I’ve been doing software development since 1996 just like you! I remember data centers and server rooms and installing Windows 95 and NT server. We had an IBM mainframe (hospital) so we had to also install Hummingbird terminal emulation software. Computers were not networked so we took CDs 💿 desk to desk !! Individual installations.
This is convenient but very high TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP over time. When it’s integral to the business, you’ll have reliable MRR/ARR and this is why SaaS companies have great multiples when they exit .. this transfers and it’s super valuable.
When I first started my biz, I worked with a programmer to automate our processes….. and that software now serves as the most used for Dance Competitions & Conventions! It was an amazing experience to systemize & simplify processes! Oh…. And the power of segmentation & data!!!! Game changer!!!! Heard you on Brad Lea!!! Followed….. diving into your content!!! Throwing my hat in the ring for the raffle 🎉🎉🎉
i was watching this and was like what's the big deal. Mid way I'm like man we millennials take a lot of things for granted. Infastructure and tech that wasn't there a mere decade ago.
I think the old times might return. Keeping in mind the huge number of hackers coming up daily, its just one major breach which might collapse the trust in cloud. Im asked to make an assessment on ethical pen test findings in last years, its just increasing double fold numbers😊
