    Funny story. So started watching this video while sitting at a long red light. I'm not a big fan of makeup sponges so I'm like "Cool, I'll stop at Dollar Tree on my way home." I didn't see them at the Dollar Tree, but I kept wandering around. Then it hit me. I LEFT MY DOG IN THE CAR WITH MY LUNCH!! Boy, nail art will surely get you off track. Lol. My lunch was safe, but now I have to check all of the Dollar Trees for these sponges. 😃

    Completely agree with you on that particular type of sponge. I discovered it a while back and it made all the difference in my gradients. Also, it holds more polish which cuts down on having to add polish over and over.

    I buy those sponges from the Dollar Tree! And can't do gradients with the makeup sponges, have never been able to.
    I already cut my kitchen sponge up and can't wait to try it! Thanks for being so smart.

    The textured side works well, too. I use tiny pieces to sponge small areas of polish with a textured look.

    I also prefer the kitchen sponge. I need to try the green sponge also for texture. I usually slice it off and to use on my dishes lol TFS!!

    I prefer using kitchen sponges better than make up sponges too. Great video and I agree, the colours are great together 💜 Thank you for sharing 💜

    Going to try this. I use the scrubby bits to clean my makeup brushes during application. A couple of passes over the scrubby bits and you can use the brush again. (This doesn't replace washing the brushes but it's great during active use.)

    Wow how much you got out of that application. So much color. Time to run down to the dollar store. What a difference from the wedges.

    such a full informative video. so interesting & really enjoyed. i've avoided this process because it is so messy. i like your ideas, especially around the cuticle. picking the right color combo is pretty key also. i change my sponges weekly. (for kitchen). don't think i've seen the one with that groove. neat. made me smile using the scrubby part for texture. good for you.

    No need to wet the sponge first? It looks really nice and like it does work better than the makeup sponge. Thank you for always sharing your awesome ideas!

    • @KyongLee
      @KyongLee  Před 6 lety +2

      +Sandra Main I tried wetting it the first time I tried it but didn't this time, and it didn't make a difference just as long as you have enough polish on the sponge.

  • @Bonparsco
    @Bonparsco Před 6 lety +3

    You said you don't like the makeup sponge because it's too dense. A good trick to make them work better is to wet them, then squeeze out the excess to make the sponge just 'damp'.

    • @KyongLee

    I buy those kitchen sponges from the DT all the time, and will be trying them for gradients now that I've seen how nicely they can work. :) I had put a different kind of cleaning sponge inside of a jar, (like you did to clean your wm tool), and the acetone are it up! :( I should make another one. I agree with you - when the white undies show through at the cuticle - both with gradients and wm - drives me crazy!

    That looks like a great idea. I am a subscriber. I don't want to offend you but I think you should consider editing your videos some more and doing voice'overs. It was hard sitting through all the ums. I think it will give your videos a more polished feel and you will probably get more subscribers. Again, I am really not trying to offend. I like the tips you give and your nails look great.

    Would you do it the same way for baby boomer nails (pink & white)? I tried make up sponge and didn't like it at all, there was no gradient! I tried my kitchen sponge (like the one on your video) with just dabbing on the white and it looked great. (I didn't try it on my nails but on a large piece of clear tape, BTW, wanted to see how it went before trying it on my nails) I'm just worried about the end texture on the nail. I'm wondering if just dabbing the white will look well or if I have to dab both colours for the texture on the nail not to look awful. If you want to give your opinion, that will be great, as I have no idea how to do these things. Thanks! 😊 I loved your video, btw!! 👌🏻👌🏻

    I don't know why, but pieces of sponge stay on my nails? Can someone help me?

    • @KyongLee
      @KyongLee  Před 6 lety +3

      Try dampening the sponge you use. If the sponge gets too dry, pieces of sponge stick to your nails.

    HI hun. Did u soak the piece of sponge in acetone that u used to do the gradient?

    • @KyongLee
      @KyongLee  Před 5 lety

      No, why would you soak the sponge in acetone? To clean it? They're cheap enough that it isn't worth trying to clean.

    • @roxannepercy7271
      @roxannepercy7271 Před 5 lety

      I think u misinterpret my question. I meant if u soak the sponge in acetone then u apply the polish to do the gradient

    • @KyongLee
      @KyongLee  Před 5 lety

      Oh, no I would not use acetone for that. For make up sponges I would dampen the sponge with water so it doesn't dry out so quickly but for this kind of sponge, water was not needed.
