Parish said 5000 his points come from Larry. They jumped because he was a dead eye shooter. He was a team player. He was happiest he said when the ball was moving. His court vision was unreal. Watching it when he was happening was amazing.he always knew where all of his teammates were. He said he watched film of his team mates to see how and where they liked the ball. By the way Bird gave lebron his flowers allstar weekend this year and also said he would love to play joker. You got to see 4 crazy stories that prove Larry bird toughest nba player. Share your knowledge with your friends. ❤thanks for great reactions

Larry is and was absolutely amazing to watch. I grew up in SoCal, and basketball was a family thing to watch together. I remember being very upset, when I found out that Bird wasn’t on our team. I told my Dad, “ but he’s so fun to watch play, and I want him on our team!” He just chuckled, and said a lot of people felt like that. I enjoy your reactions. If you haven’t yet, you should watch Larry Bird trash talking.

Birds BB IQ & court vision was just amazing!!! He had the best eye hand coordination I've ever seen! He was great at reading the opponents moves... he anticipated them. I know it's been said before but I do agree with it..... Larry Bird was playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers!

I really like your reactions to Larry's videos. One funny thing; you were saying, "don't jump!" when some of Larry's defenders were on him. Thing is, Larry could adjust to any situation in a split second. If they DIDN'T jump, he'd make them pay. If they DID jump, he'd still make them pay. Larry could do EVERYTHING, and that's what made him dangerous and a legend.

  • @Alice-xy3fi
    @Alice-xy3fi Před 2 měsíci +5

Thanks for the very attentive, enthusiastic and appreciative reaction!
As you implied, his teammates working the great way they did was a function of playing with Bird. His game transformed the entire interaction. McHale, for example, talked about Bird's showing and then telling him, "You just get open-- I'll get the ball in your hands" -- or something to that effect (I may not be remembering the exact quote, but that was the gist; McHale said it in the context of talking about Bird's spin pass to him, that jumped right into his hands).
Also, you kept second guessing the defenders, saying "Why are they jumping, they shouldn't be jumping so much." If they don't jump, it's 100% he'll shoot over them. Because he was such a threat as a passer AND a shooter, they were screwed if they jumped, screwed if they didn't. So...what would you do, if you were playing Bird?
In fact, that was my reaction most, if not all, the times you were chastising those who were trying to stop Bird's moves-- what would you do in their position? In every instance, it seems to me, if they'd followed your suggestion, Bird would have used it against them. I don't know if you've yet reacted to the video in which Worthy spells this out by quoting Bird's telling him, "If you do this, I'll score by doing that; if you do that, I'll get around you this way, and score; and if you don't do either of those things but try this third thing, I'll make this other move and score right in your face."
And, as Worthy frustratedly said, he would always back it up, no matter what the defender did.
Last, LeBron has credited Bird with expanding his view of what could be possible in playing his position, and named Bird first when asked for his three top players of all time, speaking of the completeness of Bird's game.
One suggestion: I hope you might consider making yourself the inset as many other reactors do, reserving the full screen for the subject of your reaction. Esp. with sports, it makes more sense, imho, and is easier and more enjoyable to avoid missing any of the action, when the whole team isn't the size of the reactor's head. Not that you're not lookin' good, but you're not running and jumping around and pulling all kinds of smooth moves around a bunch of other running, jumping and passing guys.
p.s. Larry's game isn't the only mind-blowing, super-human thing about him. At some point I really hope you'll react to "Five Times Larry Bird was Injured and Refused to Quit," which will, I'm predicting, open a whole other angle of admiration/amazement/being impressed by him.

Larry told his team, if you get open, I'll get you the ball. He made his team better. There were so many times when LB probably could have made the shot, but he dished it to someone who had better position. Even when he wasn't having a good shooting game, he got the ball to the guys who were. It wasn't about stats, it was about wins.
They jumped because of how good his shooting was. If they didn't jump, he'd just take the shot. That's why guys were falling to his fakes, too. If they didn't commit, he'd just go around them. On a lot of these, he'd start out looking to take the shot and in the slit second it took to realize he didn't have the angle, he's switch to a pass and send it. Bird wasn't fast, but he was quick. The outlet passes are right in stride, too.

The show time lakers were a close second. but that Bird team was a HIVE MIND.. and you will hear BOTH his teamates AND opponents say that the Celtics play was ALL DUE TO BIRD.. HE made that team like that.. HE was the leader.. HE huslted, was intelligent, moved without the ball, was unselfish had court vision and ALL of his teamates followed suit cuz when your LEADER does it ALL well, your ENTIRE TEAM is going to fall in line as well.

Bird recently said the difference in pay back then for averaging 14 ppg and 17 ppg was a really big difference, so if he could get his teammates the ball a couple more times a game they would play and practice harder. There are many aspects of his leadership on the team. That's one that not many think about.

Bron? lol you guys kill me with that.
lebron is currently averaging .7 blocks for HIS CAREER.. BOTH Michael Jordan AND Larry Bird averaged MORE AT .8.. LOL not much of a difference, but it shows that Lebron DOESNT GENERATE blocks any more than Jordan and Bird were.. But players Like Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwan and KaREEM, (all players that faced Larry Bird and his team) ALL AVERGED OVER 4 blocks PER GAME in some seasons, they ALL average over 2.5 blocks a game for their careers. and Mark Eaton, who also played in that era, averaged 5.6 blocks per game in one season.. Lebron has NEVER averaged more than 1.1 blocks in any season.. so STATISTICALLY speaking, lebron WOULD NOT be blocking those shots with ANY consistency..

They jump because they had to respect his up-fake. Otherwise he'd simply shoot it over their heads.
So you have to pick your poison.
There's a story that Jason Williams explains what it was like to guard Larry bird.
1st possesion: Larry up-fakes, and Jason jumps clear across his head. - "Stupid Rookie" Larry bird sais as he shoots and makes it.
2nd possesion: Jason decides he's not going to jump this time. - Larry laughs hysterically and sais: "You're not going to jump against the Bird-man?" and hits a 3.
3rd Possesion: Jason doesn't know what to do now and is stuck between half jumping and half not, looking like a dang ourangutan. - Bird up-fakes, cosses over and hits another one.
Jason at this point is questioning his life decisions and sais "I bet you can't take me in the post!"
Larry shouts "Post me up! 5 Down!", catches the ball , pump-fakes, goes around Jason and dunks on him.
This was an old and injured Larry at the end of his career with a back so bad he had to wear a fiber-glass full-back brace to even play.
