  • Hello and welcome to the SPOOLIN UP channel.
    In this video, I replace both of the lower seals for the rear quarter windows. The seals had become perished and disintegrated so it was time for them to be exchanged.
    The job itself was time-consuming, but the most part was removing the residue from the old double sided tape used on the original seals. I try to replace most things on thr BMW with OEM parts to keep it original.

    Thanks for the tutorial mate! Knocked it out on my M3 this morning. Used the heat gun to help initially but it does require patience to work the glue off.

    Most excellent DIY video, sir! E46 owners around the world should watch this, my local body shop wanted $750-$900 and they asked me to leave the car for 36 hours. Ouch. PARTS: my 2004 E46 M3 Coupe (last 7 of VIN: PN56264) has matte black (aka shadowline) trim rather than the gloss black trim that you used. Parts for my silver M3 are: 51368194741 (L) and 51368194742 (R), genuine BMW. In the USA (circa 10/2023), about $61.50 each.

      I tried my best with the video and its only of those jobs that you need to be patient with. Removing the old glue from the double sided tape is not easy. Wow!! They wanted to charge a lot of money for that for sure. Thanks for sharing those part numbers 👊🏾 people will find them very useful.

    • @pondum_
      @pondum_ Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@SPOOLINUP Yeah the bottom seal is like already $200 unless I’m not looking at the right part number. For a broke college student an E46 was probably a poor choice 😂. But I can’t find the part number for the top/back one(s) do you by chance have it??

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I don't have the part number for that top seal/trim but if you really need it, I could find it. The E46 isn't cheap to repair but when it is working it works very well so it's also a good choice for you in another aspect.

      That would be much appreciated I checked realoem but I could've just missed something. And yeah the whole drivetrain has been incredibly reliable for me which has been awesome. I'm glad I didn't get a 335i that would've been a nightmare.@@SPOOLINUP

    @The..Mechanic Před rokem +1

    The other window seal you mention at 10:15 is breaking on my 330ci too. I’ve found replacement window seals however they cost $3500 each… keen to hear if you’ve found any cheaper ones 😂

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  Před rokem

      Yes man, unfortunately they are not cheap at all, which is very annoying. I wonder if they are available at a breakers year or maybe it's not a re-usable part. I might make the enquiry from BMW. Do you mean $3500 or $350?

    • @The..Mechanic
      @The..Mechanic Před rokem +1

      I’ve asked about second hand parts from a wrecker and been told they aren’t reusable. I’m in Australia and haven’t found any after market parts either… only OEM from BMW. They cost $3500 AUD each and I need two haha.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  Před rokem

      @The..Mechanic I suspected you wouldn't be able to use them again. Its a shame, they are just too expensive and there is a market for them on these older cars. It's just a trim and a seal, maybe on some of the E46 forums and pages there might be some more helpful advice.
