  • A new aviary showcase, however a little bit different than the other videos and not because the birds are hookbills (budgies and cockatiels) instead of finches but we will also give this aviary a little update/renovation. For those who watch my videos for a longer time maybe remember this aviary. In previous videos, I already showed this aviary multiple times.

    Hello. It looks great! I love the natural landscape. Parakeets are one of my favorites. The first are beautiful! It great that you gave them a good home. They will want to breed....lol! Take care!

      Thank you, ☺️ the owners put some nestboxes in last year but nothing happened. So it's just to give them a good home.

    You really do a fab job. I think some time ago I mentioned to you an amazing young fellow from the UK Oliver from OC aviary, just saw he is doing features on aviaries/bird keeoers/breeders from around the world. He should feature you..have a chat. You both do great shares with your passion and as I mentioned I've kept and bred birds since a young guy in Australia for probably 50 years now so love seeing your passion. Welcome AT...oops...TO Mr Aviary 🤗

    Lovely aviary!! I wish I could stay inside that aviary like a budgie☺️ By the way, why don't you plant some mint leaves on the raised bed? That's a great ground cover and all your birds will like to eat from it( I am doubtful if the quail like mint. Want the answer in the livestream)😉👍👋

      It was a big job for one day but we managed, both the owner and the birds love it. Mint grows very slowly most of the year. The birds will destroy it in couple of days.

    Hey just wondering , I've heard that cockatiels don't go well with budgies, I'm curious if this is true as I'm planning on getting a pair soon and if they can go into the aviary with the budgies it would be much better as my second aviary is full of love birds.

      It differs between breeders. Some breeders do have problems, in this aviary there is never been a problem however they are not actively Breeding them.

    Love you videos, just the nitty gritty of rebuilding the aviary! So my questions are, the hardware cloth, is it stainless steel or hot dipped galvanized? And what branches are those that the cockatiel has taken a liking too? Thanks!

    • @MrAviary
      @MrAviary  Před 2 lety

      Thanks, it's stainless steel and birch branches, they love it. They chew trough thick branches and keeps them of the mesh.

    I’m surprised you have button quail with parakeets given parakeets tendencies to be violent and territorial. Have you experienced any issues?

    • @MrAviary
      @MrAviary  Před 2 lety

      Well they are not mine, however I know they never had problems. Some budgies even slept with the quails together.

    Are them cockatiels cold hardy ?

    • @MrAviary
      @MrAviary  Před 2 lety +1

      They stay outside whole year round with temperatures till -10C however they need a dry, draught free place and if it gets colder maybe even heated.
