    I live in Japan close to where they make these needles 😊 The kohshitsu ones go through some extra processing to make them stronger and smoother, which is quite noticable, but the shirotake ones are still great quality 🤗 However, my dog chewed up a couple shirotake needles 😱 so I'm using the kohshitsu now just in case 😅

    These look so pretty! Bamboo is amazing! Knitting needles are like harrypotter wands everyone has there own type and elements! I've always thought bamboo is the most feminine of knitting woods. 💕

    I’m so glad you did a review. I’ve been starting to collect Seeknit. First the aesthetic is just beautiful. I corresponded with Seeknits directly in Japan through Etsy to find a Canadian distributor. They were wonderful and I seriously would love to visit them in person one day. If your local shop orders through Jefferson’s they can order it in for you! I have a set of DPNs coming in. I started with the 9 inch circulars for socks and then got a small size of interchangeables for my hat knitting. Since I’ve been using the hat sized ones I’ve ordered more cords and stoppers and a few more larger tips. I think this is going to be my lifetime knitting set. And as someone mentioned above the hair elastic is for holding the packaging shut for storage.

    So glad you mentioned the cord joint and lump issue. I thought I was the only one since the available yt. Video reviews and reviews I read no one mentioned it. Also thought it was the yarn I used causing that issue. Still have to try with another yarn choice and see if I want to keep my set or destash it because I hated that part so much. 😂 thanks for the review.

    I've been using these for a while I really like them!! For the 5mm one, I use a 4.5mm on the left so the stitches glide more easily

    My absolute favorite are the addi rocket squares. I only have that set and a lantern moon set and I prefer the metal ones but mostly because it’s pointier and I like the grooves for my stitches

    I just bought these as well. Seeknit recommends drying them after use and renewing the luster/smoothness with wax (the example they give is soy candle wax). I plan on treating mine the same way I treat bamboo kitchen equipment (dry to prevent warping, maintain with wax or oil).
    Edit: and I also wish I'd bought the koshitsu 🙃

  • @Katherinefedwell
    @Katherinefedwell Před rokem

    I bought the kohshitsu interchangeable set and was worried as I’ve snapped wooden needles in my early knitting days, but so far no warping and I haven’t had an issue even though I’ve even used the tiny 2mm ones. I was very careful at first, but I’ve had them for a year now and they’re excellent.

    Thank you for the great review ! My current set of interchangeables do need to be screwed up quite tighly for them not to unscrew while I knit and it's definitely annoying. They're also metal which I don't like as much as bamboo so I'm definitely keeping those in mind !

    If you like Lykke needles and want to try more metal options then the copper ones are really nice, they also have swivel cords. I really enjoy them.

    @emmastone5063 Před rokem +1

    A potential solution when it comes to tightening the interchangeables what don’t have the pin hole, you can get little grippy pads like you might use for opening a jar that help you tighten them more!

    I also LOVE seeknit needles. I have the shiroke, and the gold base is actually made of brass, so one thing I noticed is that it creates a slight patina with use, and it also creates the smallest green oxidization at the base of the wood where it meets the brass, but it’s hardly noticeable. I don’t think it would be as noticeable with the darker Koshitsu.

    I have Seeknit small circular needles for socks which is 2.25mm (I got the cheaper version). I bought it from Needles and Wool too not knowing the quality of the needles at the time. All I know I shouldn’t bring my metal needles on the plane. It was my most expensive sock needles but I was impressed with the quality. No snag especially I am a tight knitter. After holiday, I ordered some other sizes. Totally recommend small circular sock needles from seeknit and I always buy from Needles and Wools.

    Those M numbers for the interchangeable connectors are standard Metric thread callouts. They refer to the outer (major) diameter of the thread (disambiguation: threaded fastener, not fabric thread), so M4 would be a 4mm major diameter of the thread. The pitch of the thread (distance between sequential threads) is typically standardized for a given diameter. M0.8 vs M2 vs M4 (I think those were the sizes you mentioned) should be pretty easy to tell apart visually; they're respectively twice the size of the previous size.

    Does anybody know if the needles are squeaky? I'm currently using chiagoo bamboo needles which also have a plastic wire and the joint is quite squeaky which bothers me abit

    • @Enig_Mata
      @Enig_Mata Před rokem

      They do not. I have both Chiaogoo metal and bamboo sets - I love the metal set; the bamboo is good but I wanted to try something else out because it can be a tad too sharp. Once I tried Seeknit, it was a game changer. It's like have wooden needles buttery smooth enough to rival some metal needles.Of course, metal and wood are different, but they feel great. I have never had an issue with squeaking from the Seeknit needles. I tend to use my red lace cable when using my CG needles. Try Seeknit - you will not be disappointed. If anything, buy the medium set which gives you the popular sizes used for sweater knitting.
