- The Ken Roczen sweepstakes continued on Wednesday as fresh off his Paris Supercross victory on a Honda, Roczen was seen riding his third different brand in four days. After riding a Stark Varg in Barcelona, Spain on Monday, Roczen flew back to the USA and rode a HEP Suzuki in California on Wednesday. As he gets closer to signing a new deal for 2023, it seems all the stops are being made for Roczen before he ultimately decides where his new home will be. Jason Weigandt breaks down what is going on and what could happen next.

Kenny on Suzuki would be huge for progressive and HEP
Would love to see roczen on a Suzuki again.
I think this is what he needs right now is less pressure put on him and when he’s having fun and enjoying riding/ racing is when he is a animal on the bike!! No matter if it’s a Suzuki again which I’d love to see!! Or if he stays on a honda bike which is a great bike also! I like both brands as I’ve owned them.

Those twisted tea bikes are absolutely insane and can be built the way he really wants it for the team sake I'd like to see him on Suzuki yes stock the bikes are low on power behind on tech but those bikes ripp hope he ends up there by the way twisted teas are so good lol
How many races have Twisted Tea Suzuki's won in the past ?
@2216sammy how many riders have been on a twisted tea bike that had it together to win? It's not the bike at that level. Motor and suspension on a pro team is irrelevant aslong as the team understands and listens to what the rider wants and tweaks it how they need. And what I've watched and heard on interviews that's what seems to be a issue with roczen on past teams. Other than the Kickstart and I don't see that being a huge problem.
@@bmocaby9747 Ken Roczen is skilled enough to not stall the bike at every corner, so kick start should be just fine, especially for supercross.
@nestserau exactly. With fuel injected bikes a Kickstarts not a big deal it takes 1-2 kicks and your back in business. I had a '17 rmz450 I raced for 5 years, and it done great for me.
many people say suzuki shouldnt bring a new frame and all in 2018 they should brought a new engine cause the frame was sick. but in the end roczen and yellow is just sick

Suzuki is the retirement option - if you're drifting away from the pointy end of the spear, might as well take a bigger money offer even if you have to ride substandard equipment. I don't think Roczen is there though.
A title might not be likely, but would it blow any minds if he won a few rounds in 2023? He's supernaturally talented and it wouldn't surprise me at all. When you're that good, do you want to risk even a slight handicap when that might affect results and undermine your negotiating power for next year?

What a dream to be able to ride all the other bikes, and let the deals stack-up. Flat out whooped Tomac last week. He deserves a great deal. It's hard not to be a fan. Also a class act IMO. Rides clean and doesn't make excuses. He was right that his fans around the world deserved to see him race. I've been a Honda fan all my life, sad to see them shaft him. I expect Kenny to be up front no matter what bike he rides. I don't think he is stressed. Good Luck KRoc!

There have been rumors of Mitch Payton building him a Kawasaki as a last ditch effort. I think his mindset is he doesn’t mind not making money but just doesn’t want to lose money. If anything I see him going firepower
I don't see that happening regardless of Roczens bank account, knowing how poorly Mitch pays his riders......
I think it'd be cool to see Ken on a pro circuit 450. But not on the official pro circuit team because of monster, I doubt it would happen but it'd be cool
I always wondered why not GasGas? They only have 1 450 rider, the redbull deal can still line up and he can still live in florida. The only thing to work around is the Troy Lee Deal

As much as I like Ken Roczen, and he's a beast for battling thru his horrific injury. The guy complained so much in 2022 sx and mx about the bike while sexton was winning races on it. Every time he got on the mic he mentioned how the bike wasn't good..... how is Ken roczen going to hop off arguably the best bike out there to a random smaller team with less support? Ken needs to be pampered and a smaller team won't satisfy him. Don't know how anyone thinks he can ride anything other then a factory bike.
Well he did drop to a smaller team after ktm and won a championship so maybe there is some truth to what he's saying

Wow if you watched any supercross or outdoors in 2022 you would have seen him drop off the pace as fast as he shot out of the gate. Kenny just can’t keep the pace in long motos. I went to 12 of the supercross races in 22 and 10 of the outdoors and in each races about the 10 -15 minute mark Kenny began to fade fast. The only reason he won World Supercross is Eli didn’t finish the series and the motos were short. That’s the same with the Paris Supercross, Eli fell and the shorter motos. I work as an engineer for one of the manufacturers developing performance parts for engines and chassis for these riders. I travel to a,ot of the races and watch them from in the paddock and hear what alot of the insiders are saying about his performance. He’s a sprinter not a marathon racer. Long motos beat him up. He dropped out of the supercross series in 2022 because of sub-par finishes and blamed it on the bike. Only he knows the real reason but when you have three other riders on the same brand kicking but it makes you wonder. I know for a fact Honda has some of the best engineering staff and technical staff with some of the trickest part available and will bend over backward to develop the best possible bike for their riders. There is only a 8 weeks before A1 and two holiday weeks in between so that doesn’t leave alot of room for testing. Usually riders at his level secure rides LONG before this. Kenny is the only one with answers and we will have to wait and see what he decides.
@@motoxman541 we can all speculate all we want, however we don't have any of the answers. The bottom line the better everyone of the riders does and feels the better the entertainment value is for all of us and the potential growth of the sport can be.
This sport doesn't pay well, never has, never will and the industry is mostly smoke and mirrors, people working for pocket change to get a coot team shirt and hat, only to change colors next year when money dries up. Been there done that, 20 plus years working in the industry, been to all these guys homes and private tracks etc, doesn't give me a crystal ball online jocking, lets all just hope for the best for all of them and a safe future.
He better hurry up and choose very soon. Only 7 weeks away until A1 and everyone else has been on their bikes testing.

does it really matter though ? whatever he rides he will be good for a few races and then do Roczen things and not be a story.. guess we can soak it up while we can... i think we need to split the fields in half.. get rid of the bottom 10 or so riders and just keep top 15 and have the bottom race by themselves.. i like Aray and Classon and a few other riders but whats the point of making a main and then rolling everything getting in the way of the fast guys.. watching the last few races and even the last few years they just get in the way
NEWS: Roczen is being paid to test these teams bikes! He is being paid to evaluate and improve those bikes! These are not job interviews boys.
Some of the bikes he's testing are already released and completely new . He's testing to see which bike fits him best this is not an early development testing situation although maybe for Suzuki and the E bike.

Roczen could win on a Hodaka if he wanted to. None of the top pros are racing stock bikes, Suzuki's just take alot more work to get them competitive. Coming to Suzuki would be a step backwards for Roczen. Motorcycles are good for weekend riders who want to have fun, but if you want to ride at a high level, you don't want a Suzuki. Although I would be happy if Rozcen rode a Suzuki, but if he wants to win, he has to choose another brand.
I believe this is incorrect, yes a STOCK rmz doesn’t hold a candle to other STOCK oems, BUT this is hardly a Suzuki anymore the twisted tea and BARX teams have those motors cranked amazing suspension and the handling is one of the best. The firepower team has more restrictions than what he was running in Paris or wsx. Which ever way he goes both teams are good but the hep bike has $$$ where firepower won’t have any bonuses
What's its like riding at that high level?
It doesn't take much research on that thousand dollar computer/tracking device in your pocket to know a little of the Suzuki history, and how past professionals have won and some dominated on them...... Carmichael, Reed, Dungey, Roczen, Albertyn, Hufman, Pastrana, the list goes on......
Unfortunately the victories in racing industry never translated into heavy bike sales in the states, however they are extremely potent competitive machines, and always have been.......
you obviously don’t know shit. He won on arguable the same bike in 2016 smoking everyone outdoors. They only modified that bike twice after that so the adjustments needed to get close to that probably wouldn’t be the biggest challenge so you’re just wrong.

I feel like he's just having fun riding everything he can while he can, and probaby has his mind made up already. He will probably show up at AI on that genuine Honda he's been riding and winning on. Just a guess though, I have no idea.

I absolutely think he could do just as well on a Suzuki (and this is coming from a guy who owns a Honda CRF450RX & TM Racing EN300ES)!
Motor builders have proved that the engine design - although the lowest HP in stock format - has the capabilities of increasing HP and torque parameters that are much higher than other manufacturers, with some of the greatest cornering characteristics out there.
-Also, this is a factory sponsored team, so it has the part availability to morph the bike into whatever the team wants or needs! I just wish they'd bring back the yellow or gold excel rims with yellow and blue graphics...it looks the BEST in that aesthetic layout! I learned on Suzuki, and if I had the money, I'd build the meanest 2033 RMZ-250 big bore right now to go with my 450cc 4t and 300cc 2t - they come with a Yoshi pipe and RM Army graphics this year! -People sleep on them, when they are a very capable machine (as capable as anything else) when $50k, $60k, $80k, $100k is thrown at it by sponsors, and the factory can literally fabricate whatever they want!

@@2216sammy Call Twisted Development and you'll find out that it can produce crazy high numbers when built - it was on an episode of MXA actually!
If it's so obsolete, how are people that aren't top ranked riders getting top ten???
Again, I own a fully modified TM Racing EN300ES 2 stroke that will eat up anything you have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and if that doesn't cover it, my Honda CRF450RX from XPR & Red Moto would destroy the rest! I get it...I'm a fan of other technology too, however, you can't discredit information about the RMZ if you haven't looked it up yourself! Their high torque and low end grunt (that outpaces every other manufacturer) numbers allow it to be built to really high HP numbers. You just want to hate...so call Twisted Development and ask yourself...if you drop 20-30k into it, what could you get out of it, and you'll hear that it is just as competitive as everything else, and better in some areas than EVERYTHING out there. Every machine has its own characteristics that are better than the others - FACT!
98% of it's Rider rocks a jump onto the Suzuki and blow them all away love to see it
