Fall 2023, we bought enough wool blankets, gloves, hats, thermal socks and emergency blankets for 30 people.
At that time, Chillicothe, Ohio was getting a new homeless shelter.
30 was what we could afford.
We cannot stand the thought of people being cold.
    We donated what we bought.
The shelter also acts as a clearing house for items in case it becomes full.
We are continuing to stock for our own family.
This fall we are thinking about buying bulk coats for men, women and children, donating them.
The homeless population in Chillicothe, and surrounding areas, is off the charts.
People with three jobs living in their cars.
    Some with children.
If you have a little extra, please keep these poor souls in mind.
I never thought I would see this much homelessness in Ohio.
    It’s heartbreaking.
    Completely unnecessary in this country.
    The majority are not addicts.
    On a side note.
More than a few are losing their housing to unwelcome visitors.

Stock up on toilet paper, toilet paper runs out. Get a book on plants indigenous to your area. Don't want to wipe with something that may cause irritation to your backside, great at the same time you don't want to be wiping your backside with a potential food source either. Knowledge is empowering in preparedness. An itchy but and hunger will make it difficult to having the ability to make good decisions. Don't forget to stock up on knowledge.

Congratulations on your "9 months".😃 Keep building on that 9 month's worth. If you're like me, you don't/wouldn't have the $$'s to build 7 storage facilities let alone houses. Create a garden area to supplement your stored goods. Check into getting and keeping several chickens(if feasible) Meat and egg source. I solved that "not enough room" by going UPWARDS as in: Shelves running the length of the upper walls in the hallway. Ignore the ones who are bashing you on the head. Apparently, they didn't notice that you're up to "9 months" and were just asking an honest question.🙂 Sounds like frustration is getting to you.. Don't let it.

A couple variations of seasoning can change a basic dish to break up monotony. Mix a jar of salsa, a chopped up onion, and curry powder together and pour over chicken that is placed in a crock pot. Then make your side of rice for later and you have a chicken curry meal. Another option is adding paprika to the salsa and chopped onion and place that mixture over your chicken that is in the crock pot for a chicken paprika dish that is served over prepared noodles.

There are only a few things I am able to do to be ready where I live in the situation I`m in here in Louisiana: Stay as fully prepared for our weather which is a very real threat here all year, all the time, so I have solar for everything and a tiny backup generator for recharging, try my best to grow fresh food like peas, greens, herbs, fruits, berries, tubers and vegetables, store a large supply of staples in a safe place, and make sure I have backups, water storage, filters, working quality radio receivers and tools, seeds and gardening supplies I may need. My latest tool is a black light UV flashlight to find tomato horn worms fast before the plants vanish.
I typically don`t use pesticides but I had to use a small amount of my 4 lb bag of garden dust on almost everything yesterday because of some sort of invasive tiny worms that eat every plant they see. I used very little in a spice shaker...just enough to end the worms before my garden was completely devoured. Tonight my large caliber breakbarrels and I are on armadillo guard duty...waiting for the alarms to ring...because they`ll wipe out my melon and squash mounds if I don`t.

These two have never even grown a tomato so intelligence, boundaries, privacy, prepping and common sense are freakish and insane concepts to them. @@KarenAnn-dm4ks Karen Ann I recommend that you reach out to the prepper community in your area for a possible solution. Good Christian people of a like mind will go to lengths to help their brothers and sisters, I suggest you discuss an arrangement where you exchange your heavy canned goods for freeze dried or dehydrated supplies that are much easier to move and store. I see it as a win win. I prepare in a full spectrum of supplies for various reasons ex. canned goods are too heavy to bug out with so I also have freeze dried. I am not 100% sure about the best way to find other communitity groups but I'm sure that The Prepared Homestead with Travis has a search /reach out method available. Another possible opportunity to find others may be with Chris over at City Prepping. I wish you the best with your move and preparations and remember to plan with lighter options in case it happens again! Choose life straws (portable water filtration device) over stored water for example.

Can't wait for your carnivore channel, Steve and Kelly. I like the grass fed, grain finished beef we have been buying for about a year and a half. Grass finished tastes different I understand and some just don't care for it. I have beef liver because it's free when we buy our cow, but don't like it. I never ate beef liver during my childhood, though my mom fried up chicken livers and they weren't terrible. My husband has nightmares about liver from his childhood, LOL. I use the liver we have, keep it frozen, to shave off slivers when a chicken of mine has a leg injury and needs a big blast of B vitamins, as long as they don't get too much (iron isn't good for chickens). As for channels, I used to watch Joe Fox here and there years ago. I used to watch Pinball, but for personal reasons, I unsubbed that channel. Actually, I have a lot of "used to watch" channels. I don't want to get caught in a trap of watching other folks instead of living my life, though I do make time for a few regular channels. I don't use a cellphone for viewing anything so I can't carry CZcams with me to the garden or the barn, have to sit in front of a laptop. Actually, we won't ever be moving in closer to anything, though some may choose to do so. I have always preferred less populated places, even before the world really caught on fire. If I did move, it would likely be in a slightly more remote area. I like my quiet and sounds of nature, as you know, prefer to choose when to interact with people in person instead of some neighbor always watching what I do and waving hello all the time. Yeah, so sue me, I'm very selectively social. 🤷But hey, we don't want folks romanticizing country or mountain living and flooding up here because, already, traffic in this area has tripled in the last decade so I surely *hope* others like living in the 'burbs 😂! In summary, yes, GET MORE is the way you prepare. We stock meats more than other things, canned and otherwise, can those peas every year and they last for years if properly canned. Going to pick up our half cow a week from today, actually. ~C

Coat a beef liver with flour and brown in some lard. Remove from pot and brown some chopped onions, put liver back in, add some water to cover and seasonings and maybe more chopped onions and garlic, and simmer until tender. Gravy will form. Serve over rice or chill and slice for sandwiches. It tastes good to me chilled.
