- It's not often you see a second generation Plymouth Roadrunner going down the quarter mile, but to see two racing each other is quite a treat for the eyes! What makes this more unique is that two friends Steve McDonald and Jim Leach both from New Lennox, Illinois are the owner of these two brightly colored mopars. Pick your favorite as Steve's is a '71 that was an original 383 4 speed car but now has a 498ci/440 engine that he bracket races but still drives on the street while Jim's is a '72 powered by a 440 magnum that he describes as a fun street car. #musclecar #mopar #roadrunners
Beautiful Plymouth's! Mopar fan for life and will never change.
Thanks for posting the video of me and Steve's cars. I had a great time that day.
You're welcome bud! 👊
❤❤
Could watch this all day 😊
I have a white 71 w/ a 383 and a 4-speed. Always thought the front end was the coolest design. Nice RR’s !👍🏼
I had a similar 72 Road Runner and the hood mounted turn indicators were on the hood but a Satellite had fender mounted turn indicators.
Grew up with a ‘71… still in love…
I've had 71'thru 74's I use to hunt them 😊when I was kid I'd ride my bigwheel past Mr. Norms Grand Spaulding Dodge when I was a kid my Ole man worked there, good times😊
Wow you no doubt seen some awesome cars at Mr. Norm's!👍
Beautiful cars.
I had a 73 and a 74, but in recent years I've started to like the 71s and 72s better.
Good video.
Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍👊
Awesome pair of road runners.. I had the reverse of the same 2 cars back in early 80s. Mine was a orange 71 383 4 speed, And I gave my better half a Yellow 72 with the factory 400/727. Brought back good memories if mine. 👍👍👍
I’ve had 2 1971 Runners boy do I miss them 🥴
My 1st Mopar was a Red and Rust 72 Satellite, 400hp/4spd. I've had 4 of that body style all total, and I don't think anything Looks Better, just Slick as grease. Nice Beepers 👍👍💯
I want a purple '72 with a 426 Hemi... Yeah. I likey.
I had a 1970 Roadrunner with a 383 and 4 Speed with a Hurst Pistol Grip. Loved that car. Of course I had to fix the second gear syncros a couple of times. Top speed 80 at 5000 RPM. You could see the gas gauge actually moving. 😢😂
Ice cars you guys.i had a 67 and 68 dodge coronet both with 440. S.67 was a max wedge 68 hp 440 cam higher then stock both fun to drive.love my mopars
My first car was an 1971 383 4bbl Road Runner, Forrest Green & White, with an Air Grabber Hood with White Strobe Stripes on the rear pillar!
Fun car got into slot of fun with it, sold it to buy an 1973 340 Barracuda, way back in 1982!
That's one hell of a leaf blower,love my MOPArS 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤🎉🎉 f j b 😊😅
Prfct Muscle cars..⚒️💪👌
Good Luck
From Czech crew 🏁🤜🤛
Awesome thanks!
Stunning
My first car was a '74 Roadrunner with a 318. Same hood as a 440 Magnum... Dudes would rev up next to me, I'd rev up with my 'thrush' mufflers, give 'em the thumbs-up, the light would change...
They'd leave me in the dust, because I would never even accelerate!!! LMAO!!!!!
Da beep don't sleep 😎💪🇺🇸
I'll trade you that pedal assembly out of your yellow 71 for the one in my '72. It's an automatic that I'm converting to 4-speed and I could sure use that manual pedal assembly that you aren't using. Both cars are AMAZING!!!!
Some day I’ll restore it! Still have the numbers matching drivetrain tucked away!!
@@stevemcdonald2722 Low 11s is Impressive for a Heavy Car.👍👍
Mopar #1 I had a 72 Satellite sebring that could of passed as a Richard Petty car.
Always liked the second gen roadrunners for sum reason myself.
nice when i was a kid i had a 71 R. R. it was a brown paint. put it was a 440 six pack 4 speed Dana 410 gears i put 915 heads on it crane cam headers it would stay with 340 darts ? But i would get them at the end most of the time
BEEP-BEEP!!!!
MEEP MEEP
Those to birds can sing and fly.
A very long time ago I had A orange 71 Satellite,Somebody put A 383 and a 4 speed in it ,I got from my friend i traded stereo setup for it,I had it A while the traded it to another friend for A bunch Of model railroad stuff.Wis I still had it.
Ouch yeah that sounds like a great car to have today
It was about 81 or 82 I think,It was originally a small block automatic car.The boy was near perfect and the only thing the interior needed was work around where the put the 4 speed in.
That should read the body was near pperfect.,I hate auto correct.
4.30 gear ratio vs 3.55 ? It's a no brainer who is going to win
Mopar rules,,,,and i was gonna say,,,the 440/6,,,,16s???,,,in the first pass,,,wtf¿¿¿¿,,,,redemption, on the 2nd,,,😎
Yeah he restored it and first time down the track didn't want to wad it up
My uncle has a71 blue GTX
Always loved GTX's! Back in the day friend had a blue one too with a white interior. 440 with a 4 speed car was a beast. 👍
The red one is gorgeous, but the 1/4 mile times are not very consistent.
The yellow one is clearly set up for the drag strip, and not as clean as the red one. The two quarter mile runs shown are nearly identical, however.
First time out for the red one and yeah the yellow one is set up to drag race.
Could of seen more of the cars if they'd of left them on the trailer.Nobody has enough balls for an original four speed!?
If you’re referring to the yellow one I drove and bracket raced it for several years with the original 3 spd manual then a 4 spd but it was killing parts! I did very well racing it 3 rearends 2 driveshafts and the windshield started to separate I decided to go with the automatic! Saving a numbers matching car I’ve owned for over 30 years!
NOT all that rare. MOPAR produced near 200,000 of them.
Not of these
14,218 in '71. About half that in '72.
Impressive numbers... But should have left them bone stock and original. Oh well, these boomer geezers and their mid-life crisis cars. 😆
The yellow one has been raced for years not like it was recently built.
My son is building a 71 Satellite as seen on Mullet Break Motorsports on utube
