I think the different forms of P2W has jaded the world and the threshold for each of these forms is more acceptable by America (and people, in general), when it's pushed. I'll explain what I mean by forms of P2W:
Model 1: The game has a battle pass that will give you a boost of experience and cosmetics. The game IS level capped. There are also cosmetics in the store. -- I don't see this as a terrible form of P2W as experience only with a level cap will only save you time, but not heavily limit a F2P player from achieving the same things. Once Human is a good example of this.
Model 2: The game has MTXs that allow you to buy items which give colossal QoL, allowing a paying player to be far more efficient. -- This, to me, is harsher because it forces the F2P player to buy the MTXs or continue underperforming. A big difference with this model, though, is it changes based on whether the game is Buy to Play, Subscription, or Free to Play. Path of Exile is a good example of this model and you can think of the "buy-in" for stash tabs as a "box-cost", which before that you're simply demoing the F2P game before you decide to spend any money on it.
Model 3: The game has an MTX shop where you can buy materials for upgrading gear and/or trade IRL money for in-game money, allowing you to buy gear or upgrades. This often comes with the above 2 forms of P2W (Battlepass, Required items for QoL, etc.). Basically, full P2W. -- Games like this are not accepted in any form by America or by the average person in most countries. Examples of these games are Diablo Immortal and Lost Ark. Both games that have heavily fallen off, especially in the US.
Models 1 & 2 can be pushed, causing the player who simply wants to get the most out of the game to spend a larger amount, which has been happening for years. I think America is jaded because they see all of these truly P2W games (model 3) and see 1 & 2 as the lesser of both evils, so it's accepted. Companies keep pushing the line of models 1 & 2, leading to the predicament we're in now.
I will also mention that there's an additional and common model, along the lines of 1 & 2, where the game is early access/extra items/boosts/etc. and I think that falls right between "full P2W" and "QoL". You don't NEED to start a few days early, however FOMO and the ability to get a head start on the game's market will force players who want to be efficient to buy the upgraded version. I actually hate this model more than full P2W because it just seems less transparent in how detrimental it is (and I don't think the average player understands how much a few days' worth of head start can give you).

Well you said you only spent 20 bucks on another server so why are you now going to buy the founder pack if its not p2w or doesnt matter ? Are you donating money to save AGS ?
Makes sense to me, IMO it's a lose, lose situation trying to please everyone. They could take suggestions/ideas from people, let people vote on them to take the popular ideas/suggestions into consideration to make the game better. P2W in my simplest understanding is when players can gain significant advantages by spending real money.

Its temporary advantage. Literally a boost. You catch up in a week or two at most. You play the game for years. This p2w hysteria is annoying af

Yeah, I can’t really stand shroud anymore TimTheTatman or any big streamers. All they do is flaunt their money and make people feel bad about themselves.
the games don't win on people like shroud. they get a temporary boost of sales along with the audience that comes with them, shroud quits and most of his flunkies will quit too and shovel whatever he says back at him in a echo chamber. Look at Path of exile, Very minimal P2W with stash tabs being the only thing and those are on sale every other weekend for 5-10$.
@@jordanearl5449 it’s because these guys can’t handle grinding because it’s not lucrative for them. It would end their career if they stuck to one game. That’s why streamers constantly dabble in games and never fully commit unless it’s fps games where u can pick up and play right off the bat like apex or valorant as long as u had some experience

He's right. Every MMO that implemented pay to win don't last long. Players who stay are usually the whales that don't want to think they wasted their money on that game. P2W game devs don't care about players who don't spend money on their game
If you think it's unfair, don't play the game. There's a LOT of games there to play.

MMOs don't last long by design, because once you take a break from the game, it's hard to get back into it. Without resets the game will just inevitably bleed players without gaining any new ones. It has nothing to do with it being P2W.
@@1InVader1 Look at WoW. I am currently playing Albion Online. It gives a slight advantage for players who buys store currency but F2P players can grind their way to get anything. Been playing for 7 years, no resets. Just new and better content
