Its pronunced as "moh-chee" mochi and "ooh-bay" ube ;D Saw sum comments saying she said it wrong but not helping her learn!! Thanks for the great videos, Rach!!
Was coming here to say this as well.
@@user-ts7pm7if2i Same âșïž
Actually itâs pronounced âoo-behâ :)
Watermelon and feta are *excellent* together -- either basil or mint is great in the herb spot. I don't grill mine ( no grill), but a salad with watermelon, feta, basil, olive oil, baslamic, and pine nuts is maybe my favorite summertime meal. Watermelon is also great with some oil and chili powder or red pepper and salt. There are a lot of great global ways of treating watermelong that make it so, so awesome.
Mint > basil, but yes, always a tasty combo with feta and watermelon!
Watermelon, feta, mint or basil and Tajin. So good. As they were eating it I was thinking it would be better in salad form. Could still grill it but then slice up the watermelon and put it in a bowl.
Just salt on the watermelon. It is my momâs family way of eating it
Grilled peaches with herbed goat cheese and a drizzle of honey if my favorite summer food, watermelon would likely be a good substitute for peaches đ
I am greek, and watermelon with feta cheese and bread is a summer classic over heređ
Same as in Egypt!
Iâm totally here for your strangely Canadian pronunciation of mochi. đ Your watermelon đ was at peak ripeness. I just bought a total dud at the store đđđ
Itâs not a Canadian thing itâs a her thing hahahaha itâs funny tho
I was thinking the same thing about how she pronounces mochiâŠIâm completely OK with itâŠI may pronounce it muchi from now on!
definitely not a canadian thing đ
Umm definitely not a Canadian thing. I mean Iâm Canadian too & I donât pronounce ube or mochi that way. Itâs a Rachel thing lol đ
@@princesstruc2005 same lol
For the peach recipe, since you can't get Fresh try frozen, you may need to play with whether or not to defrost. As for favorite recipes, Watermelon Feta Salad. Bite size watermelon crumbled feta, mint, lime juice, olive oil, and salt. Or Cucumber Tomato salad. Base is thinly sliced cucumber and chunks of tomato tossed in Apple Cider vinegar, rice vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil with salt and pepper to taste. Can be dressed up with fresh or dried dill, basil, and parsley (or any combination of those) thinly sliced or chopped red onion can also be added.
One of my favourite summer recipes is a watermelon and strawberry salad. đđ I cube the watermelon (about 1" cubes), cut the strawberries in half or quarters (depending on how big they are!), add some fresh mint (finely chopped), and squeeze a lime over top. Sometimes I add a bit of lime zest, too. It's SO refreshing! (and the juice that's left in the bottom is also delicious!!)
ok that sounds so good, i'm def trying it out!
Seems like a lot of work! But Chrisâs drink idea with the gin sounds wonderful and fairly easy. Gin float topped with Prosecco as the âsyrupâ! Yum
That drink reminds me of sherbet punch. This was something that was made during my childhood for church teas and wedding receptions. It's just sherbet in lemon-lime soda (like 7Up or Sprite). It would be made in a punch bowl by unwrapping a rectangular half gallon of sherbet, putting it in the punch bowl, and pouring the lemon-lime soda over it. Sometimes some scoops of sherbet would be floated in the bowl to make it pretty. The sherbet would gradually melt into the soda, making a wonderful, foamy, refreshing drink. I know, I know, this is very midwestern.
I know, I know, and I totally grew up with it too! Wedding receptions, graduation parties, anniversary parties for grandparents, all of them!
Admit it, we wear our midwestern-ness on our sleeves and put it on our tables.
Yes, from Texas here but we always made it with ginger ale and sherbet. One of my favorites đ
Sprite/7up sounds delicious too. Always wanted to play around with flavors, like the raspberry lime or orange and cream soda
Iâm Canadian and remember this from the late 70âs early 80âs. I had forgot all about it so thank you for the memories! âșïž
It's a summer staple here in Egypt to have Salty cheese, bread with watermelon hehe â€ïžâ€ïž
Yes definitely đŻ
The way you pronounce Ube, Mochi and mochiko is adorable girl!!! âșïžđđŒ Back at home (Hawaii) I would alwayss get anything and everything ubeđ€€đ€€đ€€ And I loveee mochiiiiiđ€€đ€€đ€€đ€€ And mochiko chicken!! â€
GET IT GIRLLLL!!!
@ankaMynx It's been a while since I had mochiko chicken, but I miss it! Hopefully, you'll enjoy it too when you try it đ đ đđŒ
Mochi is more like moe-chee
Also never saw it cut so thick
Drink looks delish but isnât a mimosa orange juice and champagne
Try the peach pastry again with frozen thawed peaches! Thats what I use when I make stone fruit & berry galettes... works beautifully. Also, highly recommend a peach blackberry galette as a summer recipe!
I recently discovered the soften/melt menu on my microwave, and I use it for ice cream and butter non stop lol
Try grilling avocado slices. Finish them with a little salt and they are delicious. Definitely my favorite summer food.
Thank you for creating content. Itâs a great way to zone out and feel like Iâm with friends that I know and weâre trying things. But Iâm just watching you do all the fun viral videos lol đ†keep up the creativity please đ
The way Rachel says Mochi and Mochiko is adorable đ
We have ice cream in the U.S. with Pop Rocks in them already. Itâs called âFireworks Ice Creamâ. It tastes awesome. Love your videos and Christopherâs shirts are always on point.
That sounds awesome! I've never seen it!
I'm sad the deliciousness you Americans have for ice cream
Where?
@@Tina-xf5sv Stewartâs makes it, but during the 4th of July a lot of the Mom & Pop ice cream shops have it. At least in Wisconsin they do. đ
I wonder if the peach pastries would have come out better if you'd dried the peaches overnight on a paper towel lined baking sheet (kinda how you do with eggplant for eggplant parm). You might even try salting them a little. That might be a really nice contrast with the sweet honey đ
For the mochi, it might be easier to scoop the ice cream into balls on a lined parchment tray then freeze it prior to wrapping it in the mochi wrapper. Also, kneading the mochi flour in a bowl until itâs elastic will at least help with the messiness of everything.
My favorite is Jian Dui or red bean fried mochi dough (itâs chinese) but for summer chai ice cream is really good
Can peaches donât work the best because of the water ratio. But you might make peach turnovers and it would work.
I love watching this video and thanks for the other recipes listed below!
Jian Dui (Red Bean Fried Sesame Balls)
(16) Sesame Balls Recipe (Chinese Dessert Jian Dui / Goma Dango) | Cooking with Dog - CZcams
1 cup (50g) Mochiko, sticky or sweet rice flour

(1 cup )/ 1 can (50g) Anko, sweet red bean paste
White Sesame Seeds
Frying Oil
Add sticky rice flour and sugar in a bowl, make a circle in bowl, add boiling water, shape into dough, let rest for 5-10 minutes until can handle it, roll flat, add red bean paste in middle enclose, like dumpling, seal tight, roll in sesame seeds, keep covered. Repeat until all the dough is used. Start fry peanut oil (or vegetable), fry dough balls, stirring and flipping them, remove and place on wire rack with paper towel or paper towel plate.
Here is the recipe
Ah your pronunciation was cute đ€ but the "mo" part in mochi sounds more similar to the "mo" in 'more'! And ube is like "oooo-bay"!
Love it as always! You know, if you get fresh plums, I'd try that tart again with a fresh plum. They've got a similar texture to peaches, and shouldn't leave the pastry as soggy as the canned peaches did.
I was wondering if frozen peaches are available, they might be slightly less watery compared to canned.
i was wondering if it would work with apples or even fresh berries
My husband always microwaves his ice cream! He always shivers after he eats it and I tease him that he didn't get it hot enough.
I can only think of matcha tea when you say matchi... I think it's mo-chi. Looks delicious!
Hersheys has white chocolate bars with pop rocks in it theyâre red white and blue for 4th of July.
They also make chocolate oranges with poprocks in them. I was pleasantly surprised
I hunt for those every year when they come out. The pop rock chocolate oranges are my fav!
My favorite!
One of my favourite summer foods: Strawberry and watermelon salad with chopped mint leaves. Don't eat too much of the leaves, they just need to release mint flavour into the fruit juice.
I also love falafel with loads of salad and yoghurt mint sauce.
Both of your suggestions sound delicious! Falafel is so good!
It was actually, fun to see recipes that didn't work out. So many of them don't work when they are tried at home.
Cutting the watermelon up after you grill it and chill it with the toppings into like a salad would be good too!
Your videos always make my dayâ€
Yessss early for once love you Rachel â€â€â€ I would love to see trying summer drinks đč
Watermelon & feta salad is a summer staple for me! Not grilled though, that's good too but not on a regular basis. Add some fresh mint, some olive oil, salt, and a bit of balsamic vinegar or lemon juice. SO good!!
That Ice cream is giving Baskins Robbins shooting star vibes
Mow-chee đ and Ube ice cream is AMAZING â€
Also, that watermelon is the most beautiful colour đ
If you try the peach tarts again, when you drizzle the honey use a butter knife. Just dip it in and it's much easier to drizzle lightly.
She goes out of focus and the big white bowl is in focusđ. Love your videos â€
Omg I commented too fastđ. She just mentioned it
I freaking just love you Rach†you make my year. Watching from the U.K â€â€â€â€
We get peaches delivered in the summer by the peach truck. So fresh and makes the most amazing peach tartsâ€ïž
My favorite summer recipe is fruit ambrosia. There's a zillion different versions, but the one I make it:
1 package of orange Jell-O
8-oz can of crushed pineapple, drained
2 cups of shredded coconut (either sweetened or unsweetened depending on your preferences)
2 cups of mini marshmallows
8-oz tub of Cool Whip (store brand is fine)
11-oz can of mandarin oranges, drained
Prepare the Jell-O per the instructions on the package. Once it's set up, scoop it into a large bowl, and scramble the Jell-O slightly with a spoon or rubber spatula. Stir in the pineapple and coconut until evenly blended. Gently stir in the marshmallows. Fold in the Cool Whip, and then even-more-gently fold in the mandarin oranges (trying not to break them up too much). Scoop the whole mess into your desired serving bowl and chill for at least an hour before serving. (Sometimes I just more pineapple and oranges because I love them, and sometimes I use different flavors of Jello and use other fruits as well like diced strawberries.)
Baskin Robbins in South Korea has an ice cream with pop rocks in them! I was so pleasantly surprised as a kid and always wondered why we didnât have the same flavor back home lol
Years ago, we ordered lunch from a new (to us) Asian restaurant. I wanted Bobba tea as they had many flavors. As we phoned in our order, they kept saying they were out of whatever flavor I requested. Finally, I asked what they had and they said ube. None of us had ever heard of it so I asked what that was. They said sweet potato and we were completely confused. I am fairly adventurous so I ordered it. It was definitely different.
Just sat down with my lunch, couldn't have had better timing!
This is my comfort channel.
For the pastrie try apples instead of peaches, it will work amazing. And for the grilled watermellon. Cut it into peaces onces grilled and place in a bowl with all the ingredients you used plus prosciutto snd make it into salad. We used this tons in the middle east. It is yum.
Iâm loving all the Friends references â€đ
We donât have much of a peach season where I live either, so I order a case of them every summer from a farm in Georgia (where they do have wonderful peaches). If you like/love peaches like I do, you might want to look into something similar.
An ice cream place called Brusters used to have a cotton candy ice cream that had pop rocks in it. So good â€.
We need a breakdown of Chris's drink recipe lol I would definitely try it.
Since you have the ube ice cream (btw, VERY jealous of that, haven't had any since I was 13 and was in the Philippines, and I'm in my early 30s now) I so want you to try making a Filipino dessert called the halo-halo. I think you'd have fun assembling it and looking at all the pretty pictures.
If you're in an area with Trader Joe's they sell some. Not sure if it's seasonal
@@Heyfa Ah, I'm Swedish, so I don't think there's any Trader Joe's anywhere close to me.
i love your videos
Fun video!!
Can we have a video where you compare recipes to Chris's elaboration on said recipe? I am always like doooooo iiiittt!! đ
Watching this snuggled under a blanket during in (australian) winter with a bowl of ice cream to feel summery đ
We have grilled watermelon all the time here in Michigan. Great stuff!
I made peach cobbler one time with fresh peaches and it tasted the same as canned so I bet the canned peaches will be just as good!
I love that girl but hearing her mispronounce mochi and ube was killing me! đ
Haha same
Yesssss hahahahaha
Came to the comments to see if anyone else was struggling đ€Łđ
Matchie!!! đ
Same!
For the watermelon, grill and chill it then chop it and make a salad with all the ingredients you used. It'd be easier to eat. đ
The pastry, buy frozen peaches. Use 1/2 the amount of peaches, use less honey, add a small slice of brie or blue cheese then put the pastry dough on top.
You will LOVE it!!
Been making this watermelon for years but I cut mine up and serve it like a salad much easier to eat. I take it to parties and such people love it. And yes much better chilled
the watermelon is an awsome salad (also with feta) its amazing for summer
Balsamic and feta GRILLED GRAPES are to die for!! You need to try those!!
The pastry you can also do with Apples or Pears. Maybe add a pinch of cinnamon on the apples.
Can you do a video with updates on all the products you liked when you first tried them? The creami comes to mind, but there have been lots!
Watermelon, mint, red onion, feta. Make that into a salad. Delicious. Let that meddle together. Oh and fresh black pepper.
For the peach pastry I think you could still use canned peaches just cut them more thinly like in the TikTok
I'm Turkish and eating watermelon with feta is a staple of summer! So delicious!!
They used to have a pop rocks blizzard when I was a teen and it was grape flavor and it was soooo good
A symphony of pop rocks in my sink is my band name đ
Grilled watermelon with Tahini sprinkled on it while grilling...yummy. or grilled watermelon with maple syrup and a dash of cayenne and chili powder.
I buy cotton candy ice cream with pop rocks in it all the time. Itâs delicious!
we have gotten chocolate bars and oreos with pop rocks in them, excited to try the pop
rocks with ice cream. for the prosecco drink, i grew up in the south, so we did lime sherbert with sprite (pretty similar) for weddings/baby showers lol. i actually loved it growing up!
Deffo going to try the grilled watermelon đ with the feta.
Fresh salmon, I usally use a whole side with skin on. Cover the side with no skin with lime juice (freshly pressed with the pulp!), crushed black pepper and grated lime peels. Grill under cover on low heat so you do it not to fast and just enough so you think the fish is done. Take fresh new potato (the small ones typical for early summer right from the field that you don't need to peel). Put in aluminium foil with salt, pepper, butter, garlic and dill and put it in the embers to cook under the fish. Serve with a sauce made from creamfraiche (or youghurt) with a lot of lime and honey. That's one of my favorite summer foods :-)
Feta Balsamic Watermelon and Mint is a REALLY good snack
LOVE grilled watermelon
What about frozen peaches that are thawed? Think that would work?
Love your videos!
I ran into a recipe last summer that any time we fired up the grill we made sure we had grapes on hand to toss on the grill. They are amazing! I think they originally were a garnish for a cheese plate I was doing. Obviously mixed with cheese and all the fun of a charcuterie would make a better video but don't save the trick for just that. Toss those babies on any time you can.
Such an interesting suggestion! Would they need to be those big globe grapes or can you use smaller grapes on a pan on the grill? It seems like red grapes would be tastier than green (but honestly that's my preference, anyway). Which works best in your opinion?
@@susanjeffries5108 we used big ones directly on the grill but smaller ones should work with a grill pan.
We need another video of Chris making the recipes but betterđ
I need you to try the viral cottage cheese ice cream hack! Please!
I recently had a pop rocks Jell-O shot. I typically donât do Jell-O shots anymore now that Iâm in my thirties, but it was intriguing and actually really good! Itâs was blue razz of course! đ
Love your videos! Not sure if this is technically a summer recipe but I love sour patch grapes! It's just grapes, I like the green ones the best for this, and roll them in dry jello. Supposed to use the jolly rancher flavored jello(sour apple, watermelon) but I haven't been able to find it lately, so I just use cherry, watermelon, peach, whatever sounds good. That's it roll them in the jello powder and put them in the fridge if you want them cold. I usually don't wait that long! Lol So simple, but so good! Hope you like them!
You should try the peach thing with apples! đ
In Bulgaria we eat watermelon with cheese, no grill, no herbs, and its a cult classic â€
Yay! Rach entering her Filipino food era.
Oh, and its pronounced "Oo-beh" and Moe-chi /moe-chico flour đ i gotchu bestieâ€
Frozen peaches instead of canned.
Sorbet and fizzy drink was definitely just an adult version of the classic sherbert and fizzy drink we always served at parties as a kid
I was beginning to wonder if there was a video today!
was having technical difficulties lol
Now I want watermelon and feta. Yumm
The signature flavour for Baskin Robbins Korea is actually poproocks đ
David Seymour did a bunch of the pastry things, and he did a savoury version with pepperoni, pizza sauce, and mozzarella under the pastry. Then he did a mock beef Wellington. They looked amazing.
SELECTA YESSSSS.
I've never had grilled watermelon but i have had grilled peaches and pineapple.
Try one of the at home Icee makers. A great summer treat. đ„€
Probably wont get an answer but every summer we make watermelon salade and everyone here goes feral for it. Throw warermelon, feta, arugula and red onion in a big bowl, drizzle some olive oil on top of it and some salt and pepper (everything is messured by tasted). You can also throw some toasted pine nuts on top of it, but it is optional. It's so refreshing and delicious. Highly recommend
To dry out your canned peaches, put in the fridge for a while to make less soggy.
I remember my boys having pop rocks when they had braces! It was shocking!!! đ€Ł
In argentina we have lemon ice cream with champagne and call it lemon champ. Itâs more like a desert
You should do a video trying a bunch of Midwestern "salads"
I think I'll try the champagne/sorbet once I give birth this summerđđ it looks great
Itâs just like pizza on the grill and pineapple grilled . I like the watermelon grilled.
Try using sliced fresh apples for the pastry! I sprinkle a little cinnamon and sugar over the honey before placing the apples. Or toss the apples with cinnamon sugar then place them. They are DELICIOUS!!!
