I ain’t going to lie my mind flashback to the game Tattletale when I saw Furby…… I can’t stand that toy.
I had the original furby and it would literally scream in the middle of the night for no reason. My brother also had one and his malfunctioned at around 2am woke the whole house making weird noises etc and we couldn't turn it off and the batteries were screwed in and we couldn't find a screwdriver anywhere, was a total nightmare and they both ended up locked in the garage haha 🤣
I got the original Furby on a family trip to Portugal and it would sing and talk everyone awake in the middle of the night. My dad tried to shut it up by throwing beach towels over it and when that didn’t work it eventually got locked outside on the balcony! 😭

When The Sims 4 released in 2014 it cost something around $59.99 for the basic version. The very base game didn't become free until 2022.
It released 10 years ago!!?? Wooww... still think of it as new.
I remember buying the sims 4 on ps4 when it was on sale for like 5 dollars and like a month later, it was free. I was so mad that I couldn't have waited longer lmao
Edit: I know 5 dollars isn't a lot so I wasn't tripping that much, but given how little they give you in the base game, it being free is a justice we needed lol
There were a few times a year it would become free before 2022, though. I got the base game around 2019 during one of these times.

the fact you paid over 200$ for the original Furby, but my sister and I both got them for christmas the year they came out and they ended up destroyed... :'D I literally set one of them on FIRE before we moved from that first house. :'D They freaked us out because they never stopped. The one I set on fire with friends literally came back to life after being in the basement for a couple years :'D

My mom got my 6yo that new Furby for Christmas and honestly as a parent I have to say it's well worth the $50. That thing is hands down her favorite toy she's ever had, and keeps her occupied longer than any other toy has. She loves how interactive it is and loves to talk to him, baby him, and do his hair 😂
28:21 fun fact about lightbulbs, lightbulbs were actually made a lot better so they lasted longer which meant less sales as you don't need to replace them as often.. obviously less money being spent so they actually made lightbulbs less reliable to increase how often you had to replace them, which is probably why all these lightbulbs in those products still worked. I cant remember where I read this information but its always been something that stuck in my brain lol

I am 51 years old and I REMEMBER playing on a litebrite and my joy when I received an Easy Bake oven. Would be in the late 70's & early 80's.
Light bright!, I loved that system.
49 here and same. Litebrite was hours of fun and creativity. Although, my parents refused the Easy Bake- had to go to a friends house for that fun.
Same. I'm 53 and grew up with a Lite-Brite that was as old at me. It might have actually been a few years older than me since they first came out in '67. I almost bought an actual vintage one recently (much older than Hope's from 1993) that I found online, but logic prevailed.

My grandma had a green one that she always had on her shelf and one day she let me have it. I liked playing with it at her house, but it creeped me out when I brought it home and it started talking in the middle of the night. I already had a Barney the dinosaur toy that would do the same thing, his voice would get deep and distorted when the batteries were dying and he would turn on randomly in the middle of the night, so having to hear both of them at the same time like that gave me nightmares lol

The first Lite Brite came out in 1967. I'm 64 and I knew I had played with one when I was a child. OMG the original MIckey Mouse is terrifying. The other one is pretty bad because it is so big. I plays Sims 4 on my Macbook...pretty much every day. But long for the days of the OG Sims. lol
I have never played Sims on console, so was shook at the PS2 Sims already being 360 degrees. Original Sims on computers was only 4 angles and 3 zoom levels, lol.

My experience with sky dancers was that in the mid-1990's I got mini sky dancers in my easter basket, and the neighbor boy snatched it out of my easter basket, and shot it directly in my face, all while breaking the launcher and the sky dancer both. THANKS JOEY C!

AHH bringing the internet more attention to my furby friends. Custom furbys & long furbys are a separate niche along with the robots themselves. They can be literally anything.
Custom ones are referred to as Oddbodys when they take the shape of other things with furby face plates. I have Pokémon ones, one of Appa, the bugslife caterpillar.. etc. Ive taken them to renaissance festivals and got stopped for pictures more than once! They’re really fun and sometimes can be cute, the makers are extremely nice.
The one that made the octopus is Plushiecouture! I have bought quite a few from them along side another furb maker that doesn’t sell anymore. If you ever buy from plushiecouture though expect more than just what creature you choose! You’ll get a few others and a lot of other goodies that sometimes include handmade/vintage pieces you don’t usually find. Some of it can be resold but some of it will be little trinkets and keychains etc. Though sometimes you can ask to customize the order if you do like another one too!
This is something I wasn’t expecting to see one of my fav CZcamsrs to come across but it needs more attention! You can also definitely find more oddbody/ long furbys on mercari too sometimes!
(Yadidgood.slick & furbtasrophe are my Instagrams to find them if you’re interested.. I have a lobster furby if anyones interested… lol? Sadturtleemoji on mercari too)
