I paid £1100 for my 06 plate. Since then I have had the cambelt done, new clutch, rear beam poly bushers fitted, new starter motor, Done all the minor bodywork faults myself, upgraded the coolant hose system with a new thermostat gasket. Bought and fitted, 15" Motorsport team dynamics alloys and just taken the hell of good care out of it with regular servicing and oil changes. Never let me down. except when S.Motor went. I love my Fusion 2, £30 tax per year, so people can slate all they want. Mine is f***ing awesome and everything works great. Marvelous car, everyone to their own, Keep paying 100's to the Government in road tax people, my car rocks!!! Oh and I have had the air con recently serviced and recharged. So slag off all you want!!!!👍😎🌙🌟😎👍

Got myself a 1.6 petrol fusion about 6 months ago low mileage 63k when I got it! Done over 5k and fingers crossed not a single issue paid £1800! I have never owned a Ford before but needed something ULEZ compliant so mine is 07 reg so just compliant but I can do most of the simple stuff myself, got a tyre done before the MOT in November and the guy fitting the tyre just patted the roof and said these things are indestructible so nice and positive, took it for the MOT few days layer and there's normally at least an advisory but no passed straight through not a single thing wrong with it but I had already popped to Euro car parts and got everything for a full service apart from oil and both front lower suspension arms for £300 which I was going to fit but ran out of time before MOT but it passed so gonna do that next year when the whether cheers up looks easy enough to do myself! Tax is a bit more on the 1.6 but thought better get the bigger engine as I do drive fairly briskly sometimes and it's actually fun to drive and super practical boot space is perfect! Had loads of cars before best ones was an old 406 which still to this day was in my opinion the best car I ever owned in pure day to day reliability 1.8 never once let me down in 7 years and I abused it, and only other was my 306 diesel, first diesel I have ever owned but that 2.0 hdi was rock solid the only reason I replaced both of those was I fancied something nicer or sportier and regret getting rid of both so the fusion is now my new version of those seems solid so I will keep it until it dies I have learnt a valuable lesson on replacing what other consider boring cars that where actually fun to drive and stress free simple to work on! Love the little Ford fusion and TBH hate it when people slag them off they unfortunately where so ahead of there time they got forgot and SUVs took over there are not many SUVs that have much more room inside or as practical as my fusion!

Sad as I may be, I love these under rated Ford's. Yes it's not gonna win any beauty pageants or rip the lid of a rice pudding, but as you said it's economical and solid. I currently have a 2008 1.6tdci Fusion+ with 120,000k on the clock. Top speck with leather seats and cruise control. I do 20,000+ miles a year mainly motorway and other than consumables (tyres and servicing etc) it's never missed a beat. Lugs all my work gear and room for the kids at the weekend and still returns 70+mpg.

@@HatefulEntertainment yes I would. There easy to drive, cheap to insure and maintain, and fairly solid if you dont mind a few scuffs and bashs. By the way I still have the same car and its now done over 160k miles. Had the timing belt and water pump replaced at 150k at a cost of £350, so it should go on to do another 150k miles. The only problem I have is that as mine is a dirty desiel so isnt ULEZ compliant. Hope this helps.

Excellent review. I've had an 03 1.4 tdci for five years. Hated it at first but have grown to like it if not love it. Had done 135k - now only 155k but apart from a couple of shock absorbers it's not had anything done to it. I do have the oil and filter changed every year but nothing else. What I didn't like was the hard ride but have got used to it; the engine's agricultural but reliable, plus I get more than 60 mpg. Don't like the styling at the back but the rest I don't mind. Best thing is the low rear sill and excellent carrying capacity. Enjoy driving something uncool and not owned by a finance company. Would prefer it to an Astra..

If I needed a beater I'd buy/drive it. I think I proved it by owning a standard 900cc cinquecento but it was a grocery getter as I used to ride motorbikes 90% of the time.

If i could put in a radiator pump made of metal and rid of the plastic one that would be awesome and the same with the thermostat get rid of the plastic one, and put in a metal one again awesome, Opel Astra great car especially the diesel one i believe it has a Isuzu engine same as my Opel moka 1.7 diesel.i like the 1.4 diesel ford Fusion for it's space, and many miles to the gallon would be inexpensive to run all over Europe with four people for camping 🏕️👍.

Honestly, I absolutely love these kind of videos. You're by far my favourite CZcams as I can see the amount of thought that goes into each video. These kinds of videos are the reason I subscribed. Couldn't care less about watching people mess around with £10,000+ cars , I love to see how you transform cars destined for the scrap yard. This car is definitely not everyone's cup of tea but with a little tlc could be a fantastic family car for someone. Keep up the good work, I cannot wait to see the next video, you've always got my like!

No problems, as for the 'trading up' challenge maybe start off with this car and set yourself an end goal of your dream car. Try and trade your way up to your dream motor, just a thought!
