Great ride!Back in the day,my late father came home with a Black Shadow he purchased from an RAF Pilot.I remember as a young boy staring at this behemoth parked out back!and the noise !!nothing like it!today,I ride a Harley and a Suzuki sv650s,both V twins and I'm 70! Guess the V twin magic rubbed off on me all those years ago!!
So cool. Watching the Smiths ticking, the forks compress under acceleration, lanesplitting a Vincent. One of my daily rides is a 1969 XLCH magneto Sportster. Fat HDs and sportbikes can't keep up when I lane split traffic. Some of these old machines are just as capable today as when they were first manufactured.
Just freakin awesome! My old R50/2 is very very tame compared to your Shadow. Would love to go for a cruise with you one day, think I'll rather ride my SXZ Katana then. The Vincent, especially the Black Shadow, must have been an eye opener compared to the then Brit 650 twins. Cheers, and post more videos please!
It is. The motor is very robust with lots of cooling and plenty on oil for added cooling. The original crankshaft is the only weakness with lots and lots of roller bearings packed in around the crankpin. This crank is of the modern type which handles higher rpm better.
Very nice Phil! I would be a bit wary overtaking on the inside with some of those drivers, they did not seem to know what they were doing, especially the pick up truck in the fast lane, very nice ride! Stay safe! Chris B.
That is true. The problem here is he will stay in the fast lane untill kingdom come. We have evolved with this type of driving and overtake on either side. Not ideal but it prevents the frustration of not getting ahead.
my screensaver8s a pic of a pair of godet vincents, i wonder how you have the steering damper set, ive ordered a friction damper like this for my enfield, i think i should have gone all out when these were 10k pounds, please post m9re vids, thanks
I have the damper set loose. For added safety I added a modern GPR hydraulic damper. The reason for above is because I suffered a tank slapper that caused me to crash at 100km/h.
Ha ha Doug, how many Harley riders have you scared with your Vincent? Must say when the super bikes come past me at times and catches me unawares I almost need a Psychiatrist myself...
We were down in Wales at the weekend, driving down to Llangollen and two big Vinnys came by! made my day!!!
Phil!! Lucky guy!!!
Awesome.
Great to ride out with you again thanks phil...😊 ❤
Any time!

Nice story. V twins are special.
Could listen to that all day. except when the sound stopped right on the tonne. Still got a thumbs up
Me too. Some people will need a break from the exhaust sounds, so a couple of seconds silence.

This is the perfect road for an old Vincent, nice and smooth.
That sound 💪🏍️💨💨💨 ❤ your Vincent
Thanks.

Will do. Sometimes riding a plodder can be most enjoyable.
Amazing that you can basically cruise at 70-90 mph with that bike

Awesome Ride Phil - Im jealous of your roads down in CT!
We are lucky. You must ride in the Eastern Transvaal.

Just wondering why you had to make such a wide turn to take the corner towards the end of the video. Is the Vincent not able to make sharper turns?
It can make sharper turns. I was a bit slow to turn in.

You really HAVE TO stop scaring the brave Harley riders…. There are only so many Psychiatrists that can handle their trauma…. Bike is sounding good…..
