  • The wonderful tollway system in our charming state inspired me to write this song. I'm singing this at the Masthouse Singalong in Woodstock, IL, September of 2009. Videography and editing by David Warmann.

Mark, I have seen people in front of me at the tollway scouring for the 2.80 in change that they need, do not have it, so I get out of my vehicle, give them the change they need, only to find that now I do not have enough for the toll booth. The system can take debit cards and install a dollar bill changer if they choose, but the privatized system would rather set us up for failure. They make more money with the fines and this is a great way to keep us chained to the government of Illinois.

I would love to write a couple of more versus to this song. That toll I blew cause I didn't have enough change cost me twenty bucks because I forgot to go on line and pay it or I gave my paycheck to the Illinois Tollway system. Loved the song!

Thanks, Deborahmarie1217, for your compliments. Glad you liked the song! Perhaps I should invade the next meeting of the tollway board and serenade them with it.

I may not get a full two minutes, Mike. After the first verse, they might waste no time in showing me the door.
