I am a 78 year old that is avoiding the garbage on TV/Cable/MSM with regard to poor programming and out-right nasty politics! I am now surfing for good music and have found it in Mark and other great musicians! Makes my car rides lively and at night with my headphones and foot stomping!!

The song Cannibals itself already is great but the instrumental bit they played at the beginning of this is absolutely beautiful.

I listened to cannibals while I was walking today and stopped in the middle of the road and danced to the whole thing it's such a happy song!
I think it is actually really sad. It is about the loss of a man's role in the world, no more reason to live. No more dragons to kill, no more damsels to be rescued; once upon a time there were cannibals, there are no cannibals any more.

The band in backing him is not Dire Straits. Dire Straits was disbanded by Knopfler in 1995.
I am a huge Knopfler fan but I am also amazed by the drummer. I’ve watched many performances and am constantly impressed by the drum work

That's not right, he says in Stuttgart Schleyerhalle at 2019 live, I am Tired but You will see and here me, so what can I do, I will play for you live (he will never give a long tour, he will play in England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, but not world tours, he makes now a new album, that come at 2023, and he will play a small tour live!! So the last words from Mark (always he was not sick and or other stuff, he will go on live gigs!!

As if I couldn't love "Cannibals" more than I already did... this might be my favourite footage of a live jam. Mark Knopfler is one of the most gifted musicians of his generation, and he surrounded himself with equally talented players to play one of his best songs. I'm almost embarrassed to even talk about it in a comment, how good this sounds.

I don't understand why the best songs end with the best parts. In my opinion, the song should last at least 10 minutes. The piano man is awesome. O my God, everyone is awesome!!!

I've been watching the MK 'official documentaries' and sort of zoned out. Just before this video started, I was thinking 'What would be better than Mark Knopfler at Jazz Fest? Mark Knopfler AND Sonny Landreth.' Then I heard Sonny's distinctive tone at the beginning of this clip... Heaven.
Absolutely love how Mark gets closer to Sonny at 1:43 and just listens to his magic for a while and then at 1:53 he just signals to the band that lets jam for a while❤

I’m 61 and first heard Sultans of Swing on the radio over 40 years ago and Iv listened to Dire Straits and Mark Knophler everyday since he is a good Glasgow guy where he was born all the good things come from Scotland he is unique a very special talent and so humble I love everything he has done ❤

I was having some demos done in Nashville around 2012 or so. The studio books the band based on who’s available. The drummer wasn’t late but he was the last to arrive. He sits down beside me and says, “Hi, I’m Chad Cromwell.” Ummmmm….lol
