goes. Now that I've seen this I will soak the double tape with alcohol before disassembly, I will let you know how it goes. It would be good if I did a video myself. Looks like the trickiest part is getting the flex circuit back into the module without damage.
good post
For the wide/big cable there is a white "clamp" sitting on the right side of the slot (tilt it up) to be able to insert the cable easily :) But thanks the video still was helpful! :)
i did not see that and struggled and damaged it.. getting a 2nd screen now and will see how it goes with your hint! thx!
Hi Thanks for posting this video, do you have a link for the screwdriver set
Hi could you tell me the width of the double sided sticky tape? I just need to replace the broken plastic frame (the LCD is ok). Looks like 1 mm wide but not sure! And is it thin or thick? Thanks!
Thanks for posting this. What was the cause of the repair? And how did you know that you need to replace the screen and not the ribbon
I have a A7III and the LCD no longer works as well. The viewfinder display mode is on monitor, so the camera works fine but I can no longer view the LCD or viewfinder. Do you know if I can bypass the LCD with an external monitor to change the viewfinder display mode?
My hotshoe connection pins are broken, so it doesn’t take any information from the flash, can you make a movie where I can’t replace that part? I can buy it for $40 but i would like to know how to take of the top to bring out the viewfinder and replace that hotshoe
oh that sucks! I haven't had to replace a hot shoe, if I do i'll be more than happy to make a video about it.
Is the screen still working now? Im a bit hesitant replacing it myself since i dont know anything about electronics. Is it expensive to have sony fix it?
Yes. Works great. I believe it’s around a $400 or $450 repair if I remember correctly
@@sparksmediagroup thanks! Kinda in the fence between which one to do. Just freakin wrecked my screem in a waterfall in iceland last week. I thought it was weathersealed. Oh well, i learned the hard way.
ahh yes, it can be nerve wrecking. If you aren't comfortable tinkering with small screws it might be best to send it off :).
hello, i tried doing the replacement, i got the Display to turn on, like the backlight works and everything, but there is no data on the screen, nor can i see the pictures from the camera, any thoughts?
are you sure all the ribbon cables are seated properly? they are pretty small and finicky. I actually destroyed one screen not being careful and fried the cable.
I cringed when i saw you using those tweezers. Nice attempt tho!
@@sparksmediagroup lol. So I didn't really understand from watching. The ribbon cable burnt out? So how did you replace it?
I used metal tweezers the first time on the ribbon cable and that knicked it enough to burn out the screen. I had to buy a new (3rd screen) and that works perfectly.
@@sparksmediagroup oh ok got it! Thanks for helping me understand. Nice job taking it on yourself and sharing.
You're a life saver. My camera fell out of my bag and the screen stopped working and It would have taken over a month to get it back if I sent it off to be fixed. But with this video I was confident enough to open it up and found my ribbon cables had just detached. It's working just fine now. Thanks!
glad you could fix it!
