- In this video I unbox and play my first ever acoustic guitar! Though I've been playing electric guitar for over 3 years now, I have never played acoustic guitar so I wanted to share the experience with all of you :).

@@lEg0l4z I think that's intermediate
@@akselikoskinen2890 I don't think so, I was able to play it while I was mainly a drummer and just knew really few things about guitars (open chords and power chords) and I barely consider myself intermediate now, that I mastered the guitar a lot more. Power chords are really easy to learn, and that song is just 4 power chords and two spare notes xD

Followed by an Em, then a C then a D...
Mine was a D
@@mellowgeekstudio than you're playing last kids
@@torrinstaplesmusic6142 Cool! I was actually thinking of Earth Angel and D'yer M'ker transposed to the key of G. I haven't realized Pearl Jam also used that 50's progression, and originally in my favorite key! I used to love this tune in the 90s. Gonna play it right now and drown in a sea of teenage nostalgia. Thanks for the insight!
Update: Geez! Back in those days my English was still pretty rough and I didn't understsnd most of the lyrics (English is not my first language). I have just read them for the first time. What a tragic and depressing song! LOL

Exactly. That's why people should start on acoustic. Tight electric players are usually great acoustic players.

Rachlef: i have no experience with fingerpicking
Me: thats literally all i can do i cant solo on electric and im okay on acoustic 😂
Soloing isn't *that* hard. I play guitar for a year and a half and I almost learned Pull Me Under's solo.
George Vassilev
That’s quite impressive for a year and a half. But also that’s not really that hard of a solo which is weird to say when talking about dreamtheatre.
Try learn the solo to afterlife by avenged sevenfold. Then I’ll be really impressed
I am very very good at fingerpicking on electric guitar and acoustic guitar as well I never use a pick
I know how to play at least 2000 songs rock and little bit of Country and I play the songs by fingerpicking
Soloing isn't that hard, it's just called practice :-)
I see orangewood guitars everywhere..I’m definitely getting one when I can. I hear nothing but positive stuff about them
I'll stick to my Simon & Patrick the "Showcase" model acoustic $2,000+ quality for $1,600 new (little cheaper used). I also have a cheapo Washburn acoustic that was $220 with hard case I use when i travel or go camping that does the trick. Despite being cheap it was my first guitar and has huge sentimental value. I've had it for a long time and it's covered in stickers but sounds damn good for what it is.
Cralo if you are primarily an electric guitar player looking for a quality first acoustic to test the waters, Orangewood is a great choice. Especially for the price.
Cralo me too
I purchased the orangewood echo as my first guitar and it's probably the best purchase I've ever made.
Pick up a Taylor bro
Her: its my first time playing the acoustic!
Also her: is already better than me.
Me: *_dAmN iT_*
I don't know if on the electric you don't have to press hard to make the chord sound clear, but on the acoustic you should really make sure you press down otherwise it sound dull and messy like it sounds in the video
Sounds like your acoustic needs the truss rod adjusted
yeah she's buzzing a lot
Some advice. I played electric for years before touching an acoustic. Definitely two different instruments. You should try sitting classically. Prop up your left foot and sit it on your left leg and hold the neck higher. It gives your hand a better more natural position and it prevents carpal tunnel damage because you do have to squeeze harder.
From classical guitar to acoustic it is definitely 2 different instruments, from electric to acoustic is just a bit different
Thank you. I'm a beginner. This helps.
I do a lot of finger-picking but sometimes it makes my nose bleed.

“Why Georgia”and “Daughters” by John Mayer. If you’re up for a challenge try “Neon”.
so you're telling me that your whole life you just practiced with electric guitar but never with an acoustic guitar ?
ok
I'm confused too
For me it also took pretty long to get an acoustic guitar. I played electric for long before I really strarted playing acoustic. I had played an acoustic a couple times earlier but didn't really like it because I wasn't very good at the time and was already so used to electric. One time my relative had this acoustic guitar he didn't use and gave it to me. After that I strarted playing it a lot and now I love the acoustic haha
bruh a lot pf people start with electric guitar including me its kind of obvious you dont play guitar
Tigo Taco I mean...not really. I fall out of the range of This comment, but I started with acoustic guitar. Acoustic is better for training your fingers with holding done the Frets, so yeah. Also, you don’t know if they play or not, so it’s best not to assume🙂
@@Bryman_sings i mean, people who pick eletric pick it because they *want* and electric. not an acoustic.

Hotel California
Blackbird
Sweet home Alabama
ellen louise sweet home Alabama can be played on acoustic but is meant for electric and sounds better on electric
I agree with hotel california but it will sound different because the riff was written for twelve string aucustics
Try Spanish Romance for finger picking even though its better on classical guitar. It was my first fingerstyle song on acoustic. Remeber to always use lower strings while fingerstyle. I first stuck with playinh only high stri gs and then when i added the bass strings it was whole new story and new beauty behind it.
Cheers
Same with me in a different way! I started classical guitar about 5 years ago and decided to buy acoustic guitar 5 months ago and now I'm saving up my money to buy electrical because recently I fell in love with electrical jazz licks haha. Had some difficulties tho, I keep hiding my thumb because I'm used to following classical guitar rules. Fascinating how different types of guitar makes huge differences
This vid made me feel soooo much better. Rachel started playing a little before me and I have been increasingly paranoid about my lack of progress in comparison. However, instead of buying a number of electrics, I bought my first acoustic almost a year ago and play both types regularly. I am a lot more confident on acoustic and feel like I’m probably a more balanced player all round. Yay! Thanks Rach. Don’t feel so rubbish now. Your vids are awesome btw as is your taste in music :-)

I guess this would be equivalent to a piano player (moi) who has only ever played electric keyboards transitioning onto an acoustic piano. I would struggle so much because the keys on an acoustic are weighted and bigger as well as the volume is overwhelming sometimes.
